    The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a Consultant to design and construct four collection centers to aggregate potatoes and inputs. The collection centers are targeted to be built in Elgeyo-Marakwet, Meru, Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties.
    The Assignment: CIP is supporting potato marketing cooperatives and seed multipliers to develop into functioning businesses through the Accelerated Value Chain Development (AVCD) project, potato value chain. A component of this support involves constructing collection centers to aggregate and sort potato for markets and receive collective input orders to distribute to cooperative members.
    Under the AVCD project, the Consultant will work in close collaboration with CIP and the farmer cooperatives to build the four collection centers, with an expected capacity of 50 to 100 tonnes, with shelving for short-term storage and tables to assist sorting. The assignment is to visit the proposed site to design the collection center for each cooperative ensuring all materials and labour requirements are listed to ease procurement by CIP, followed by supervising and managing construction of the collection centers.
    The responsibilities of the assignment are to:

    Visit the proposed sites making a brief report on all the necessary/relevant technical assessments on the proposed sites for the purpose of design and construction.
    Design the collection centers, including preparing a list of all required materials and equipment to construct the collection centers;
    Submit the designs, list of materials required for the construction of the collection centers and construction schedule for each collection center;
    Supervise/manage construction of the collection centers

    The successful Consultant will have:

    Experience of not less than 10 years working in a busy construction company(ies) involved in designing and management of construction projects
    Technical knowledge in building construction or any other related field (at least a diploma)
    Must be a team player, able to coordinate well with cooperatives and CIP.
    Must have been accredited by the national construction authority at least as a building supervisor.
    Knowledge in potato post handling/ storage practices or a in a similar project in the past shall be an added advantage.

    Conditions: The employment contract will be for the duration agreed upon to design and construct the collection centers.

    The job activities include but are not limited to;

    Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC 1 and CEmONC 2), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardised protocols.

    Main Tasks include:

    The position: Student will be responsible for coordinating and managing Sandponics experiment for rapid multiplication of sweetpotato planting material.
    Duties and Accountabilities:

    Compare the Sandponics system with conventional screen house multiplication per unit output/cost/time;
    Develop optimal nutrient media for N/P/K for sweetpotato;
    Maintain sweetpotato clones in greenhouse/screenhouse;
    Maintain records and standard operation procedures on Sandponics experiment;
    Manage and supervise operations in screen houses (Preparation of substrate, potting, planting, watering, spraying, harvesting, sorting, packaging, labeling);
    Supervise hardening TC plantlets and multiplication of varieties through cuttings;
    Data entry;
    Sharing of experiences with Sandponics units in other sub-Saharan African countries through active participation in the seed system and crop management community of practice virtual and in person meetings.

    Selection Criteria:

    Bachelor’s degree Agriculture or a closely related discipline;
    Enrolled in master’s program with coursework completed by January 2018;
    Experience managing plants in greenhouses or screenhouses;

    The HRH Management Advisor will provide strategic direction and technical oversight for the planning and implementation of interventions and mechanisms required for effective management of HRH systems in the focus Counties and sub-counties. This will include: evidence-based human resource planning; development and management including recruitment, deployment, and retention; and health education and health workforce regulation. The Management Advisor is expected to strengthen human resource directorates in the focus Counties and provide training in HRM to selected staff so they can become effective HR managers. S/he will contribute to HRM program learning and research.
    S/he is responsible for achieving required project results through effective project planning and management, technical assistance, administration and oversight, monitoring and evaluation. S/he ensures a comprehensive approach to workforce capacity development and provides programmatic leadership to ensure seamless planning, implementation of activities, and technical support, in close collaboration with USAID funded HRH Kenya Project.

    Specific Responsibilities
    Planning and project development, implementation and delivery of technical results:

    The Security Manager will oversee and ensure mitigation of risks posed to the program, personnel and assets of Pact through provision of specialized, coordinated and focused security management support for the proposed European Union Trust Fund, a three-year collaboration in Cross-Border Areas of the Horn of Africa Region: the Kenya-Ethiopia-Somalia border to prevent local conflict and mitigate its impact. This position is based in Mandera and will report to the Country Director.
    Roles

    Review and make recommendations regarding safety/security requirements of the Mandera/Lodwar offices and liaise regularly with the Country Director on emerging threats and specific security conditions.
    Develop a solid understanding of the Pact security management system and keep abreast of all changes and developments as they occur.
    Ensure all relevant safety/security information is disseminated in a timely manner to all staff and to the extent possible the partners.     Job Qualifications

    The Nairobi Branch office has identified a new Office Location, and intends to move the current office by end of March 2018, and handing over the current premises back to the owner by/before 30th April 2018.
    The main objective for this position will be to ensure that the change/move of office is done effectively and efficiently, and that all processes and activities linked to moving of the office and hand over of the current premises are done within the defined timelines.
    She/he will be working closely with local suppliers, constructors, designers and together with the technical expertise from Barcelona to ensure that the project is delivered within the time required and with the expected quality.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

    Carry out the review of the current service contracts, and identify needs for new contracts of supply for various services, activity license, etc. that are necessary for a proper operation.
    Engage with the service providers to ensure that smooth transition occurs for all activities, and guaranteed support after completion of the works.
    Review the inventory of office materials to ensure proper orders as per the specific needs identified.
    Engage with various departments/staff to ensure specifications and requirements are met.
    Carry out the procurement of (new/additional) furniture and fittings to meet and address the needs of the office.
    Validate all invoices and ensure compliance with the supply/procurement policies.

    Oversee the transfer/movement of the office to the new location, engaging the team, and working directly/closely with the service providers to ensure that operations of the Branch office are not adversely affected.
    Work closely with the contractors involved in the renovations of the current office to ensure that works are completed as specified, and ensure a proper hand over of the property.
