    Purpose of role:
    To provide business development leadership and coordination for identified VSO Country Offices (Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda); responsible for optimizing income generation and business development from a diverse range of donors in support of VSO’s programmes and regional operations

    Bid Development
    Lead proposal development, coordinating with donor, proposal development and technical teams;
    Provide leadership to country teams on bid development processes and ensure laid out procedures are followed for each proposal submitted at country level;
    Lead negotiations with partners to ensure financial and programmatic needs are met;
    Review proposals and provide assurance to ensure quality submissions;

    Marketing
    Ensure visibility of VSO in the region/selected countries by attending/or ensuring attendance of workshops, meetings and networking events that provide an opportunity to showcase its work, provide leadership in the volunteering for development space and build new partnerships;
    Liaise with marketing and country teams to ensure appropriate go-to market material is developed.
    Capacity building
    Build country office capacity to network, engage and pre-position through own efforts or in collaboration with other BD team members.

    Support VSO to seek and respond to restricted funding opportunities – developing competitive funding proposals by coordinating VSO bid teams and acting as lead writer.
    Responsibilities:

    Job description
    Job purpose:The purpose of the post is to provide leadership in implementing Accountability for Service Delivery Project effectively in Laikipia and Isiolo counties
    Responsibilities

    Totally responsible for effective delivery of all project deliverables and monitoring of project activities to achieve project outcomes
    Lead project evaluation activities such as Political Economic Analysis, baseline, and end line evaluation and ensure project M&E plan is in place and adhered to
    Compile comprehensive internal and external periodic reports and timely submission of the same
    Lead in project’s budget planning, tracking and ensuring timely submission of monthly projections variance analysis reports and donor financial reports
    Engage in national and county level lobbying and advocacy processes with relevant Civil Society Organisations on matters accountability for service delivery in ECD provision particularly in target counties
    Relationship building with project partners, collaborating with county level organizations, county government and networks to maximize project outcomes.
    Managing direct reports and partners according to VSO best practice, including providing continuous coaching and mentorship for their development
    Participate in financial planning, administer and monitor expenditures against budgets and assist the project assistant to maintain budget tracking records for ASD project.
    Work cooperatively as a member of ASD Project and Inclusive Education programme team and support in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project and the larger Education programme

    The role seeks to assist VSO program teams in developing and implementing a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology aimed at involving the most marginalized in communities to identify, investigate and understand issues they confront and the appropriate action to address this. The role will support integration of Social accountability, Social Inclusion & Gender and Resilience into VSO’s programs in Health, Education and Secure Livelihoods.
    Skills, qualifications and experience
    You Have a:

    Degree / diploma in social science / development studies.
    Well trained in PAR methodologies with at least 4-5 years’ working experience in facilitating PAR using various participatory methods in social development, research design, implementation, coordination, data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting
    Experience in working with government, NGOs and civil society organizations.

    Allowance and accommodation
    This a Voluntary role, All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
