    The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Program Analyst.
    The Position: The Program Analyst will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and report to the Regional Food Scientist. This position will also assist in providing Finance and Administrative support for the implementation of the Food and Nutrition Evaluation Laboratory and other food science related value addition projects as stated in the current FANEL Business plan.
    Key responsibilities:

    Provide administrative and management support to the Food and Nutritional Evaluation Laboratory (FANEL) and value chain projects led by the Food Scientist.
    Assist with project communications (appointments, reports, booking meeting rooms / venues and equipment, drafting of correspondence for the Regional Food Scientist and FANEL associates;
    Coordinate travel arrangements and logistical support – including the handling of travel requests and liquidations, accommodation, and arranging for meals for the project events;
    Provide support to FANEL team in planning for regional advocacy events, workshops and meetings;
    Compile presentations, mailing lists and distribution of project publications;
    Maintenance of office filing system (manual and electronic) including backup, archiving and storage;
    Assist in managing FANEL FLOW system for lab management, costing, procurement and payment of bills;
    Handling maintenance of office and FANEL assets and keeping an inventory of equipment and supplies;
    Backstopping the country food science and value addition partners in Malawi, Uganda and Ethiopia programs to effectively execute similar duties;
    Assisting with the preparation of and regular financial reporting with CIP Finance and PMU teams;
    Any other duties given by the Regional Food Scientist.

    Selection Criteria

    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Management or related field.
    At least 2 years of experienced required in similar position.
    Advanced level of MS Office, preferably in Excel.
    Advanced qualitative and quantitative analytical skills;
    Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili. Working knowledge of French will be an added advantage.

    Food for the Hungry is seeking applicants for the Chief of Party of an anticipated USAID Title II Development Food Security Activity (DFSA) program. The program will seek to improve the food and income security of vulnerable populations in the arid lands of Kenya by improving livestock and crop productivity; improving the nutrition and health status of adolescent girls, children less than five years and women of reproductive age; strengthening economic livelihood opportunities; improving participation in governance, social accountability and community development; improving markets for rural and peri-urban communities; and assisting communities to effectively prepare for and manage drought. The core purpose of the Chief of Party is to provide leadership in the management and implementation of a USAID Title II Food for Peace funded Development Food Security Activity (DFSA).     POSITION IN THE ORGANSIATION.
    The Cluster Manager is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the Program Director. He /She manages a team of between 3-8 employees directly. The Cluster Manager provides leadership to all staff within the cluster comprising of 8-50 employees and supervises all technical aspects within the assigned sector.
    PURPOSE OF THE JOB
    The Cluster Manager has the responsibility for managing program planning and implementation, management of personnel, M&E and finance management within the cluster ensuring the integration of all sectors and the transformational development of churches, leaders and families. The Cluster Manager is part of a management structure that represents the program to the local government structure and community structures and is expected to ensure that FH Kenya increasingly achieves community transformation through quality assurance in project implementation and applying the organization’s Heartbeat (Values, Vision and Purpose) as well as coordination of efforts at cluster level.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Percentages are approximate and other duties may be assigned).
    Key Result #1 – Program Planning and Management (40%)

    Take lead in conducting situation need assessments in the program/cluster areas and designs appropriate intervention plans in line with the country strategic plans
    Take lead and support in proposal writing, reporting and fund raising for humanitarian work in program/cluster areas.
    Lead the yearly, quarterly and monthly planning process for all projects in the area/cluster and share the developed plan with the Program Director and Finance Manager
    Lead the implementation process on a daily basis and report any discrepancies observed in the program implementation timely to the Program Director.
    Promote collaborative working relationships between stakeholders and the operational projects and to ensure maximum synergy within the program/cluster area for maximum impact, influence and scale up of the program

    Key Result #2 – Documentation, Reporting and M&E (20%)

    In close liaison with the area/cluster teams, ensure that periodic progress reports (quarterly, bi-annual and annual) for different projects in the area/cluster are prepared and submitted within agreed reporting timelines and in accordance with the established donor and organizational formats
    In close collaboration with M&E Manager and other program staff ensure that M&E processes are undertaken and feedback is continuously incorporated into program implementation
    Ensure proper documentation of program activities and best practices
    Conduct monthly program staff meeting for better integration and smooth program implementation within the program/cluster area

    Key Result #3 – Financial and Human Resource Management (30%)

    Ensure effective and efficient financial management and accounting for all income and expenditures pertaining to the program/cluster.
    Support the administrative function in safeguarding FH’s property, including land, buildings, vehicles and others to ensure they are well maintained and protected from risk
    Develop financial budgets and budget revisions that are in tandem with program activities and ensure that the monthly budget utilization is as per the cash flow and planned activities
    Ensure /oversee the preparation of annual cash flow projections and manage the quarterly cash requests based on planned and approved activities and within the financial management procedures
    Ensure monthly financial reports are prepared and submitted and follow donor and FH finance guidelines

    The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking an experienced Consultant – Qualitative Researcher to document the market system of the Orange Fleshed Sweetpotato (OFSP) as part of reports being prepared at the end of a three-year project.
    As the Accelerated Value Chain Development Program (AVCD)- Sweetpotato value chain comes to an end, there is need to document in form of a technical paper the status of OFSP marketing following 3 years of project activities within a value chain approach. The aim of the value chain has been to move OFSP from a subsistence crop to a commercial crop. Project activities related to production concentrated in Western Kenya, while market related activities moved to the producing counties to towns such as Naivasha, Limuru and Nairobi. This consultancy will thus involve reviews of project documents, existing literature, key informants’ Interviews among other approaches of data collection.
    Key responsibilities:

    Review relevant recent documents to be provided by the project team.
    Review project’s market related monitoring data for trends in market development during project implementation period.
    Hold key informant Interviews with key stakeholders within the market segment of the value chain.

    About the role
    The successful candidate will support the daily operations of the Food and Nutritional Evaluation Laboratory (FANEL), Nutrition and Food Safety Platform, Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) research hub at the campus of the International Livestock Research Institute). The position involves extensive interdisciplinary collaboration with crop scientists and crop modeling experts and with partners in other collaborating institutions. As part of a local team of Education Specialists and in collaboration with teams across Africa, this role is focused solely on the professional development of school leaders, mentors, and teachers to support effective management, teaching and learning, and supporting effective school development planning processes.
    This includes:

    Establish and manage a portfolio of affordable private school clusters, a maximum of 13 networks of affordable private schools with an average of 6 schools per cluster.
    Facilitate regular cluster meetings (3 per cluster per academic term) to train school leaders and teachers on best practices as outlined by established criteria.
    Digital-based reporting and data collection on all program activities using ODK on company provided mobile tablets.
    Encourage Joint Practice Development (subject specific training of trainers within clusters) so that innovations and best practices become embedded within teaching practices.
    Support school leaders and teachers in completing school self-assessments and school development plans against established domains of education quality outlined in Pathways to Excellence, a school development planning manual.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Degree in a field related to school-based education; or education development, but with significant experience in the education field.

    Project Management Officer – TAAT Senior Research Associate

    The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking an experienced Project Management Officer to work directly under Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation Project (TAAT) and help ensure they deliver on-time, within the applicable scope and budget.
    The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of TAAT project, set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of project. If you enjoy working with other professionals dedicated to achieving food security, we encourage you to apply.
    The Position: The PMO will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and report to the Head of Project Management Unit. This position will also assist in ensuring that project staff follow CIP policies and procedures while adhering to donor rules and regulations while acting as the liaison between project field offices and Kenya-based interdepartmental teams to ensure projects are successful. The job requires travel to field sites (up to 25% of time).
    Key responsibilities:

    Project implementation and compliance: Serve as primary point of contact for TAAT project operations during and after the life of the project; Deliver and maintain professional working relationships with internal clients and other project partners and ensure resource availability and allocation;
    Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor progress against project output and provide feedback as needed; Measure project performance using appropriate tools and dispatched to donors’ representatives; Maintain comprehensive project documentation;
    Support on administrative processes inherent to Project implementation, following the AfDB Disbursement Handbook, AfDB Procurement Guidelines, other donor contractual requirements and CIP’s internal processes;
    Administrative and logistics support on the project execution and organization of events;
    Organize and manage reception and filing of project documents;
    Review records, accounting and financial controls of the activities carried out in the project;
    Obtain clearance from donor, whenever required;
    Prepare donor reports, observing the contractual requirements. He / She will also be responsible for preparing the relevant documentation for audits;
    Monitoring and budget implementation, follow-up of regulations established by donor and carry out capacity building activities for project team and partners;
    Review the project monthly account closure and prepare the required reports for the project manager;
    Other tasks assigned, related to the work area.

    Selection Criteria

    Bachelor’s degree in in Business Administration, Financial Management or related field. Master’s degree in Development, Administration and/or Project Management, will be desirable;
    At least 6 years’ experience working with African development bank projects and familiarity with their guidelines;
    Proficient in MS Office, especially in Excel;
    Advanced Knowledge in software solutions (ERP);
    Proficiency in project management software tools;
    Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
    Working knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
