    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Location Programme Director, the Education and Youth Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing Educational and Youth programmes for individual children within the SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya, other Alternative care placements and implementing Youth Programmes, in consultation and support of the Alternative Care, Family Strengthening Coordinator and school heads where applicable. Through his/her efforts, the Children/Youth will be guided to reach their full potential through developing academic and practical skills required to earn a living and lead a well-balanced life. He/She will be responsible for mentorship and career guidance programmes by supporting programmes that are guided by the existing policies and guidelines. In achieving this, the Education and youth coordinator will be required to carry him/herself as role model and guide in providing support and a positive example to the Youth and children.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Supports the SOS Parent/care-givers to create a stimulating learning environment for the youth.

    Work with SOS Parents and Community Caregivers enrolled in the programme to play a significant role in their children’s education, stimulating their interest in learning within the home and guide them to take a particular interest in the progress of the children at school.
    Provides advice, guidance and support to SOS Parent and community Caregivers on
    educational issues and support children to appreciate learning as a worthwhile, interesting and enjoyable activity.
    Encourages and assists SOS Parent and community Care-givers to improve their own educational skills so that they are able to provide greater educational support to their children.
    This includes the development and implementation of programmes to raise the educational level of SOS Parent/ Care-givers.
    Organizes educational activities, which the children will find interesting and enjoyable

    Guide the Personal Development of the Youth

    Carry oneself in a manner that encourages youth’s positive behaviour
    Build relationships with the youth that are based on mutual respect for each other.
    Organize regular informal and formal forums which allow the youth to be free to discuss issues affecting them.

    Provides Educational and Career Guidance

    Develops a clear understanding of each child’s/youth skills, abilities, potential, future prospects, and aspirations.
    Keeps children, youth and caregivers informed of available vocational training and educational opportunities, including those offered by SOS locally and in other countries.
    Works in close Co-operation with the social workers, where applicable to support in nurturing children and youth talents
    Provide youth and children with ongoing career counselling and job orientation, on need and level basis.
    Sensitize youth on TVET and link them with available vocational training and educational opportunities.
    Support the young persons to identify tertiary institutions that will best bring out the youths’ potential in academic and non – academic programmes
    Provide the youth with information that will help them to make informed choices in terms of, sex and sexuality, relationships, HIV/AIDS, Drugs and substance abuse etc.
    Conduct business management courses for aspiring youth so that they are able to make informed proposals for their business ventures, including detailed research or feasibility study.
    Put in place business monitoring tool with proper documentation.
    Encourage the youth to apply for youth business grants from the Government ministries or from other donor opportunities
    Support the youths to identify and take up internship; attachment; Employability and entrepreneurship opportunities
    Work with like-minded partners to support youth to be placed in internships and jobs for selfreliance

    Addresses the Educational Needs of children and youth

    Maintain contact with teachers and other school staff to have to support on follow-ups on cases that require administrative support.
    Acts as liaison advisor of caregivers of Alternative care and Family Strengthen Programme children/youth on school matters.
    Coordinate Parent school visits and consolidate feedback to guide the required support.
    Arranges additional support to meet the needs of individual children and youth. This may include individual tutoring, after-school or holiday remedial classes for children in Alternative care programmes.
    Develops and co-ordinates a study programme for children and youth (e.g. guided home-work sessions) highlighting study methods and providing support in the children’s weaker areas, in order to improve academic performance.
    Identifies alternative educational/vocational skills training opportunities for children/Youth who are may not have the ability to complete a full transitioning cycle.

    Promote Community Service and integration

    Identify and promote community service opportunities among the youth. Administer the placement of youth in short or long-term programmes.
    Encourage youth to take advantage of opportunities which integrate them with the surrounding community, and which expose them to life outside SOS CVs, such as clubs etc.
    Involve the youth provide community -service in their immediate community
    Work out a way to enable the youth use some of the allowances that they get in community service.
    Form networks and relationships with Community Based Organizations and Charitable
    Organizations, which would help SOS CV KE identify the areas in which the youth’s services would be best situated.
    Work in close consultation with Village staff to involve the children in the village in community service that is undertaken by the youth.
    Encourage the youth to be proactive in the socio-political and socio-economic affairs that are affecting the country.
    Train and facilitate youth enrol to groups, clubs, societies and organizations that help the youth develop their various talents.

    Co-ordinate Youth Activity Programmes.

    Prepare budget to support the planned holiday activities.
    Build relationships with the youth that are based on mutual respect for each other.
    Form Youth various committees like disciplinary, entertainment, budget committee etc.
    Involve youth to participate in annual plans and budgets in every cycle for issues which affects them to be captured

    Create & Maintain Links with the SOS Children’s Village

    Ensure youth within the Village and those under supported independent living maintain close contact with their SOS Parents and families of origin. This includes participating in special family events and family matters
    Involve the SOS Parents in the youth activities. Consult SOS Parents on major decisions affecting the youth’s future. E.g. a transfer to a different school.
    Develop a close interaction between youth in the facility, those under supported Independent living and those already living with their relatives to interact with the children in the villages so as to create awareness and a sense of responsibility to enable them take an active role in their family houses.
    Assist the Alternative Care and FSP Coordinators and SOS Parent transitioning the teenagers to youths and adjust to their new life and stage in life.
    Create a database of all the youth in the youth facilities, giving details of where they stay, and the activities they are involved in.

    Supports the fulfilment of the requirements of the International Sponsorship Office

    Ensure that all international child sponsors are provided with a Christmas card each year, education progress reports and mid-year progress report in respect to the relevant child and an updated photograph of the child at least every year.
    Ensure that the content and language used in external correspondence is appropriate.
    Support the National Office to ensure that the International Sponsorship Office is properly informed of all departures from the village.
    Keep up-to-date with all sponsorship policies and procedures. Thoroughly understands and complies with the requirement of the International Sponsorship Policy Support.
    Create, update and ensure that youth files have all requisite documents and are well kept in line with sponsorship requirements.
    Ensure that the youth termly progress reports are submitted as per the stipulated quality and timelines.
    Ensure the PDB2 data on children and youth is well updated in database.

    Formal qualifications & Experience Requirements

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related discipline
    A Degree in Social work, Community Development or equivalent is an added advantage
    Experience of working on a similar role will be an added advantage
    Proficiency in basic computer packages like MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint
    At least five (5) years relevant experience in coordinating education programs/ activities in a child -focused organizations will be an added advantage.
    Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
    Strong report writing skills
    High standards of conduct and ethics as well as integrity, appropriate judgment, independence and confidentiality.

    Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

    Fundraising and Donor Liaison

    Proactively identify institutional partnership opportunities at the national/local level (from bilateral, multilateral, international organization and embassies and foundations) that match organizational priorities and donor requirements.
    Develop a comprehensive database of potential donors and update the same regularly to ensure clear potential funding opportunities for SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya based on thorough research and intelligence gathering
    Writing expression of interests, concept notes and proposals and related applications for both grants and contracts under the strategic guidance of the HFDC. This includes: background research, stakeholder analysis, data collection & analysis, consultation processes, development of narrative proposal, coordination of grant proposal budget development and production of all associated documents to a high standard in accordance with donor requirements
    Develop and maintain good relationships with donors by ensuring regular communication, knowledge exchange and effective reporting.
    Working with the HFDC, be the link between SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya and donors especially in management of institutional funding contracts. Ensure regular communication with the SOS Children’s Villages international and regional offices

    Donor Contract Management

    Prepare and submit IPD monthly updates and quarterly reports to the Head of Fund Development and Communications (HFDC)
    Coordinate, monitor and assess the quality of donor reporting making sure that donor requirements are met during the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation and phase/close out
    Responsible for Donor Contract Management (DCM) of institutional (restricted) grants, including contract preparation, development of consortium agreements, teaming agreements, monitoring of compliance with donor requirements, submission of reports.
    Create and maintain grant records in the ProDIGI Grant management system for all institutional donor contracts.
    Undertake routine donor contract administration for country programmes and ensure all grant files; (electronic, system and paper) are complete and kept up to date.
    Establish a close cross-functional working relationship with the Finance, Communication and Program and other departments and provide advice to ensure synergy in donor budgeting, contract management and reporting.

    Strategy, Capacity Building

    Develop and implement an institutional fundraising and partnership strategy in line with the needs of SOS Children’s Villages Kenya and ensure this is infused within the organizational strategic plan, global IPD Strategy 3.0 and national plans
    Ensuring Senior Management are appraised of all strategic opportunities, challenges and risks in relation to potential funding opportunities, including key relations, grants and contracts.
    Analyzing the funding environment vis á vis SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya’s strategy, plans and priorities, mapping key donors and identifying trends in funding and implications for SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya; Review and implement the recommendations of the donor market survey
    Train and support relevant staff in Project Cycle Management and Logical Framework Approach among other models and approaches for project design and management
    Build fundraising capacity within the programme team, by training staff on proposal development, funding trends and policies, donor relations, reporting, contract management, etc.
    Document learning on the implementation of donor-funded grants and contracts, in order to improve understanding of donor requirements and to improve SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya’s overall grant performance and compliance

    Partnership Development and Networking

    Establish and maintain regular contact with donors by organizing donor roundtables, face-to-face meetings, attending donor forums etc.
    Supporting the HFDC, ND and programme team to develop new and existing relationships with key donors and potential consortia partners
    Negotiate collaboration with partner institutions and government departments in support of SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya subject to approval from HFDC.
    Coordinating and facilitating consortia formation and strategic partnerships with other like-minded organizations/or local implementing partners for joint proposal development processes
    Coordinating capacity assessments and due diligence checks of potential local partners to be included in proposals
    Developing MOUs, pre-teaming agreements or other required documentation in relation to consortium formation and partnership development.
    Represent SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya in sector level meetings (development and humanitarian/emergency) and other networking forums and use this to aggressively develop funding partnerships
    Participate in regional IPD networking and training forums and contribute to development of new IPD strategies to improve practice
    Developing material to help promote SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya amongst potential donors, partners and key Government representatives, including briefings, capacity statements and presentations
    Work closely with the General Secretariat in ESAF regional office and International Office in order to ensure coordinated contact with donors.

    Formal qualifications & Experience Requirements

    Minimum Bachelor and preferably Master Degree, in the Social Sciences (social work, psychology, social-pedagogy, community development or economics) and, additionally, a Project Management qualification.
    Minimum 7 years working experience in the field of Project Management for Institutional Donor funded projects
    He/she should have 7 years’ extensive experience in planning, securing and managing funds from institutional donors as well as a thorough understanding of development programming.
    Potential candidates should demonstrate evidence of medium/large proposals they have developed and won 2M USD)
    A thorough understanding of program design and development especially in the sectors of Education, Health, Livelihoods, Gender and GBV, Child Protection, Advocacy and Emergency Preparedness and Response.
    Experience in social science research; the candidate should have extensive experience conducting assessments, evaluations etc.
    A thorough understanding of Donor Contract Management, Project Cycle Management, and training approaches is required.
    Experience of capacity building non-funding staff in all aspects of funding and contract compliance.

    Competencies- Knowledge, skills and abilities

    Demonstrable experience in planning, resourcing, implementing, controlling, monitoring & evaluation of and reporting on projects, preferably in the social sciences arena, including donor-funded programs.
    Ability to turn a vision into actionable goals and deliverables, including coordinating the activities of several program locations (and their networks of service providers) around these common goals.
    Ability to challenge conventional thinking, and to influence others to develop new, innovative solutions to promote quality childcare and development, including using broad cross-sector coordination to create large-scale social change.
    Understanding of National legislation policies, strategies and funding mechanisms of SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya in relation to child care development.
    Experience in partnership building, including assessing the suitability of partners, and negotiating and formalizing Memorandums of Understanding.
    Ability to represent the organization at the highest level, including with national bodies and agencies, NGO networks and international donors.
    Ability to link budgets for implementing planned activities and programs, as well as understanding of financial reports for tracking budget execution.
    Proven experience in leading a team.

    Sponsorship Officer

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    Reporting to the Sponsorship Coordinator, the Sponsorship Officer ensures effective and quality management process for the Sponsorship work. He/She will keep in mind the overall purpose of sponsorship is maintaining existing sponsors as well preparing inspiring reports for the new sponsors. She/he will act in the best interest of the child according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) guidelines.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    DIGITAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT – PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY;

     Create digital content in form of photos and videos for upload in the DS app and IG ADAM as required by the International Sponsorship Office.
     Support in the process of developing the SPO LAB Digital Content at the facility level.
     Review pictures of individual children and make sure they are up to the standards before printing and dispatch to sponsors.
     Makes sure that photographs of all sponsored children are duplicated & labelled according to the number of child sponsors and send to the right sponsors

    COMMUNICATION – Production of Quality Sponsorship Communications in line with Sponsorship guidelines and commitments;

     Ensure all communication is participatory and reflects the child’s voice.
     Ensure the children and young persons Mid and End year reports prepared are a real reflection of their holistic development, high quality and engaging to the recipients both internal and external.
     Download and print all End of year reports from DS app for all sponsors. Prepare and edit Christmas mail (photos, drawing and card) to be dispatched to the sponsor together with the End of year report.
     Ensure accuracy and timely dispatch of information to both the sponsors and the facilities.
     Ensure that all the new children admitted to the villages are properly and timely registered into the DS app.
     Attend to all correspondence from the International Office, the sponsors, and the children promptly as stipulated.
     Prepare child profiles as per international office requests
     Screen parcels and letters from sponsors and dispatch them to respective villages on a quarterly basis.
     Review departure notices prepared by program sponsorship officers, verify the information included on the document is valid and file it accordingly.

    SPONSORSHIP SOFTWARE and POLICY GUIDELINES;

     Support the National Sponsorship Coordinator- the Sponsorship officer will be required to access the IG ADAM and the DS app software for information and weekly updates on Sponsorship.
     Know, understand and comply with the requirements of the International Sponsorship Guidelines on how to use and operate the Sponsorship Software.
     To work with the Sponsorship Services International Policy Support Document and other related Guidelines in order to enhance quality in Sponsorship work.
     Acknowldge the parcels and letters through DS app
     Upload departure, registration, photos, and progress sponsorship letters on DS app

    DATA MONITORING AND DOCUMENTATION;

     Maintain an organized documentation system that has been laid out for the Sponsorship Department as well as generate feedback to Sponsorship Coordinator.
     Ensure that all children’s and young person’s files have the required legal documentations both internally and externally.
     Continuously update the DS app.

    RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT – establish healthy relationships with the stakeholders in

    order to meet the stipulated goals;
     Systematically build and nurture relationships with International sponsors to ensure long-term support.
     Ensure teamwork is adhered to within the department and the entire co-workers.
     Support the children and young persons to understand their responsibility in contributing towards the Sponsorship program while carrying out the sponsorship monitoring and evaluation.
     Drafts and writes memos, takes minutes of sponsorship meetings and gives replies to general queries as instructed.
     Sorts out information for the purpose of children progress sponsorship letters from other sources at the national office.

    CAPACITY BUILDING – Learning & Knowledge Sharing;

     Support in the implementation of the outlined Guidelines in the Sponsorship Policy Documents.
     Conduct trainings during the Sponsorship Facility visits for the SOS mothers and other Coworkers
     Support to facilitate the annual Sponsorship Workshop to Sponsorship Co-workers.

    QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business related/ Journalism and Communication studies
    Must have good knowledge of Computer applications, Photography, Videography and Editing.
    A minimum of 5 years of experience in the sponsorship field.
    Previous experience in handling sponsorship work in child -focused organizations is required
    Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Head of Fund Development & Communications, the Institutional Partnership Development Manager supports and leads SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya in the development of partnerships with institutional donors, in order to significantly increase and diversify the financial resources available for National Programs. H/She plays a crucial role in enhancing the capacity of SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya’s team in grant acquisition, effective grant management, and strategic donor engagement, positioning and partnerships with major institutional donors. H/She collaborates with the Head of Fund Development & Communications, the National Director and the Program Team to secure institutional funding for SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya. H/She develops and implements institutional partnership strategies, writes concept papers, proposals and other grant application documents and is a key contributor to the growth of the funding portfolio.     Minimum Qualification and experience

    Minimum Bachelor and preferably Master Degree, in the Social Sciences (social work, psychology, social-pedagogy, community development or economics) and, additionally, a Project Management qualification.
    Minimum 7 years working experience in the field of Project Management for Institutional Donor funded projects
    He/she should have 7 years’ extensive experience in planning, securing and managing funds from institutional donors as well as a thorough understanding of development programming.
    A thorough understanding of program design and development especially in the sectors of Education,
    Health, Livelihoods, Gender and GBV, Child Protection, Advocacy and Emergency Preparedness and Response.
    Experience in social science research; the candidate should have extensive experience conducting assessments, evaluations etc.
    A thorough understanding of Donor Contract Management, Project Cycle Management, and training approaches is required.

    Proven experience in leading a team.
    Strong MS office skills, preferably with proficiency in using project management software.
    Strong and highly effective communication skills in English including excellent report writing skills.
    Willingness to travel within different the regions, as well as travel within the Sub-Saharan Africa region for experience-sharing and workshops.

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the National Director, the Head of the Fund Development & Communications (FDC) provides leadership and spearheads fundraising initiatives in the organization. S/he is responsible for the subsidy related financial self-sufficiency targets of the organization. S/he is expected to achieve growth in local income generated from corporates, individuals, trusts and philanthropic foundations. S/he is to develop/update a strategic vision for the Fund Development and Communications function and roll out a strategy for diversification of income to ensure a growing and diversified income to increase the financial self-sufficiency of the organization. S/he will take the lead in making contact with potential corporate supporters, major donors, individual givers and funders. S/he will spot opportunities to engage, making full use of all our networks and experience as well as carry out rigorous monitoring and evaluation of activities to measure financial return on investment and the impact in relation to our strategic aims. In addition to defining, implementing and fulfilling the medium-term FDC strategy reflected in the National Strategic Plan of the organization.

    Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

    In collaboration with the leadership and staff of the organization, effectively manage the FDC department to increase funding and diversify sponsorship opportunities by providing strategic direction and management, which include the following areas:

    Key responsibilities:

    Strategy Development, Implementation and Evaluation

    Ensure customization of the Fund Development, Communication and other related SOS KDI policies, standards and guidelines while ensuring they are relevant to the local situation to contribute to a sustainable funding portfolio for the organization
    Ensure compliance to established policies, guidelines/procedures and processes across the organization.
    Conduct research and analyse trends to conceptualise and formulate innovative ideas and identify new opportunities for the Fund Development Function.

    Income Growth and Diversification

    Grow existing local annual fundraising net income by a minimum of 5% annually. This will be by among others carrying out fundraising campaigns, donor servicing, donations in-kind, new pursuits to individual and corporate donors
    Recruit new donors both individual and corporate donors to raise additional local annual net income. This will be among others engaging corporates to give for specific causes/campaigns either in cash or donations in-kind and recruiting individuals for either sporadic and committed donations via direct mailing, online marketing, face to face, digital, telephonic, bequests
    Develop partnerships with grant making trusts/Foundations representatives and oversee the preparation of proposals and funding applications to meet funders’ needs
    Service existing donors and retain at least 60% of existing cooperate and individual donors annually

    Financial Management

    Provide input into the annual budget through feasibility calculations.
    Manage actual versus forecasted budgets monthly.
    Analyse variances between income and expenses, and between targets and actuals monthly.
    Manage Fundraising targets and activities monthly.
    Compile and submit monthly FDC reports to the National Director and Quarterly to the Board Committee of FDC.

    People Management and Development

    Provide strong leadership and direction to FDC team and communicate vision and values t team.
    Set medium to long term goals and objectives for subordinates and actively monitor progress of the achievement of objectives.
    Develop and maintain a high-performance team, and regularly evaluate performance of subordinates to ensure functional objectives are met or exceeded according to established policies and objectives.
    Foster national capacity building in all areas of Fundraising.

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Resources mobilization, Marketing, Sales, Business Admin, International Business Development.
    Master’s Degree would be an added advantage.

    5 years managerial experience with core knowledge of various fundraising streams

    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Location Programme Director, the Education and Youth Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing Educational and Youth programmes for individual children within the SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya, other Alternative care placements and implementing Youth Programmes, in consultation and support of the Alternative Care, Family Strengthening Coordinator and school heads where applicable. Through his/her efforts, the Children/Youth will be guided to reach their full potential through developing academic and practical skills required to earn a living and lead a well-balanced life. He/She will be responsible for mentorship and career guidance programmes by supporting programmes that are guided by the existing policies and guidelines. In achieving this, the Education and youth coordinator will be required to carry him/herself as role model and guide in providing support and a positive example to the Youth and children.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Supports the SOS Parent/care-givers to create a stimulating learning environment for the youth.

    Work with SOS Parents and Community Caregivers enrolled in the programme to play a significant role in their children’s education, stimulating their interest in learning within the home and guide them to take a particular interest in the progress of the children at school.
    Provides advice, guidance and support to SOS Parent and community Caregivers on
    educational issues and support children to appreciate learning as a worthwhile, interesting and enjoyable activity.
    Encourages and assists SOS Parent and community Care-givers to improve their own educational skills so that they are able to provide greater educational support to their children.
    This includes the development and implementation of programmes to raise the educational level of SOS Parent/ Care-givers.
    Organizes educational activities, which the children will find interesting and enjoyable

    Guide the Personal Development of the Youth

    Carry oneself in a manner that encourages youth’s positive behaviour
    Build relationships with the youth that are based on mutual respect for each other.
    Organize regular informal and formal forums which allow the youth to be free to discuss issues affecting them.

    Provides Educational and Career Guidance

    Develops a clear understanding of each child’s/youth skills, abilities, potential, future prospects, and aspirations.
    Keeps children, youth and caregivers informed of available vocational training and educational opportunities, including those offered by SOS locally and in other countries.
    Works in close Co-operation with the social workers, where applicable to support in nurturing children and youth talents
    Provide youth and children with ongoing career counselling and job orientation, on need and level basis.
    Sensitize youth on TVET and link them with available vocational training and educational opportunities.
    Support the young persons to identify tertiary institutions that will best bring out the youths’ potential in academic and non – academic programmes
    Provide the youth with information that will help them to make informed choices in terms of, sex and sexuality, relationships, HIV/AIDS, Drugs and substance abuse etc.
    Conduct business management courses for aspiring youth so that they are able to make informed proposals for their business ventures, including detailed research or feasibility study.
    Put in place business monitoring tool with proper documentation.
    Encourage the youth to apply for youth business grants from the Government ministries or from other donor opportunities
    Support the youths to identify and take up internship; attachment; Employability and entrepreneurship opportunities
    Work with like-minded partners to support youth to be placed in internships and jobs for selfreliance

    Addresses the Educational Needs of children and youth

    Maintain contact with teachers and other school staff to have to support on follow-ups on cases that require administrative support.
    Acts as liaison advisor of caregivers of Alternative care and Family Strengthen Programme children/youth on school matters.
    Coordinate Parent school visits and consolidate feedback to guide the required support.
    Arranges additional support to meet the needs of individual children and youth. This may include individual tutoring, after-school or holiday remedial classes for children in Alternative care programmes.
    Develops and co-ordinates a study programme for children and youth (e.g. guided home-work sessions) highlighting study methods and providing support in the children’s weaker areas, in order to improve academic performance.
    Identifies alternative educational/vocational skills training opportunities for children/Youth who are may not have the ability to complete a full transitioning cycle.

    Promote Community Service and integration

    Identify and promote community service opportunities among the youth. Administer the placement of youth in short or long-term programmes.
    Encourage youth to take advantage of opportunities which integrate them with the surrounding community, and which expose them to life outside SOS CVs, such as clubs etc.
    Involve the youth provide community -service in their immediate community
    Work out a way to enable the youth use some of the allowances that they get in community service.
    Form networks and relationships with Community Based Organizations and Charitable
    Organizations, which would help SOS CV KE identify the areas in which the youth’s services would be best situated.
    Work in close consultation with Village staff to involve the children in the village in community service that is undertaken by the youth.
    Encourage the youth to be proactive in the socio-political and socio-economic affairs that are affecting the country.
    Train and facilitate youth enrol to groups, clubs, societies and organizations that help the youth develop their various talents.

    Co-ordinate Youth Activity Programmes.

    Prepare budget to support the planned holiday activities.
    Build relationships with the youth that are based on mutual respect for each other.
    Form Youth various committees like disciplinary, entertainment, budget committee etc.
    Involve youth to participate in annual plans and budgets in every cycle for issues which affects them to be captured

    Create & Maintain Links with the SOS Children’s Village

    Ensure youth within the Village and those under supported independent living maintain close contact with their SOS Parents and families of origin. This includes participating in special family events and family matters
    Involve the SOS Parents in the youth activities. Consult SOS Parents on major decisions affecting the youth’s future. E.g. a transfer to a different school.
    Develop a close interaction between youth in the facility, those under supported Independent living and those already living with their relatives to interact with the children in the villages so as to create awareness and a sense of responsibility to enable them take an active role in their family houses.
    Assist the Alternative Care and FSP Coordinators and SOS Parent transitioning the teenagers to youths and adjust to their new life and stage in life.
    Create a database of all the youth in the youth facilities, giving details of where they stay, and the activities they are involved in.

    Supports the fulfilment of the requirements of the International Sponsorship Office

    Ensure that all international child sponsors are provided with a Christmas card each year, education progress reports and mid-year progress report in respect to the relevant child and an updated photograph of the child at least every year.
    Ensure that the content and language used in external correspondence is appropriate.
    Support the National Office to ensure that the International Sponsorship Office is properly informed of all departures from the village.
    Keep up-to-date with all sponsorship policies and procedures. Thoroughly understands and complies with the requirement of the International Sponsorship Policy Support.
    Create, update and ensure that youth files have all requisite documents and are well kept in line with sponsorship requirements.
    Ensure that the youth termly progress reports are submitted as per the stipulated quality and timelines.
    Ensure the PDB2 data on children and youth is well updated in database.

    Formal qualifications & Experience Requirements

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related discipline
    A Degree in Social work, Community Development or equivalent is an added advantage
    Experience of working on a similar role will be an added advantage
    Proficiency in basic computer packages like MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint

    Job Summary:

     Reporting to the Family Strengthening Coordinator, The Social Worker will facilitate program development, provide overall coordination and strategic direction, forge networks with other stakeholders and monitor, evaluate and report on other sub- projects within the family support program. H/she will also be responsible for planning and implementing activities within the family support program including the capacity building projects.
    In addition, he/she will coordinate the family support program activities and ensure that they conform to the goals and objectives of the family strengthening programs. The position will in particular support the Family support Team Leader in this regard.

    Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
    Management of the Family Support program

    Assist in the development of strategies relating to the program
    Follow ups and support the community health volunteers in project implementation
    Hold monthly meetings with CHVs to review progress of activities
    Implement all activities within the family support program
    Propose measures for program strengthening especially of the support groups
    Prepare detailed annual plans, budgets, reports and planning schedules.
    Holds regular reviews and assessments with all beneficiaries /Target Groups, Support
    Groups, Community Health Workers and contact persons and identify areas for improvement.
    Maintain a healthy relationship at all times between the staff, families and contact persons
    Develop case plans with all care givers enrolled in the programme
    Update of the viral loads for care givers and children who are on care who are enrolled in the project
    Develop MOU with all health facilities in the project area
    Review the family case plans after every six months

    Responsible for all Target Group assessments and selection of beneficiaries into the program

    Carry out social assessments of the families and individuals referred from the health facilities.
    Conduct home visits to families assessed to verify further information given and also establish their economic status.
    Using the selection criteria and with the help of the other social workers, select beneficiaries to be supported by the program.
    Always maintain an up to date record of beneficiaries in terms of number of families, children, adults, youth and sex.
    Ensure that all records are well kept; maintain an excellent filing system in form of hard copies as well as in the computers.
    Update the fact sheet and other records on quarterly basis.

    Facilitate Open communications within the Family Support Team and other departments

    Attend regular department meetings.
    Ensure that up-to-date records for all reports, minutes of meetings, correspondence etc are properly documented and safely kept.
    Facilitate effective communication within the case workers (CHV) in the project area
    Facilitate open communication and coordination between the family support program and other programs in the project area.
    Objectively resolve problems and make timely decisions affecting the team and the operations of their work.
    Facilitate good working relationship with health facilities in the project area

    Facilitate the educational development of children in the target group

    With the assistance of the community representatives develop selection criteria to identify children to be supported for bursary and assist them in the selection.
    Monitor the performance and progress of all the children supported in the program every term and develop progress charts.
    Prepare holiday programme ensuring that sufficient educational and recreational activities are offered to the children.
    Ensure that all the children are ready for school whenever the new term begins by purchasing personal school materials for them well in advance to avoid lateness and delays.

    Facilitate and ensure the effectiveness of all the support groups, Community Health Workers and community representatives

    In collaboration with the VCT counsellors, conduct group counselling sessions for the support groups and provide emotional support.
    Organize trainings for the support groups and Community Health Workers according to need.
    Facilitate the CHWS and Support groups in their efforts to provide psychological and social support to each other.
    Monitor the progress of support groups through attending their meetings at least once every month.
    Follow up on the activities of the Community Health Workers and ensure data collection tools are timely filled and collected
    Provide incentives in form of trainings and material rewards to the Community Health Workers to motivate them

    Establish links and develop networks with NGOs, CBOs, donors GOK departments andcommunity

    Identify potential donors, government of Kenya departments and private businesses and establish networks.
    Coordinate activities with partners in areas of mutual interest.
    Maintain good relations with the local and international sponsors through ensuring prompt correspondence and providing regular updates on progress of the programmes.
    Handle and respond to high-level correspondence in consultation with the Project Coordinator and/or his appointee.

    Data Management and Protection

    At all times ensures that personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers is handled confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-Kinderdorf International data protection laws.
    Combine and rearrange data from source documents where required, enter data from source documents into prescribed computer database, files and forms
    Transcribe information into required electronic format, Scan documents into document management systems or databases and store completed documents in designated locations.
    Check completed work for accuracy; maintain logbooks or records of activities and tasks undertaken on/in the databases.
    Respond to requests for information and access relevant files while ensuring compliance with data integrity and security policies
    Ensure that data on all program participants is accurate and up to date as per the set standards/frequency of updating and review (every 3 – 6 Months)

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences / Community Development / Child Psychology or related disciplines.
    Knowledge in data collection, analysis and knowledge management
    Prior experience with project cycle management in a complex project
    At least 5 years progressive experience working with vulnerable populations (children, youth, women) and community groups.

    Requirements

    Post graduate education in psychology, clinical counselling, global mental health. Social work, public health or related fields may be considered
    At least 2years of working experience in MHPSS programs in the region
    Training and supervision experience (incl. remotely), focusing on MHPSS pyramid level 2 (community and family based MHPSS programs, such as caregiver support, group based MHPSS for children) and level 3 interventions (deep understanding and knowledge of evidence-based focused non-specialized MHPSS interventions such as counselling, PM+, TeamUp)
    In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of IASC Guidelines on MHPSS in Emergencies and international best practices on the integration of MHPSS into Education, Child Protection, Primary Health Care and community settings would be advantageous
    Demonstrable technical Knowledge in the assessment, design, and delivery of responses to MHPSS needs in humanitarian settings
    Capacity and proven track record in national staff and partner organization training and capacity-building
    Experience in evidence generation, documentation of case studies, success stories, MHPSS research protocol, and piloting MHPSS studies at community level
    Strong experience and background on monitoring and evaluation tools including Means of Verification of MHPSS programs would be advantageous

    Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
    Fulfils the Transport Needs of the location

    Carries out the driving requirements of the project as directed by the Program Administrator, who is responsible for coordinating vehicle use. This includes conveying the project staff to the various places they may need to visit in the course of their work, efficiently and safely.
    S/he also drives the organisation’s vehicles to all assigned places, delivering and picking up mail & other items as directed.
    Conducts trips using the shortest possible route. Avoids unnecessary deviations and multiple trips to minimise mileage and time wastage.
    Use of SOS Children’s Villages Kenya vehicles for personal trips is strictly prohibited.
    Records all trips in the vehicle mileage logbook.

    Ensures the Safety of the Staff

    Drives safely at all times, to protect the safety of staff, visitors & sometimes children.
    Complies to all traffic regulations and stops only where it is safe to do so.
    Follows the correct procedure in the event of an accident. Notifies the Project Manager and appropriate authorities immediately, and renders assistance where necessary.

    Maintains the Safety and Security of vehicles

    Performs complete visual safety checks of the vehicles before driving on a daily basis, completing daily pre and post trip checklists. Regularly checks lights, indicators, brakes, tyre pressure, oil, battery and radiator.
    Reports any defects to the Program Administrator and ensures that all necessary servicing is performed by reputable agencies.
    Ensures vehicles are kept in good working order. Possesses manual dexterity for using tools for general maintenance.
    Does simple general maintenance as required on the vehicle
    Report any needed repairs, and delivers the vehicle to the repair site
    Maintains the cleanliness of vehicles by regularly washing the interior and exterior.
    Reconciles fuel bills before sending to Accounts Department for payment processing
    Keeps records of maintenance work done on the vehicle.

    General

    Provides a good role model for the SOS Children’s Villages.
    Carries out all duties in an exemplary manner.
    Ensures vehicles have sufficient fuel at all times and records mileage for each trip made.

    Required Qualifications / Abilities

    Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
    At least 5 years working experience working with projects in Non – Governmental Organizations
    Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and traffic patterns is desired.
    A valid driving license free from any current endorsement (s) for classes of the vehicles the driver is required to drive.
    A Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA) or its equivalent
    qualifications.
    A Valid certificate of Good Conduct
    A First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one week from St Johns Ambulance or any
    other recognized institution.
    Occupational Trade Test III Certificate

    Key performance areas and main responsibilities

    Proactively identify and seek donor intelligence on new institutional funding opportunities that match beneficiary needs, organizational priorities and donor requirements.
    Support and coordinate the development of high quality concept notes and funding proposals for submission to institutional donors.
    Proactively engage donor agencies, regional networks and other stakeholders in fostering relations for collaborations and funding.
    Provide grant management and administration support for effective and efficient implementation of institutionally funded programs with a diverse group of donors, partners and staff.
    Identify, organize and facilitate capacity strengthening in proposal development, project design and management for MA’s through apprenticeship, webinars, trainings and knowledge transfer.
    Explore new opportunities for innovation mainly through research and close monitoring of cutting-edge approaches and dynamics in international development.
    Liaise closely with other internal functions and external stakeholders to guarantee compliance to organizational standards and to seek synergies wherever possible
    Lead and/or participate in cross-functional processes to enable SOS Children’s Villages to maximize its long-term net income and number of institutional partnerships
    Represent IPD Team in meetings/projects/workshops as appropriate
    Provide support in consortium formation processes
    Support Member associations in pre-positioning the organization funding opportunities
    Keep up-to-date with donor policy developments and trends, in the development and humanitarian sectors.
    Proactively engage donor agencies, regional networks and other stakeholders in fostering relations for collaborations and funding.
    Facilitate and coordinate institutional funding activities such as cross regional Capacity building, Knowledge sharing and partnerships between General Secretariat (GSC), Promoting and Supporting Associations (PSA) and National Associations (NAs) and external stakeholders.

    Requirements

    We are looking for a seasoned professional with minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in grant writing and acquisition, donor contract management and partnership and network building.
    Master Degree in International Development or other relevant studies OR 8 years’ experience in a similar role
    We are looking for an English speaking candidate. Proficiency in both English and French Language is a plus
    Proven results in institutional partnership development in Africa, preferably within an international NGO/donor organization. Make sure your letter of motivation mention some of the successful proposals you have developed.
    Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines
    A good team builder, innovative and creative, demonstrating high professional standards
    Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
    Experience in partnership/Consortium development and management.
    Proven track record of successfully training, developing/mentoring support staff in a decentralized environment
    Ability to represent the organization at high level forums
