    Head of Education

    The Head of Education will provide strategic and technical leadership to develop transformative approaches for Education, and Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives of BRAC International (BI). This position will report to the Director-Programmes, S/he will work with the team to ensure programme standards and systems are in place and implemented across BI countries. S/he will also ensure linkages to institutional advocacy, partnerships, fundraising, and internal technical and functional teams, and ensures consistency of approaches with other associated members of BRAC International. The Head of Education will establish a strong collaborative relationship with other key teams across BRAC and BRAC International.
    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead the Education and ECD team, and oversee the implementation of programme strategy, work plan and initiatives.
    Develop transformative technical approaches for education and ECD and promote innovation for learning and scale up.
    Assist country management on developing strategic direction to country education, and ECD programme by ensuring transformation of BRAC values & learning to BRAC International.
    Provide technical support and guidance to the team to design, implement, monitor and evaluate the programmes through communication and regular field visit to the countries as requested and necessary.
    Help country management to design new projects/proposals and review and provide technical input on proposals.
    Fosters donor relations and ensures consistent fundraising for education, and ECD programming for BI countries.
    Bring innovation in terms of digitally enabled education, and ECD programme to address newness in the system.
    Review and provide technical input on internal and external impact documents/ reports and other documents as needed.
    Build relationships with key stakeholders, affiliates and partners.
    Build capacity of the team and ensure the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned from the programmes.

    Safeguarding Responsibilities:

    Establish a safeguarding culture across all level of the programme by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
    Responsible to ensure team members are appropriately trained, supported and have access to resources regarding issues that are identified and actioned in accordance with the safeguarding policy and procedure.
    Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

    Educational Requirements:

    Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, ECD, International Development or any other related field.

    Responsibilities

    Education
    Payment: The internship is home-based, full time and unpaid. Costs of travel and accommodation, as well as living expenses, are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    The Swiss funded UN-REDD Africa Forestry Forum (AFF) partnership will contribute to improved REDD+ implementation and increased results-based payments in the African region, the overall goals of the project are to:

    Strengthen African countries’ REDD+ capacities and knowledge,
     enhance sectoral policy coordination to guide appropriate REDD+ strategies and decision-making.

    This position is home-based in Africa, under the supervision of Programme Management Officer UN-REDD Programme.
    Working as part of the UN-REDD KM and Africa team and responding to partner country needs, outlined in the UN-REDD AFF prodoc, the project management and capacity development consultant will be responsible for facilitating a close coordination and collaboration with AFF as well as a timely delivery of the high-quality outputs expected from project implementation, such as knowledge exchanges, policy dialogues, trainings, communities of practice and advocacy side events. Furthermore, the consultant will support communicating success stories and lessons learned from UN-REDD’s African partner countries.
    The consultant will perform the following tasks:

    Coordinate collaboration across three UN-REDD partner agencies, the project partner AFF and African governmental counterparts.
    Lead the implementation of the project following its concept note, work plan, and list of deliverables.
    Lead the contextualization of existing UN-REDD knowledge.

    A minimum of seven years of relevant work experience in capacity development is required.
    Experience working on REDD+ and/or Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use
    AFOLU) is desirable.

    Prepare a Response to Comments annex for the main report, listing those comments not accepted by the Evaluation Consultant and indicating the reason for the rejection; and
    (Where agreed with the Evaluation Manager) prepare an Evaluation Brief (2-page summary of the evaluand and the key evaluation findings and lessons)

    Managing relations, including:

    Qualifications/special skills

    Monitor social media accounts for comments and questions from users;
    Conduct research on social media developments and tactics;
    Participate in and conduct staff trainings on social media use;
    Coordinate with UNEP’s social media account operators in non-English languages to ensure the content published to all relevant audiences;
    Respond to content management issues that arise in the daily performance of the activities;
    Serve as the Social Media Unit focal point for report launches and other initiatives;
    Liaise with UNEP Regional Offices as necessary;
    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Results/Expected Outputs

    Social media platforms updated with the frequency in line with UNEP social media strat-egies;
    UNEP content on social media channels is posted in accordance with organizational edi-torial practices;
    Social media metrics and analytics reports provided in a timely manner;

    Required experience

    3 years of experience in digital media;
    Expertise in creating content for major social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Tik-Tok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.);
    Strong experience creating visual (photo and video) assets for use on social media channels;
    Knowledge and experience using social media monitoring, analytics, and scheduling tools.

    Required education level

    Main purpose
    The holder of the position shall be responsible for coordination of AAIK’s programmes on Land and Resilient Livelihoods and its intersectionality.     Minimum Requirements

    Responsibilities

    Under the general supervision of the Head of the Nairobi Convention Secretariat and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator of the SAPPHIRE Project, the consultant will be responsible for the following

    Assist with the daily administrative functions of the unit, draft routine correspondence, respond to enquiries in respect to relevant administrative and human resources matters.
    Perform general administration functions to the operations and programme team in relation to obtaining vendor quotations, compiling procurement documents, vendor registration, and banking details upload. Raise requisitions for procurement and finance in the system for purchase of various office requirements. Ensure procurement policies have been followed
    Manage contracts between the UN and external contractors for outsourced services. Audit the contractors’ invoices against the goods and services.
    Provide administrative support to unit’s meetings; typing and distributing minutes/reports as required.
    Assist in travel arrangements and organization of meetings, workshops, international conferences, liaise with relevant offices at UNEP regarding allocation of meeting rooms, preparation of agenda, list of participants as well as sending out invitations.
    Processing and subsequent follow-up of travel authorizations, organizing tickets, advise on visa acquisition, and arranging for travel advance with Payments Unit,
    Prepare pre-encumbrance for stock requisitions for the office and ensure availability of adequate supplies.
    Support in monitoring accounts and processing of payments to vendors, consultants and individual contractors for services. Review & submission of invoices, delivery notes, POs & Terms of References (ToRs) and other supporting documents
    Communicate with participants on trainings, venue, HR mini master forms and bank documents.
    Prepare documentation for meetings and Missions; meetings and reports.
    Organize and coordinate documents related to seminars, conferences and translations, drafting of agreements.
    Assist to process implementing partner agreements; maintain projects databases and reporting.
    Assist in following up with implementing partners for submission of financial expenditure reports; review of documents and reports; assist in project data compilation and facilitate feedback from stakeholders and implementing partners
    Process payment requests, expense reports, agreement amendments for implementing partners in the Umoja grantor programme
    Assist to coordinate activities of budget in budget implementation and monitoring of expenditure

    Qualifications/special Skills

    Academic Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Supplementary training in either business administration, finance, procurement, travel, programme management or contracts management is desirable.
    Experience in the usage of computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel etc.) is required.
    Practical experience in ERP systems such as UMOJA is desired.
    Prior experience in an international organization such as UN, INGO is desirable.
    Excellent organizational and communication skills is desirable.

    Languages

    Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
