    Job description
    Purpose of role:
    To provide business development leadership and coordination for identified VSO Country Offices (Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda); responsible for optimizing income generation and business development from a diverse range of donors in support of VSO’s programmes and regional operations
    Responsibilities:

    Funding strategy aligned to programme priorities:
    Lead on researching new funding opportunities, strengthening and sustaining partnerships with commercial contractors, INGOs, private sector, government institutional donors, trusts and foundations and major donors;
    Provide intensive support to regions and country offices to develop, implement and monitor ambitious funding strategies that deliver agreed restricted income targets;
    Work with regional teams/country offices to ensure funding plans reflects programme strategy and appropriate national and regional donor mapping is up to date;

    Support CO staff to identify priority partners and support on this engagement including with I/NGOs and other development actors, governments etc in support of joint programming and consortia opportunities;
    Prepare materials needed to facilitate donor engagement and bolster VSO’s reputation and credibility with potential funders and consortia partners;
    Provide leadership and support to advance VSO’s visibility and reputation with identified strategic partners globally (among donor communities, private sector and development networks) in support of joint-bid opportunities at the national and regional levels.
    Prepositioning: internally
    Conduct country level analysis to understand the funding environment / trends and help shape the direction of programming to ensure alignment
    Share analysis on funding opportunities, Pipeline Matrix, and pipeline health (proposal tracker) with regional and country teams to inform regional planning and pre-positioning;
    Ensure that an accurate and timely overview of funding priorities and pipeline health and analysis are shared;
    Bid Development
    Lead proposal development, coordinating with donor, proposal development and technical teams;
    Provide leadership to country teams on bid development processes and ensure laid out procedures are followed for each proposal submitted at country level;
    Lead negotiations with partners to ensure financial and programmatic needs are met;
    Review proposals and provide assurance to ensure quality submissions;
    Manage and write specific proposals when required.
    Marketing
    Ensure visibility of VSO in the region/selected countries by attending/or ensuring attendance of workshops, meetings and networking events that provide an opportunity to showcase its work, provide leadership in the volunteering for development space and build new partnerships;
    Liaise with marketing and country teams to ensure appropriate go-to market material is developed.
    Capacity building
    Build country office capacity to network, engage and pre-position through own efforts or in collaboration with other BD team members.

    Skills/Experience Required:

    Experience of developing funding strategies and delivering income against targets;
    Proven ability to research new funding opportunities and to make appropriate judgements about their potential to realise significant restricted income;
    Experience of establishing and cultivating strong donor relationships that have delivered substantially increased income ;
    Proven track record in writing winning donor proposals for donors including USAID, EC, UKAID, SIDA and UN Agencies – including proven ability to develop log frames, monitoring frameworks, and theories of change;
    Experience of preparing compelling, high quality documentation (concept notes, presentations, proposals, budgets, reports, log frames, theories of change etc) for different donor and partner audiences ; Familiarity with M&E tools; theories of change, monitoring frameworks, and basic evaluation techniques;
    Strong interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills used in international settings – experience of leading and facilitating workshops and training ;
    Ability to be self-directed and take initiative within organisational mandates – strong administrative and organisational skills ;

    Qualifications required;

    Educated to post-graduate degree level in international development-related discipline;

    Ability to travel globally (estimated 30-50% travel required.

    Responsibilities

    Purpose of role:
    Support VSO to seek and respond to restricted funding opportunities – developing competitive funding proposals by coordinating VSO bid teams and acting as lead writer.
    Responsibilities:
    Funding strategy & positioning is aligned to programme priorities:Contribute to a global, coordinated fundraising strategy, centered around VSO’s Core Programme Areas and Signature Programmes – when required participating in the CPA and SP development processes (either as a process coordinator or a member of the core development team)Work collaboratively with wider funding team to help identify and plan strategies to position VSO with potential partners and donors
    Bid development:

    Rapidly pull together bid materials (proposal, presentation, concept outline) that bring a project or programme idea into a concrete, fundable proposition (including bringing out the VfM arguments, responding to donor/partner key interests, & being technically compliant, to ensure sound concept in line with good development practice and feasible delivery –
    Provide bid development for single and multi-country bids, regional and global calls and where VSO is a member of a consortia (as lead or sub)
    Manage and lead diverse proposal bid teams (made up of country office staff, partners, volunteers, VSO technical experts from finance, M&E & fundraising, programme teams and external consultants as needed) to deliver highly competitive concept notes and full proposals for all funding sources (institutional donors, trusts, foundations, major donors, and the corporate sector) -emphasis on large scale funding opportunities over £1M, complex and / or consortia applications
    Design and lead on proposal development workshops to bring together and validate consortia/bid team inputs
    Ensure legally binding teaming agreements are in place with consortia partners, and facilitate internal proposal risk assessment sign offs by senior leadership
    Ensure Value for Money arguments and Theories of Change and Cost Recovery are clearly articulated in all proposals
    As part of the wider business development team, provide high quality proposal review to other proposals (where not the lead)

    Job description
    Job purpose:The purpose of the post is to provide leadership in implementing Accountability for Service Delivery Project effectively in Laikipia and Isiolo counties
    Responsibilities

    Totally responsible for effective delivery of all project deliverables and monitoring of project activities to achieve project outcomes
    Lead project evaluation activities such as Political Economic Analysis, baseline, and end line evaluation and ensure project M&E plan is in place and adhered to
    Compile comprehensive internal and external periodic reports and timely submission of the same
    Lead in project’s budget planning, tracking and ensuring timely submission of monthly projections variance analysis reports and donor financial reports
    Engage in national and county level lobbying and advocacy processes with relevant Civil Society Organisations on matters accountability for service delivery in ECD provision particularly in target counties
    Relationship building with project partners, collaborating with county level organizations, county government and networks to maximize project outcomes.
    Managing direct reports and partners according to VSO best practice, including providing continuous coaching and mentorship for their development
    Participate in financial planning, administer and monitor expenditures against budgets and assist the project assistant to maintain budget tracking records for ASD project.
    Work cooperatively as a member of ASD Project and Inclusive Education programme team and support in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project and the larger Education programme

    The role seeks to assist VSO program teams in developing and implementing a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology aimed at involving the most marginalized in communities to identify, investigate and understand issues they confront and the appropriate action to address this. The role will support integration of Social accountability, Social Inclusion & Gender and Resilience into VSO’s programs in Health, Education and Secure Livelihoods.
    Skills, qualifications and experience
    You Have a:

    Degree / diploma in social science / development studies.
    Well trained in PAR methodologies with at least 4-5 years’ working experience in facilitating PAR using various participatory methods in social development, research design, implementation, coordination, data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting
    Experience in working with government, NGOs and civil society organizations.

    Allowance and accommodation
    This a Voluntary role, All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
