    Head of Innovation Studio

    The Visa Innovation & Design group in CEMEA hosts and co-creates with a wide range of guests including Banks/Financial Institutions, Merchants, Technology Providers, the Fintech and Startup community. Operating out of the Dubai Innovation Center, Moscow Studio and the soon-to-be-launched Nairobi Innovation Studio, the team acts as the “front of shop” for Visa innovation engagements. The Nairobi Studio serves the needs of the large, fast-paced and strategically important Sub Saharan Africa market. It advocates Visa’s innovation vision and priorities, understand clients and partners’ needs and supports them in their innovation journey. The ideal candidate brings a deep passion for technology and payments, a futurist view, the ability to understand and capture trends in their respective industries and a broad understanding of (or aptitude for) Visa’s capabilities and assets. They bring excellent presentation and facilitation skills, and the ability to run high-impact client sessions.  They also bring a strong operational background and interest, including project management, pipeline management, management reporting, event management and contracts. Experience in having run innovation centers, agile sprints and innovation consulting teams is a huge plus.
    The individual will also work with internal stakeholders to conceptualize and support the go-to-market of new solutions for the Sub Saharan African market. The individual will lead the Nairobi Studio team and serve a leadership role in engagements with senior/executive level clients, across the various engagements types (from 30 minute demonstrations to multi-week co-creations). The individual will also be business’s key point of contact for requesting the Nairobi Studio’s services, and will own the team and Studio’s project pipeline. This will also involve reporting the team and Studio’s updates and projects to global and regional teams. He/she will work with minimal guidance in a fast paced, ambiguous work environment, and will have the ability to independently translate high level guidance into detailed deliverables. He/she will demonstrate good interpersonal skills and executive presence.
    Job description
    Reporting directly to the CEMEA Head of Innovation and SSA Head of Products, this individual is a key member of the regional Innovation team serving 92 countries. A key ‘face of the Studio’ for C-suite clients, partners and internal stakeholders, the individual also helps define and execute the operations of the Studio. This individual also reports to the SSA Head of Products and is a key partner in local solution development.
    Innovation Pipeline and revenue management

    Deliver against value-in-kind revenue targets, established in partnership with the Sub Saharan Africa leadership and CEMEA Innovation Leader
    Run the studio pipeline, engagement intake, and value-in-kind contract management: Serve as the key point of contact for the business to request Innovation & Design team projects and all Innovation Studio events
    ­Establish a clear point of contact and intake process for anyone requesting Innovation & Design services
    ­Work closely with the regional Innovation & Design lead to establish a pipeline strategy & operating model
    ­Educate internal stakeholders on the Studio offerings and intake process

    Position Summary
    This Director Data Engineer role in the CEMEA (Central Europe, Middle East and Africa) region is primarily responsible for establishing frameworks for Machine Learning productionization (MLOps) and streaming model deployment.  We are looking for an expert with deep expertise who can build end-to-end model deployment pipelines using the latest tools, platforms, and technologies.  This is a Pan-regional position supporting all of CEMEA that plays a critical role in enabling the Data Science team to deliver solutions for our Visa clients.  The role also provides a bridge between our local end-users and our Visa Technology colleagues in San Francisco, influencing the development of standardized processes whilst provisioning local tools and technologies as required.  The Data Engineer takes responsibility for building and running data pipelines, launching models in production, and maintaining continuously-running models under SLA’s as defined by client end-users.

    The Power Africa Off-Grid Project (PAOP) is a four-year USAID-funded project to promote off-grid electrification in 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The project is headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa. PAOP provides technical assistance to key sector stakeholders, including private sector off-grid companies, investors, and government agencies.
    The Senior Technical Advisor will work with the Kenya Lead Advisor and other Regional Advisors to provide country wide business-focused technical assistance to off-grid companies and stakeholders. The Senior Technical Advisor will help off-grid companies to develop and implement business models to increase the number of new electrification connections and generation from off-grid energy systems, in particular solar home systems (SHS) and mini-grids (MG).

    Responsibilities

    Support SHS and MG companies through targeted technical assistance focused on product and business model development, retail and marketing strategies, and new business-line entry strategies including providing advice in registration, tax exemption path flows and in navigating the regulatory space.
    Provide strategies that support SHS companies to expand beyond current operation areas including development of a scalable agent recruitment, initial sales agent training program, reverse logistics, among others.
    Support SHS and MG companies on partnership development and market expansion by providing market information, identifying potential partners along with meeting the local representatives.
    In collaboration with the Finance Advisors, support SHS and MG companies in fundraising from different sources: equity, debt (corporate & asset finance) and grants. This shall be provided through ongoing support which includes sharing funding opportunities, reviewing proposal applications to investors, banks, donor programs among others.
    Provide support and advice to relevant sector associations: The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA), the Kenya Renewable Energy Association (KEREA), and other relevant stakeholders on regulatory, and other tax issues and help formulate coherent private-sector positions on these issues.
    Support companies in identifying both debt and results-based financing opportunities and inform their market entry strategies to the underserved counties, including providing the relevant linkages to other USAID programs like feed the future, and Powering Agriculture.
    Contribute to the development of market intelligence reports and other data required under the project.
    Lead & support the preparation and submission of relevant project reports and also respond to demand-driven project requests.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Take overall responsibility in the management of the administrative and programmatic services of the program.
    Work hand in hand with Rehabilitation teams at the MoH Health facilities, Stakeholders, Organizations of persons with disabilities in providing integrated Rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities. This includes initiating of MOU with County Governments and partners for service delivery.
    Documentation of client’s progress and monthly/weekly reports.
    Ensure patient demands are met and deadlines are kept to ensure continued provision of services.
    Work in cooperation with the Accounts Department and the Branch Administration to design, forecast, and update annual and periodic program budgets
    In liaison with the branch management, plans, organize, and direct the provision of mobile clinic health services and programs to designated areas.
    Initiate and/or reinforce the network system with existing structures to promote integrated community development and access to health services.
    Establish and maintain contacts with internal and external stakeholders, Government line ministries to provide information, garner acceptance and support of the project, and ensure that the project meets client needs
    Building effective sustainable referral systems with local Health facilities, and community organizations.
    Facilitate training and community empowerment activities.
    Provide accurate and timely report to the management for planning.
    Coordinate project activities and strategical planning with government line ministries for sustainability and Ownership.
    coordinate the development of training materials and methodology relevant to the execution of the project
    In liaison with branch management, ensure proper utilization of resources, including prompt accountability of funds and reporting by the rehabilitation teams and volunteers involved in the program.
    Use participatory methodology when working with all project stakeholders
    Build and maintain relationships with other departments within the branch, various government ministries, Institutions and with community, DPOs and groups to maximize the effectiveness of the community initiated strategy.
    Facilitate resource mobilization for services at the Counties, other stakeholders and partners for service delivery and scale up of project activities.

    Qualifications

    Possess Diploma in Orthopedic, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy from Kenya Medical Training College or any other relevant institution
    At least 3 years relevant working experience in coordinating and providing technical support to Orthopaedic services
    Demonstrated knowledge and commitment on disability issues and readiness to work with persons with disabilities across board.
    Have the ability to work for long and odd hours under minimum supervision to meet deadlines.
    Computer literate and ability to work independently
    Experience with donor funded projects and reporting
    Be registered with a professional body
    Available to begin immediately
    Fluent in spoken & written English

    Chief of Party, Kenya Tusome Early Grade Learning Activity Education Program Assistant -Kisumu Finance Assistant

    RTI’s International Education Division is currently accepting applications for Chief of Party, for the USAID-funded Tusome Early Grade Literacy Activity (Tusome) in Kenya. Working at a national scale, the Tusome Activity improves early grade literacy outcomes in both English and Kiswahili, through national level teacher trainings, ongoing support to teachers as well as the production and distribution of materials for pupils and teachers. The current implementation focus provides works closely with Kenya’s Ministry of Education (MOE) in supporting teachers and learners in grades 1-3 during the COVID pandemic and the planned reopening of schools. It is anticipated that even if schools remain closed, some support would remain remote, including teacher training.  A key area of focus for the remainder of the project is to fully transition ownership of activities to the MOE in order to ensure sustainability.
    The COP is responsible for leading the management, implementation and overall quality assurance of the project.  In this role, s/he will be RTI’s primary point of contact with RTI, USAID and Kenyan government counterpart agencies.  This position is based in Nairobi.
    Essential Job Functions:
    The COP’s roles and responsibilities will include:  

    Oversee technical, administrative and financial operations (e.g., operations, compliance, reporting, and implementation) in coordination with the RTI Home Office;
    Provide technical leadership and quality assurance in the design, delivery and evaluation of technical assistance, implementation and research; all with a focus on early grade reading instruction and teacher training; 
    Collaborate with MOE counterparts and other education stakeholders to guide implementation and ensure the timely and quality completion of technical, financial and contractual deliverables;
    Develop and implement annual program work and performance milestone plans and negotiates an agreement of those plans with the client; and
    Maintain and effectively manage relationships with Kenyan and international RTI partners implementing the project.

    Qualifications and Competencies: 

    A Master’s degree or higher in education or a related field.
    Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in development, including education reform, teacher training, literacy, gender issues, grants management, research and community mobilization;
    A proven track record in managing education projects in developing countries, with large staff and implementing a national level program;
    Prior experience working in Eastern Africa or Southern Africa preferred;
    Extensive experience with British established education systems;
    Experience and proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders, and ability to support journey to self reliance efforts with ministry counterparts;
    Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff into a cohesive team;
    Experience with USAID project management policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
    Absolute fluency in English and superlative communication and writing skills.
