The Successful Candidate Shall Report To The President, The Management Committee And The Governing Council, Of The Academy And Shall
The Executive Director of the Academy works from its registered office which is based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Executive Director shall be responsible for the day to day management of the affairs of the Academy under the oversight of the President and the Management Committee.
Be responsible for the recruitment, appointment, supervision and dismissal of staff, the general administration of the Secretariat in accordance with the Governing Council approved HR Policy of the Academy;
Be responsible for the administration of the Academy including its finances; and ensuring that Academy accounts are audited annually;
Present requests for the approval for new programmes and report on progress of on-going programmes;
Ensure that programmes and activities approved by the Governing Council are appropriately implemented;
Seek approval for change in staff establishment;
Implement the resolutions made at the General Assembly and the Governing Council;
Coordinate activities related to the recruitment, nomination, evaluation and induction procedures of AAS Fellows;
Support the Governing Council in formulating and implementing the policies of the Academy;
Serve as ex-officio member and Secretary of the Governing Council and Management Committee of the Academy;
Carry out of any other duties assigned by the President and the Management Committee;
Engage very assiduously in funds mobilization efforts for the Academy;Serve as an Ex-Officio member of the Audit and Risk Committee;
Serve as ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment Fund.
Qualifications And Attributes
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and attributes:
Hold a doctorate degree preferably in the Sciences from a recognised university;
Be a full Professor;
Not necessarily a fellow of AAS, but be acquainted with activities of an Academy;
Must have been at least a Dean or institutional level Director of an African university or Research Institute;
Excellent research and publications track record; and must currently be engaged in research and publications;
Outstanding record of fund raising for research;
Excellent managerial and leadership skills;

Responsibilities for the Company Secretary Job
Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be required but not limited to;
Serve as Secretary to the Board of Directors
Ensure effective management of legal risks through compliance with legal norms and corporate governance standards
Monitor the operating environment and advising the company on the necessary policy changes in line with changes in the law and regulatory environment.
In liaison with the company advocates, conduct legal research and render advise to the company as necessary
Analyse insurance matters and advise Management on the same

At least 5 years practical experience

Forest Inventory Planner
The Inventory Planner (IP) will play a number of crucial roles in support of KCFP including: advising and facilitating partners on all aspects of forest management planning; advising on Management Information Systems and supporting their adoption; and delivering training. While part of the technical forestry team, the IP will also play an important bridging function in terms of generating and aggregating information and data required by KCFP’s Forestry Analytics Unit.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in Geographic Information Systems, commercial forest planning, forest yield regulation and valuation. S/he will have at least three years of relevant experience in forest resources assessment and management and application of spatial and non-spatial analysis plus a BSc in a related field.
Candidates must be Kenyan nationals and must have a degree in forestry and/or some forestry experience. -

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Group Head of Human Resources, the job holder will responsible for supporting the overall business strategy and helping the business grow through it employees and Learning and Development initiatives.
He/She will be responsible for employee training and development programs that prepare staff to successfully carry out the mission of the organization and will also be responsible for developing and enhancing the Groups’ talent through a robust retention strategy.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a learning strategy and platform to deliver various approaches to effective learning and development, including an approach to organizational wide coaching – building our internal capability and ensuring that we build capacity by utilising the strengths of those who work for and alongside us.
Manage training needs assessment for individual staff as well as for the organization, in consultation with departmental heads, including assessment methods and measurement tools.

Duties:-
Monitoring & Evaluation and Learning
Monitor development and implementation of programme activities with particular focus on results, impacts and lesson learning
Promote results based approach to M&E emphasizing
Provide support and guidance to programme staff on M&E activities
Follow up on monthly reports from staff on programme progress
Provide feedback on programme reports highlighting areas of concern and progress and
Ensure timely submission of organization reports especially to donors
Generate secretariat and organization annual reports based on programme reports from staff

Advice on developing relationships with strategic partners, NGOs, government agencies, companies, foundations and other organizations and individuals to create collaborations that will raise profile with potential donors or create partnerships in fundraising.
Qualifications
