    JOB OBJECTIVE

    The research professor will be responsible for leading the research culture in the Department of Networks and Applied Computing and the School of Technology, seeking external funding for their research activities to enhance the prestige of the University, initiating research projects that involve connections with scholars in other institutions locally and overseas, and taking part in the strategic planning and decision-making for the Department and School.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Contribute to the daily operations and management of the Department/School research activities.
    Lead and participate in preparing research proposals for funding
    Conduct original/innovative research, actively contributing to advancing knowledge in the relevant subject area/s at a national and international level
    Design and lead research projects, ensuring their effective management and delivery of outcomes
    Conduct research and manage research teams

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    An earned PhD or its academic equivalent from an accredited/recognized University.
    A cumulative three (3) years of research experience since being appointed Associate Professor
    Research output comprising a minimum of six (6) high-quality publications in refereed journals since being appointed associate professor.
    Evidence of continued evaluated effective research and successful supervision of postgraduate students’ research projects.
    Evidence of having developed proposals that have attracted funding

    What You’ll Do

    Role Description

    This is a full-time on-site role for a Data Science and Machine Learning professional at Sight and Sound Computers Limited in Nairobi County, Kenya. The role will involve analyzing data, applying statistical techniques, data science, data analytics, and data analysis to solve business challenges and enhance decision-making processes.

    Tasks:

    Work on complex Data & Analytics projects
    Apply data science to take on a variety of challenges
    Transferring data into a new format to make it more appropriate for analysis.
    Develop predictive models
    Build easy-to-use tools to automate data collection
    Manage and compile structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from various sources to provide meaningful insights
    Simplify and visualize data/information for mass consumption by non-technical audiences across the company

    Qualification

    Bachelors in Data Science and Machine Learning
    2 Years experience as a Data Scientist
    Two or more years of projects experience
    Professional Certification
