    Strategy Development and Program Design (30%)

    In close collaboration with the CD, provide strategic direction of FH Kenya programs implementation and foster program integration in line with existing FY23/24 strategic priorities as well as FH’s programming model.
    Identify new donors and maintain donor relations to secure appropriate resources
    for national programs in accordance with budget targets and maintaining a diversity of future funding options for the office.

    Provide leadership and management of relief and development programming in FH
    Kenya from preparedness to relief response.
    Ensure FH programing incorporates design elements relating to reducing impact of climate change/climate change adaptation among participants in areas of operation.

    Provide Leadership and management of FH Kenya Programs (30%)

    Coordinate and direct program planning processes to ensure engagement and buy in
    from stakeholders, integration of programs, proper understanding of programobjectives and results framework.
    Provide program and budget oversight to ensure that all planned activities, outputs and impacts are achieved over the life of each program.
    Ensure complete, timely and accurate program documentation for all FH Kenya
    programs, including approved proposals and budgets, annual fiscal and narrative
    reports, communication requests and capacity statements.
    In coordination with the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager/Coordinator/Officer, support active monitoring and evaluation of all programs and incorporating learning
    from project/program evaluations into future design of programs
    Support the CD in drafting agreements and MoUs as needed with potential partners such as, but not limited to, government line ministries, consortium partners, local partners and so on.
    Line manage the Area Program Managers, Technical Advisors and Coordinators to ensure successful implementation of projects.
    This will involve ensuring adequate monitoring, reviewing progress, reviewing beneficiary feedback, identifying corrective actions required and project/program learning activities.
    Facilitate the timely submission of quality program reports in accordance with required reporting formats.
    Provide support in undertaking partner capacity assessments and development of local partners.

    Representation and External Relations (10%)

    Support the CD with representation at different government levels, helping to ensure
    constructive working relationships are maintained to allow expansion and growth of
    FH’s transformation development in Kenya.
    In conjunction with the CD and other staff, represent FH Kenya at relevant
    interagency technical networks and working groups as necessary.
    Support the CD in policy influencing (advocacy related to development initiatives)
    activities at the country and county level.
    Ensure effective communication and feedback between FH Kenya, key stakeholders and donors.

    Staff and financial management (30%)

    Lead and manage staff: ensuring clarity on FH strategy, plans and priorities. This
    includes guiding, coaching, mentoring and promoting effective teamwork and inclusivity.
    Provide management support and spiritual leadership to direct reports and other staff as required.
    Contribute to developing and modeling FH’s culture, mindsets and behaviors;
    characterized by a shared vision, commitment and mutual accountability to FH’s Heartbeat.

    Pharmacy Supervisor Laboratory Supervisor

    Main Purpose
    Ensuring general functioning of the pharmacy and supervising pharmacy supply chain processes in accordance with MSF standards, protocols and procedures, in order to ensure its efficiency and operating availability.
    Accountabilities

    Ensuring storage, stock management and supply processes, as well as hygiene and security procedures, tools, and protocols (controlling pests and rodents), implementing appropriate quality controls and records, in order to ensure good storage conditions (temperatures, humidity and light exposure) and availability of drugs and medical material, according to MSF protocols, national regulations and in cooperation with the logistics department.
    Coordinating the delivery, reception and recording of international and local orders, in close coordination with the logistics department, updating stock files and informing line managers on their status (shortfalls, overstocking, expiry dates), in order to permanently ensure security stock levels and ensure efficient management of stock.
    Supervising orders of medical and drug material in order to ensure an efficient and appropriate consumption pattern under budget constraints.
    Supervising the supply of drugs to patients, according to medical prescriptions, informing them on consumption patterns and keeping conditions in order to ensure their therapeutic progression
    Ensuring efficient supply to other pharmacies managed/supported by MSF according to orders and stocks, and using cold chain when needed. Monitoring and analysing orders of depending pharmacies in order to avoid ruptures of stock or having expired drugs.
    Supervising, with the HR department, the associated processes (sizing, staff shifts, recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal/external communication) of the pharmaceutical team and the nursing staff, in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required and to improve their dispensing capabilities.
    Recording all items received and issued in computer (Isystock) and reporting on drug consumptions and medical equipment dispensed according to protocols, informing on unusual patterns as well as forecasting future needs, in order to rationalise the budget and to ensure availability.
    Assisting in training of nursing staff regarding dispensing of drugs and their side effects

    MSF Section/Context-Specific Accountabilities

    Data entry: He/she will ensure prompt data entry of all the IN and OUT into the project consumption data tool, this will be on the basis of stock cards update.  
    Follow up and ensures full implementation of project pharmacy standard operational procedures (bimonthly / weekly orders, expired drug, stock card update, DDA registration book. etc) pharmacy procedures in regard to the project SOPs.
    Data management: ensures that pharmacy related data are properly and securely kept as per the existing procedures. Pharmacy data tool ensures timely and accurate update of the project data tool for the periodic analysis by the Pharmacy Manager.
    Pharmacy order documents management: he/she should ensure that all the departmental order processing documents/requests are properly filed. Prescription/tally sheet handling: Ensures the entire project prescriptions (CP, OPD pharmacy, Health Posts etc.) are safely and securely handled/ filed as per the law.
    Distribution of commodities and order servicing: he/she will participate in the verification of orders to the departments so as to ensure accuracy. Will also assist in the confirmation of the bi-monthly orders as at the time of reception.
    Ensure maintained daily supervision of pharmacy drugs dispensing activities within OPD and Central Pharmacy.
    Ensure pharmacy incentive staffs duty roters and leave plans are up to date.
    Ensure constant referral emergency boxes update follow up within the project.
    Departmental emergency trays update follow up.
    Constant follow up and compilation of expired items within the project.
    Follow up on the EPREP stock rotations within the project.
    Follow up on stock status of compound clinic/safe rooms and car kits regularly.

    Requirements

    Main Purpose
    Planning, organizing and carrying out laboratory activities and supervising the laboratory staff according to MSF protocols, security measures and hygiene standards, in order to support the MSF medical team in the diagnosis of patients’ diseases.
    Accountabilities

    Participating in the project planning and follow-up and reviewing the laboratory budget when necessary in order to support MSF’s medical activities.

Etc.) in order to have a proper recording of laboratory activities. Preparing and sending slides/samples for external quality control.
    Supervising, in close coordination with the Hospital Director, the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, coaching, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
    Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
    Producing regular reports on the testing and on any issues / problems related to laboratory personnel and / or the material used.

    MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

    Day-to-day running and coordination of all laboratory activities. On the job and theoretical teaching/training of auxiliary laboratory technician’s frequent supervision and support to the auxiliary lab tech working in the HP.
    Weekly blood supply management through deputy-Medco request if require from the donor
    Collect samples in an appropriate manner and according to the criteria in place, for further processing of sample in other locations (Nairobi, Lancet MSFF etc.). Ensure that results reach their destination timely.
    Ensure the equipment is available, handled carefully and that consumable goods are available and ordered in due time.
    Facilitate any needs relating to epidemic surveillance.
    Supervise the health post and lab consumable material and drugs, weekly order is done according to schedule agreed by project pharmacy managers, follow-up of daily, weekly registration books and reports. The storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption related to departments.
    Part of the emergency team and also on–call providing support for emergency laboratory investigations at short notice round the clock as needed.
    Use appropriate, PPE’s provided by the facility while in the clinical setting and when attending to patients.
    Support capacity building of nurses, clinical officers and doctors in regard to making them proficient to perform point of care rapid tests on their own.

    Essential degree as Laboratory Technician
    Essential 2 years’ experience in a laboratory, preferably as a Lab Tech.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAIN TASKS

    Support on the implementation and monitoring of Watsan field community subprojects/projects and strategies for the countries of his/her region. Assisting to the evaluation of the impact of the projects.

    Propose innovative solutions or add to the existing solutions of water provision in emergencies for different communities in the region (i. e. kits for hand pumps maintenance and repair…).
    Technical support for deploying water provision, and eventually, developing water provision lobby tool and follow up, in case of need.

    Waste Management

    There is a growing interest and priority in the house to ensure proper management of hospital waste (hazardous waste and hospital waste (liquid/solid) as to minimize the environmental health impact our projects have and reducing in the coming years MSF carbon footprint. In these lines, the position will assist on:
    Skimming for regional solutions on hazardous waste management.
    Supporting the field teams to embrace waste management policies in the countries of visit.
    Punctually supporting on the implementation of wastewater treatment solutions.

    Technical education related to water and sanitation.
    Capacity to understand and analyze the links between morbidities and Watsan conditions, and experience in specific programs that involve a link between Watsan related morbidities.
    At least 2 years of WASH experience in the field.
    Experience working at community level, with community engagement in terms of water and sanitation is a plus.
    Previous field experience with MSF in Watsan is a plus.
    Good understanding of computers and new technologies.
    Experience in training of staff.
    Good written and oral communications skills.
    Ability to set priorities and organize his/her own work.
    Fluent written and spoken English and French or/and Portuguese is an added asset.
    Ability to work in remote and stressful context with reduced amenities during field visits.
    Flexibility and ability to adjust to rapidly changing contexts and plans.
    Availability to travel in the region, in some remote areas and eventually beyond the region depending on the needs (up to 60%).

    CONDITIONS

    Position based in MSF office in Nairobi, Kenya with up to 60% of travel.
    Contract duration: 1 year.
    Full-time job.
    Annual gross salary: level HQ-3A – KES 2,358,905 (divided into twelve monthly payments) + secondary benefits based on Eastern Africa Reward Policy.
    Practical working conditions while in the field are as per the MSF-OCBA guideline.

    The Press Officer assists the Media Manager with defining the media strategy for MSF Eastern Africa and its implementation, with an overall aim of and implements press relations and activities in order to increase MSF’s presence in Kenyan and East African media, working to establish MSF as a referent on international humanitarian crises and topics.
    Tasks & Responsibilities
    Media Management

    Establishes and fosters strong relationships with journalists, editors and producers within print, radio, TV and online media in Kenya and East Africa in order to expand media outreach. Updates the media contacts list on a rolling basis. 
    Proactively pitches stories and contents that help to increase the visibility of MSF in Kenya and East Africa. Proposes, organizes and facilitates interviews, articles, press conferences and briefings with journalists.
    Distributes press releases and other information and materials to the media in coordination and conjunction with MSF’s international communications network and adapts them, when necessary, to the specificities of the Kenyan and East African contexts. 
    Identifies, develops and implements ideas and opportunities for feature articles and interviews in external media that promote awareness of MSF, its international fieldwork and advocacy efforts.
    Coordinates and manages press requests, connecting media with MSF spokespeople, experts and field representatives when necessary. Acts as the first point of contact for institutional media enquiries from Kenyan media, in close collaboration with communications colleagues in the country.
    Monitors MSF mentions in the press, as well as other stories of interest to the organisation, producing regular reports of media narratives and trends. Analyzes trends and priority issues in the media agenda, identifying communication opportunities, risks, and advising on strategies. 
    Takes part in an on-call system to respond to media requests out of hours.

    Collaborations

    Supports other departments in the NBO, such as the East Africa Association in developing and implementing communication and dissemination strategies to achieve their specific objectives, providing the necessary validated operational information and ensuring the quality and consistency of the outputs.
    When requested, gives support to Kenya and East Africa operational missions through proactive dissemination and pitching of their communications packages and materials.
    Works closely with other members of the communications department to ensure an integrated and coherent approach to the NBO’s public communication and positioning.
    Maintains regular contact with MSF communications colleagues at a local, regional and international level, in order to share information and best practice, ensure coordination and identify opportunities.
    Is available to act as Emergency Press Officer, and travel to the field in case of major field emergencies, during a crisis, to support journalist visits or to produce content.

    Administration and training

    Uploads content on the MSF EA website and digital platforms as needed.
    Provides media training and coaching on public speaking to MSF spokespeople, including staff and field workers.
    Assists with quarterly and annual reporting as needed. 
    Upholds MSF principles and ethical guidelines at all times.

    Qualifications

    Degree in journalism, communications or relevant field related to MSF´s subject area.
    Experience in journalism or press relations.
    Excellent writing, editing and communications skills in English, with another regional language an advantage.
    Knowledge of the Kenyan and East African media.
    Previous work experience with MSF or a similar medical or humanitarian organisation is highly desirable.
    Commitment to MSF’s humanitarian principles and ethical approach.
    Experience of working in a dynamic, fast paced, multicultural environment with a focus on results.
    Ability to plan and organise, as well as to be flexible to emerging events and to seize opportunities. 
    Good team working and networking skills.

    What We Offer

    ​A 4 months employment contract through MSF East Africa Section Office in Nairobi.
    An annual salary of KES 2,358,905 at Level 3A based on a short-term appointment.
    Social benefit package; allowances ranging between KES 30,000-36,000/month based on individual & administrative status. 
    Other benefits include; 25 days of annual leave, Employer Pension contribution and medical insurance cover (staff and family) based on MSF EA terms/conditions.

    Objective of the Position:
    According to the protocols assigned to the function, carry out cleaning activities to ensure the hygiene and disinfection of surfaces and materials.
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Perform tasks related to hygiene and disinfection according to the protocols applied in the service, know and apply the specific hygiene protocols and safety rules. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
    Maintain clean and disinfect the infrastructures allocated to his position, including furniture, doors, walls and floor, medical equipment (patient rooms, consultation rooms, laboratory, operating room, delivery room, staff room, storage room, kitchen, bathroom, and latrines) applying specific protocols and using the tools and equipment provided. Clean floors, equipment, beds, toilets and showers according to protocols and plan the schedule
    Collect and evacuate the waste produced by the medical structures towards the designated site, previously organized by the medical staff, empty the bins as often as necessary to ensure an effective quality of care and a safe environment.
    Report any necessary repairs or maintenance related to hygiene to the supervisor, along with any relevant information related to his responsibilities.
    Raise awareness of hygiene and sanitation measures among patients, visitors, staff, mothers to properly use water distribution points, latrines, hand washing areas, in collaboration with the health promotion and nursing team.
    Fill all water containers every morning (drinking water and hand washing areas) and refill them when they are half full. To wash your hands, make sure soap is available.
    Install mosquito nets as required for the use of hospital beds and Conduct laundry activities according to protocols.
    Ensure that equipment and tools are properly used and maintained. Ensure the availability of hygiene and sanitation products and establish prescriptions for ongoing needs.
    Notify line manager of any repair or maintenance needs and share all relevant information related to his/her responsibilities.

    Requirements
    Education:

    Essential High school Certificate/Certificate in housekeeping

    Experience:

    Desirable at least 1 year of experience working in a similar position/ experience working with Youth is a plus

    Languages:

    Essential local language Kiswahili and English
