POSITION SUMMARY

Position Summary
Adeso’s Communications Team is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the Adeso Communications Strategy. This includes defining and formulating key messages and proof points to broaden the understanding of Adeso’s unique, people centered and participatory program approach amongst stakeholders across the humanitarian and development sector, governments, donors and the media.
S/he will work with colleagues to support the communications efforts of Adeso’s program teams; and s/he will support the organization’s growth. S/he will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Adeso communications enable and accelerate the system-level change envisaged in Adeso’s strategic goals.
We are looking for a Digital Content & Communications Intern with a breadth of knowledge in PR, social media, marketing, web, running and managing campaigns and e-communications with plenty of room and interest in innovation, challenges and learning. This opportunity requires the ability to coordinate, research, and create content (i.e., social media, donor communications, impact stories, program updates, etc.) for a variety of audiences including, donors, media, the general public, internal staff, and program partners among others. The position will specifically be responsible for leading the daily management of social media and online communications and marketing activities for multiple online platforms.
The successful candidate will have a talent for writing and a willingness to engage in projects ranging from writing, editing, proofreading, and leveraging social media and blogs-across several different publications while juggling multiple deadlines and priorities. The desired candidate will exude passion and a driving desire for excellence in all they do. The candidate will also be expected to be a strategic thinker who understands how social media is a vital part of a larger, integrated digital marketing strategy including SEO, Analytics, Email Marketing, and building a culture of constant testing and refinement.
Position Purpose
Increase Adeso’s online visibility, voice, and influence;
Run and manage fundraising, support business development and communication through a variety of tools, techniques and resources – including media pitching, ongoing website presence, promotional materials;
Lead and manage social media fundraising campaigns.
Responsibilities
Social Media & Fundraising Management
Develop and execute social media strategies to leverage editorial content across a variety of channels as well drive reader engagement
Manage Adeso’s current social media accounts;
Assess Adeso’s current social media presence and determine which new channels offer the best opportunity to increase the organization’s online presence;
Set targets for increasing Adeso’s visibility and reach via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other selected social networking sites;
Analyze and optimize monthly social engagement analytics and ad performance on all platforms;
Monitor monthly social performance ensuring the yearly goals are met or exceeded;
Maintain a list of all social media accounts log-in information and always make sure HQ has the most up-to-date information; and,
Develop and implement social media campaigns, including use of paid advertisements.
Develop and manage online fundraising campaigns using Facebook, Gofundme, Globalgiving, and more.
Content Development and Editorial Support
Develop and maintain overall content strategy and standards for voice and tone for digital communications;
Provide frameworks and guidance to support colleagues in their promotional and messaging work, in line with the Communications Strategy;
Maintain and help to evolve the voice of web communications; research, write and edit SEO-rich, grammatically accurate content for Adeso’s website, e-mails and social media, taking a proactive approach to improve our communications and brand across all online channels;
Edit and disseminate Adeso case studies and success stories to maximize their use;
Support the writing and editing of Adeso’s publications, including the upcoming 25th anniversary Impact Report;
Promote Adeso in relevant media and network spaces and manage the production and delivery of appropriate outreach material, including key publications such as the annual report.
Beyond these specific responsibilities, the Communications Intern is expected to collaborate on activities as agreed upon with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development to support the delivery of the Strategic Plan and Fundraising Strategy.
Other
Develop and promote communication tools and resources to use in their external activities, in order to secure a consistent external Adeso message, and optimize the communications power of Adeso.
Copyediting, edit, review, and mark documents to ensure correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, and usage. Impose a consistent style while querying or correcting inconsistencies, flagging and checking head levels and callouts for graphics or notes, cross-checking in-text references, and styling reference lists or bibliographies.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications/Journalism or related field;
1-2 years’ work experience in communications and marketing;

Expertise and experience leveraging social media communication channels to provide a compelling and inspired sense of an organization’s mission to a broad range of audiences;
Experience with HTML coding, email distribution tools and content management systems;

PROJECT SUMMARY
Adeso is leading in the implementation of Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Program (DEPP) Innovation Lab, a 22 month project under the AIM (Adeso, iHub MasterCard) Consortium. The objective of this program is to increase preparedness and resilience of disaster-prone communities in Garissa and Marsabit counties of Kenya by drawing on their deep knowledge of pastoralist and coping with drought disasters.
The Consortium has formed Maarifa Kona community innovations labs in Garissa and Marsabit where rural communities are using the labs to research and develop their ideas for preparing against drought. Selected community innovators are also able to prototype and incubate their innovations which could be scaled for commercialization. It is from this background that a number of community innovators are engaged with the labs to refine and prototype their ideas.
SCOPE OF THE ASSESSMENT
Adeso is seeking an established and qualified consultant(s) or consultancy firm carrying out to conduct Final Project evaluation of the DEPP innvoation labs program. This project is being implemented in the counties of Garissa and Marsait. The program started in July 2017 and will end in June 2019.
The consultancy is for a period of 20 days which is expected to start in May 2019. The consultancy will include desk review work, field data collection, data analysis and report writing. The consultant will be expected to travel to the 2 counties of program implementation, namely Garissa and Marsabit.
The outcomes and findings of the assessment will be useful to determine the way forward for engagement, strategic decisions and project implementation in the project areas.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES THE ASSESSMENT
The purpose of this review of the DEPP project is to assess the progress and achievements of the program, to identify and document lessons learnt (including lessons that might improve design, process and implementation of the DEPP project) and to provide recommendations for future similar interventions. The assessment is expected to serve as a means of validating or filling the gaps in the initial assessment of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency obtained from monitoring activities.The assessment will serve as an opportunity for DEPP project management team to take stock of project progress and the extent to which the project has achieved its objectives.
Tasks:
To gather data from sample project innovators and the Key informants from the community that can be used to assess the impact of the project and innovations to the community
Assess the extent to which needs assessment, response analysis, intervention strategies, research, accountability, monitoring and evaluation were met considering level of appropriateness.
To analyse and assess the impact of the project in project areas and document differences in existing practices in relation to the new way of intervention.
To analyse and document lessons learnt and best practices on the innovation process, project engagement with the innovators and community in the project areas in relation to targeting criteria, and impact of project on the community and other variables.METHODOLOGY AND PROCESS
The methodology will be further reviewed by the consultant. The consultant is expected to use triangulation of data methodologies that would facilitate extraction of critical information necessary to provide answers to the assessment questions. The following are expected to be considered while developing evaluation methodology.
Literature review of different secondary data and reports about innovations and innovation processes.
Review of existing reports and other project related documents.
Presentation on evaluation methodology to programme team and modify the changes in methodology based on the feedbacks.
Develop data collection tools and framework to guide the process of data collection.
The assessment is expected to cover regions of Nairobi, Marsabit and Garissa in Kenya, where the Innovation project is being implemented.
The Adeso field teams working on ground are available to support basic data collection with appropriate guidance and training.
The Consultant should submit detailed work plan for the stipulated period of consultancy assignment.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The following key issues need to be addressed by the assessors under the following criteria. The present list however is not exhaustive and additional issues might come up during the mission.
Relevance (including coherence and the appropriateness of project objectives to the problems that it was supposed to address, and to the physical and policy environment within which it operated)
Appropriateness of the design towards community and human centered approach used to meet the specified goal and objectives of the project;
Relevance of the targeting approach to reach the vulnerable households
The consistency of the project planning and response in implementation.
Effectiveness (assess the contribution from the project results and how assumptions have affected the project) in relation to:
Project design as the best approach to achieving the set objectives;
Effectiveness of beneficiary targeting and selection criteria used to reach the most vulnerable;
Number of participants reached within the different components of the project (broken down by gender)
Capacity building and behavior change activities success rate
To what extent did the external assumptions in the proposal hold true and how well were the mitigating measures put into use?
Document lessons learned by the project so far. What are the lessons learned and how can this knowledge is used for the remaining project period? Which were the best practices?
Assess the possible intended or unintended outcomes and impact.
Impact (the effect of the project on its wider environment, and its contribution to the wider objectives summarized in the project overall objective)
Result 1: Develop innovations/process that will strengthen disaster-prone communities’ resilience and preparedness to drought-related disasters and effects.
Result 2: Labs have found suitable innovators from within their target community and able to influence innovations for succesful scaling potential
Result 3: Community members have participated in the design process and now have capacity and desire to innovate/ think about innovation.
Result 4: Labs has facilitate useful external engagement (formal or informal partnerships (i.e. mentors) for innovators and also Innovation labs that provide useful services to innovators
Result 5: There is increased learning across lab to contribute to the humanitarian sector and development programs in general.
Sustainability (the likelihood of a continuation in the stream of benefits produced by the project)
Design of the project in relation to sustainability;
Sustainability of project output;
Assessment of the effectiveness of measures taken to ensure project achievements are not lost and provide suggestions for improving the sustainability of the project.
Ownership of objectives and achievements: to what extent were the stakeholders consulted and involved in defining the objectives, the selection process for activities and project participants, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Institutional capacity:
Assess the degree of commitment of stakeholders, the measures taken to strengthen their capacity and suggest improvement for the future
Assess the appropriateness of the institution strengthening methods applied.POSSIBLE FIELD WORK
The consultant(s) will prepare an evaluation schedule to operationalize and direct the assessment for the stipulated period of consultancy assignment. The work plan will describe how the assessment will be carried out, bringing refinements, strategy, specificity and elaboration to the terms of reference.
Consultant(s) will need to provide his/her own travel insurance and the same will be applicable to personnel independently deployed for data collection.

Initial work plan and inception report for the assessment and presentation to programme team on the evaluation methodology and process of data collection.

The consultant will report to the M&E focal point and will work closely with programme team and field programme teams.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CONSULTANT
Master degree in monitoring and evaluation, economics, development studies or social sciences and other areas relevant for the assignment.
At least seven years of relevant professional work in social research or undertaking related studies.
Extensive experience in undertaking outcome and impact evaluation of social innovation projects and experience of conducting studies business start-ups innovations in humanitarian context.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of emergency programming approaches and related to Disaster emergencies preparedness its linkages.
Extensive experience in working with INGOs and local NGOs, local authorities and communities.
Demonstrated analytical and writing skills.
Excellent knowledge of English and Swahili.
CONSULTANCY PERIOD
The evaluation shall be completed within a period of 30 days. The final report is expected to be finalized by the within the specified 20 days more consultations may be done on call when need basis via call up to 30th June 2019.

BACKGROUND FOR CONSULTANCY
Maarifa Kona is an Innovation Lab that was created under the Adeso, iHub and MasterCard (AIM) consortium. It functions as a community ideas space in the rural counties of Marsabit and Garissa, Kenya in which the communities can explore and develop better innovative mechanisms to build resilience and preparedness in the face of drought.
We exist to:
To support inventors to develop practical solutions and new ideas to prepare for and manage drought
To create a new learning environment and accessible approach where people feel at ease sharing their experiences and testing their ideas.
Our focus areas include:
Food security
Water management
Livestock protection
Other interventions related to drought e.g. alternative livelihoods, early warning systems etc.
SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED:
The main goal is to produce a series of videos documenting the Maarifa Kona DEPP Innovation Lab core activities and noteworthy outcomes. The videos will profile the journey of 10 innovators from two counties, capturing their experience through our innovation process, gains, impact and expectations as they complete the incubation phase of the programme. The videos and pictures should be able to tell a story of innovators and the process by incorporating the following components:
The community problem(s) and inspiration to join the Maarifa Kona innovation process;Their growth as a result of key learnings/lessons-learnt/takeaways from the Maarifa Kona innovation process;High-level briefs of their innovation and potential impact to their communities;The excitement, anxiety and expectation of the future in regard to their social innovations;Snippets of key activities during the incubation phase (incorporating user testing, training and community engagement sessions)
These videos and pictures will serve as visibility materials for the upcoming National Product Unveiling to be held on 19th April 2019 and London Demo Day on 7th May 2019.
The videos and pictures shall also serve as a marketing and best practices resource tool.
As the financier and sole owner of the property, Adeso will provide approval, input and direction in all key stages of development of the film.
CONSULTANCY PERIOD
The consultancy period will be for a period of 2-3 weeks.
SPECIFIC DELIVERABLES
Specific Project Deliverables:
The main responsibilities of the Contractor (Videographer) are as follows:
Travel to the designated sites in Garissa and Marsabit to meet, interview, picture and film identified stakeholders and film appropriate activities and other scenes that reinforce and support the purpose of the video production (context, landscape, culture). Travel is currently planned for the following dates, although these may change:
Marsabit: 10th – 15th March 2019 (inclusive of travel days)
Garissa: 16th – 23rd March 2019 (inclusive of travel days)
Provide all technical equipment required to deliver high quality production including managing the transport and safety of this equipment.
Realise production and post-production processes (filming, editing, dubbing, subtitles, music, voice-overs, graphic design and titles, etc.)
Obtain client approval in all the key stages (video concept and script, rough cut, final version) and incorporate required amendments.
Successfully satisfy all assignment deliverables as specified within the Terms of Reference.
Submit all original documentary footage (rough material).
Note: Adeso shall retain copyrights to all original footage taken during the production of the videos.
Specific Deliverables to Adeso:
A total of 10 elevator Innovator profile videos will be produced with each not exceeding 10 minutes. Adeso will provide the themes.
One Maarifa Kona documentary, not exceeding 25 minutes, providing key highlights from the innovator profiles/stories with the following elements:
Catchy sound bites from the innovator stories, including appropriate links
Short interviews with program staff/mentors/community members
B-roll/cutaways of key activities (user testing, training, past Demo Day footage etc.)
Environmental shoots to establish context.
One short online edition of the documentary not exceeding 8 minutes with relevant graphics, music, voice over, links etc.)
Based on the approved scripts the Contractor should record voice overs, and include subtitles where applicable.
The videos shall be shot in this format: Full HD 1080 and delivered in an external HD device the master videos as well as stream-able web clips:
In English language, entirely subtitled (including a voice over recording where applicable)
A collection of high resolution action oriented/thematic pictures (a minimum of 100), adequately edited (in Jpeg and RAW) capturing different elements of the programme (innovators, Innovation Labs and community). This should be accompanied the photo log (spreadsheet) with captions for the collection of submitted pictures.
Adeso shall retain copyrights to all photographs, video and original footage at the field sites taken during the implementation of this project. The final products will be used in perpetuity by Adeso and the AIM Consortium.
Applicable Timelines:
The project will commence upon the date of signing of the Agreement and be implemented over an approximate 2 to 3 weeks period as follows:
Filming for this production will commence on 11th – 22nd March 2019.
The “rough” cut videos will be submitted by 1st April, 2019 at the latest.
The final production is to be submitted and copies delivered by 7th April 2019 at the latest.
The Contractor may adjust any or all of these deadlines forward (i.e. submit ahead of the deadlines).
Services and Facilities to be Provided by Adeso:
Adeso will:
Provide a concept, briefing and technical content for the features.
Provide all logistics (travel) and accommodation, with the exception of daily meals, at the project sites – Garissa and Marsabit.
Approve an interim script (developed by the Videographer) before production starts.
Guide in identifying locations and resource people for interviews.
Accompany the Production Team on location and assist for the realization of the interviews.
Provide appropriate pre-existing video footage and photographs related to Maarifa Kona where necessary.
Provide approval at all key stages of the process and before final submission.
Note: Adeso will not provide any health or personal accident insurance to the contractor for the period of the task.

PROJECT SUMMARY
Adeso is leading in the implementation of Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Program (DEPP) Innovation Lab, a 22-month project under the AIM (Adeso, iHub MasterCard) Consortium. The objective of this program is to increase preparedness and resilience of disaster-prone communities in Garissa and Marsabit counties of Kenya by drawing on their deep knowledge of pastoralist and coping with drought disasters.
The Consortium has formed Maarifa Kona community innovations labs in Garissa and Marsabit where rural communities are using the labs to research and develop their ideas for preparing against drought. Selected community innovators are also able to prototype and incubate their innovations which could be scaled for commercialization. It is from this background that a number of community innovators are engaged with the labs to refine and prototype their ideas.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE FOR CONSULTANCY
The purpose of this review of the DEPP project is to assess the progress and achievements of the program, to identify and document lessons learnt (including lessons that might improve design, process and implementation of the DEPP project) and to provide recommendations to guide the remaining implementation period of the project.
The assessment is expected to serve as a means of validating or filling the gaps in the initial assessment of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency obtained from monitoring activities. The assessment will help provide Adeso, iHub and MasterCard teams with the opportunity to assess early signs of project success or failure which will help them to make prompt necessary changes during implementation. It will also serve as an opportunity for DEPP project management team to take stock of project progress and assess the direction of the project intervention towards achieving its objectives.
Tasks:
To gather evaluation data from sample project innovators and the Key informants from the community that can be used to assess the impact of the project and innovations to the community
Assess the extent to which needs assessment, response analysis, intervention strategies, research, accountability, monitoring and evaluation were met considering level of appropriateness.
To analyze and assess the impacts of the project in project areas and document differences in existing practices in relation to the new way of intervention.
To analyze and document lessons learnt and best practices on the innovation process, project engagement with the innovators and community in the project areas in relation to targeting criteria, gender relations, copying strategies and impact of project on the community.
METHODOLOGY
The methodology will be further reviewed by the consultant. The consultant is expected to use triangulation of data methodologies that would facilitate extraction of critical information necessary to provide answers to the assessment questions. The following are expected to be considered while developing evaluation methodology.
Literature review of different secondary data and reports about innovations and innovation processes.
Review of existing reports and other project related documents.
Presentation on evaluation methodology to program team and modify the changes in methodology based on the feedback.
Develop data collection tools and framework to guide the process of data collection.
The assessment is expected to cover regions of Nairobi, Marsabit and Garissa in Kenya, where the Innovation project is being implemented.
Field work visits; the consultant will be required to visit the areas for assessment.
The Adeso field teams working on ground are available to support basic data collection with appropriate guidance and training.
The Consultant should submit detailed work plan for the stipulated period of consultancy assignment.
SCOPE OF WORK
Adeso is seeking an established and qualified consultant(s) or consultancy firm in carrying out to conduct a program review of the DEPP innovation labs program. This project is being implemented in the regions of Garissa and Marsait. The program started in July 2017 and will run until the July 2019.
The consultancy is for a period of 20 days which is expected to start in February 2019. The consultancy will include desk review work, field data collection, data analysis and report writing. The consultant will be expected to travel to the 2 counties of program implementation, namely Garissa and Marsabit.
The outcomes and findings of the assessment will be useful to determine the way forward for engagement, strategic decisions and project implementation in the project areas.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The following key issues need to be addressed by the assessors under the following criteria. The present list however is not exhaustive and additional issues might come up during the mission.
Relevance (including coherence and the appropriateness of project objectives to the problems that it was supposed to address, and to the physical and policy environment within which it operated)
Appropriateness of the design towards community and human centered approach used to meet the specified goal and objectives of the project;
Relevance of the targeting approach to reach the vulnerable households
The consistency of the project planning and response in implementation.
Effectiveness (assess the contribution from the project results and how assumptions have affected the project) in relation to:
Project design as the best approach to achieving the set objectives;
Effectiveness of beneficiary targeting and selection criteria used to reach the most vulnerable;
Number of participants reached within the different components of the project (broken down by gender)
Capacity building and behavior change activities success rate
To what extent did the external assumptions in the proposal hold true and how well were the mitigating measures put into use?
Document lessons learned by the project so far. What are the lessons learned and how can this knowledge be used for the remaining project period? Which were the best practices?
Assess the possible intended or unintended outcomes and impact.
Impact (the effect of the project on its wider environment, and its contribution to the wider objectives summarized in the project overall objective)
Result 1: Develop innovations/process that will strengthen disaster-prone communities’ resilience and preparedness to drought-related disasters and effects.
Result 2: Labs have found suitable innovators from within their target community and able to influence innovations for successful scaling potential
Result 3: Community members have participated in the design process and now have capacity and desire to innovate/ think about innovation.
Result 4: Labs has facilitate useful external engagement (formal or informal partnerships (i.e. mentors) for innovators and also Innovation labs that provide useful services to innovators
Result 5: There is increased learning across lab to contribute to the humanitarian sector and development programs in general.
Sustainability (the likelihood of a continuation in the stream of benefits produced by the project)
Design of the project in relation to sustainability;
Sustainability of project output;
Assessment of the effectiveness of measures taken to ensure project achievements are not lost and provide suggestions for improving the sustainability of the project.
Ownership of objectives and achievements: to what extent were the stakeholders consulted and involved in defining the objectives, the selection process for activities and project participants, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Institutional capacity:
Assess the degree of commitment of stakeholders, the measures taken to strengthen their capacity and suggest improvement for the future
Assess the appropriateness of the institution strengthening methods applied.
CONSULTANCY PERIOD
The evaluation shall be completed within a period of 20 days. The final report is expected to be finalized by the 8 March 2019 more consultations may be done on call basis.
DELIVERABLES
Initial work plan and inception report for the assessment and presentation to program team on the evaluation methodology and process of data collection.
Final plans and data collection tools for approval by the program team.
Interim progress report with preliminary analysis and observations to program quality team for feedback and comments.
Presentation of evaluation findings for final consensus building.
Final evaluation report for external circulation after approval by program director and heads of program.
POSSIBLE FIELD WORK
The consultant(s) will prepare an evaluation schedule to operationalize and direct the assessment for the stipulated period of consultancy assignment. The work plan will describe how the assessment will be carried out, bringing refinements, strategy, specificity and elaboration to the terms of reference.
Consultant(s) will need to provide his/her own travel insurance and the same will be applicable to personnel independently deployed for data collection.
MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
The consultant will report to the M&E focal point and will work closely with Program Team and Field Program Teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, Development Studies or Social Sciences and other areas relevant for the assignment.
At least seven years of relevant professional work in social research or undertaking related studies.
Extensive experience in undertaking outcome and impact evaluation of social innovation projects and experience of conducting studies business start-ups innovations in humanitarian context.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of emergency programming approaches and related to Disaster emergencies preparedness its linkages.

Overall responsibilities of the Programme Manager
The Programme Manager is responsible for providing overall technical and managerial leadership and implementation; ensuring timely achievements of projects outputs, results and objectives with highest quality;
This position will be based in North Horr with regular field visits to project locations and the Marsabit coordination office to strengthen the field teams and participation in the technical humanitarian forums related to the project at County levels, with particular emphasis on increasing the project’s technical network and profile in Marsabit County.
As a key program technical person, the PM will liaise with host government officials, and UN/multi-sector coordination focal points, representing the project in all relevant sector coordination meetings and provide feedback/advice to field program staff and the Country Director (CD).
The PM has direct responsibility for design and development of tools for ensuring quality of project(s) implementation in compliance with donor requirements in a timely and effective manner.
He/She will review Technical Project(s) reports from Project Managers/officers to ensure technical quality and compliance with donor and VSFG guidelines before submission to the Country Director.
He/She will review Financial Project(s) reports from Project Finance Officer(s) at field level to ensure accuracy of expenditure and compliance with budget plan(s) before submission to the Country Finance Officer for further action.
As a member of the Country Management Team, the PM will assist the CD in shaping the strategic direction in Marsabit County to ensure the program meets the quality desired and implementation targets. This included holding monthly management meetings at the field office to plan and share information. S/he will directly supervise the technical project managers, Project Officers, field finance team, support staff and responsible for capacity building of staff through mentoring.

Strengthening the Program’s Networking and Coordination
Coordinate with stakeholders- Government departments, international agencies and NGOs on the program activities in Marsabit County.
Attend relevant project sector technical coordination meetings
Facilitate clear and technical linkages between Nairobi and the field ensuring adequate participation of VSFG in coordination forums.
Leadership
Assist the CD in solving technical issues and shaping the strategic direction of the Project in Marsabit, ensuring quality delivery of project activities.
Support in developing project monitoring and reporting tools and effectively support delivery of planned activities
Assess the needs and propose potential areas of project expansion; sectors, locations, as appropriate.
Participate in Project Team meetings contributing to problem-solving and decision-making on strategic and technical issues.

Project Development
With support from CD lead negotiations with County and local authorities in the project(s) locations, with staff, community and partners.

Proactively analyze humanitarian trends and opportunities, and facilitate needs assessment in a timely manner for adjustment in the project.
Follow up with project managers/project officers for key lessons for dissemination to relevant stakeholders and donors.
Jointly with staff and stakeholders develop an exit strategy to ensure the sustainability of project(s) achievements
Project technical Implementation and Accountability
Ensure the projects under his/her management are aligned with VSFG Country Strategy, sectoral standards and humanitarian and development guidelines in the county.
Provide guidance and support to staff/local partners to ensure technical quality in implementation of the project(s).
Monitor project(s) implementation and prompt reporting and resolving of issues that are of concern to the project(s).
Liaise with M&E Officer to ensure that adequate M&E tools and harmonized methodologies for monitoring and reporting are in place. Provide monthly monitoring reports.
Monitor budget with Country Accountant and Project Accountant(s) for compliance with donor requirements and VSFG financial guidelines.
Provide opportunities for effective learning and sharing of innovations through meetings among project teams.
Conduct regular visits to project locations to monitor project performance and report on progress to CD.
Provide feedback to staff on project progress and gaps identified for improvement and capacity building as necessary.
Technical Reporting.
Design and manage plans of reporting for all grants and ensure contribution from staff during reporting.

Qualifications, skills and experience we are seeking
Essential: At least a Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine, or Animal Production with experience supporting animal health programs. A Master’s degree qualification will confer an added advantage.
5-7 years’ INGO experience in humanitarian and development work with roles in program design, development, and accountability.
Strong leadership skills, experience in planning and management of programs and ability to manage change.
Knowledge of humanitarian response and development, program concepts frameworks, standards and strategies.
Proficient in developing project logical frameworks, M&E systems and implementation in community settings.
Demonstrated experience in program design, planning and implementation using participatory methodologies.
Proven skills in communications, presentation, inter-personal relations with fluency in written and spoken English
Experience in implementing projects funded by institutional donors such as EU, ECHO, UN-OCHA, FAO, BMZ, etc will be of added value.
Experience in working and coordinating with NGOs, government agencies and local stakeholders.
Experience working in ASAL areas or similar environments preferred.
