    About the Job:
    Village Enterprise is seeking a candidate who will use his/ her expertise to assist with Village Enterprise’s dynamic field- level monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team and activities for the project. Program areas of involvement include: Oversight for implementation of participants tracking system, data collection, compilation, cleaning and analysis; database and information management system; write-up and deliver the monitoring and evaluation report; conduct field visits and community consultations and community consultations; staff trainings on M&E tools/system; conduct routine data quality assessment; coordination and collaboration with consortium partners; participate and monitor in the organizational research initiatives as well as ensure the field data collection processes.
    Required:

    Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Agriculture or Food Sciences, Economics, Sociology, Development Studies, Business, Education, Geography, Statistics, or related, with at least 2 years of experience in research and analysis, including field work; OR a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) with at least 3 years of post-graduation experience. A Bachelor’s degree in combination with at least 5 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    Familiarity with Gender and Social Inclusion issues in relation to agrifood sector
    Demonstrated experience in managing field teams of at least 10 during data collection
    Previous data collection experience in household surveys, focus group discussions, and observations (ideally with PDAs, mobile phones/tablets, or computers). Knowledgeable in designing and programming mobile based surveys (e.g. with surveyCTO, ODK)
    Strong data and analytical skills and high attention to detail, with experience producing high quality databases and reports

    Position Overview:

    Village Enterprise is looking for an Instructional Designer to support the success of our microenterprise development program. This individual will ensure that the training and mentoring content and its delivery is exceptional, and that it ultimately supports Village Enterprise Entrepreneurs to establish and run successful microenterprises and increase the income, savings, and assets for their families.
    Core Responsibilities
    Training and Mentoring quality and Impact –The Instructional Design Lead will work collaboratively with different team leads to organize learning activities and experiences that set our Field Associates and Business Mentors on the best possible path to succeed to deliver the best possible training and mentoring for our entrepreneurs.  This will be in two parts:

    The actual training and mentoring that our staff provide to our entrepreneurs
    The training that our field staff require to achieve number one

    Content Design – The Instructional Design Lead will be responsible for keeping up with latest trends in training methodologies, learning technologies, practices and using those in collaboration with subject-matter experts.  They will apply these to continually adapt training and mentoring content. 
    Innovations and Performance management – The Instructional Design Lead will use both qualitative and quantitative data from Village Enterprise adaptive management systems to identify and implement innovations which steer Village Enterprise towards greater success.  They will also collaboratively design or support the creation of mentoring sessions to support staff with capacity gaps, working closely with HR and direct reports to achieve the organization’s overall goals and targets around training and mentoring success.
    Specific Responsibilities Include:
    Design, lead, support, and facilitate ‘Trainer of Trainers’ (TOT) workshops for Field Associates and Business Mentors to ensure they deliver exceptional training and mentoring that puts entrepreneurs on the pathway out of extreme poverty. (50%)

    Design and coordinate onboarding of new FAs and BMs around the training and mentoring curriculum to ensure they are ready for field delivery.
    Design, coordinate and conduct ToT for the Field Associates and Business Mentors on training and mentoring methodologies.
    Work cooperatively with team leads to efficiently and effectively facilitate training on key performance improvement areas, new products and other topics.
    Ensure that training programs are executed properly and at an accurate time, while also providing updates or reports to the senior management on the progress of programs.
    Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
    Develop modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes and meaningful course interactions, to increase learning and retention, and measure the effectiveness of the course

     
    Lead a team of matrixed indirect reports to continually analyze, design and develop Village Enterprise training and mentoring content to ensure it improves performance and impact (30%)

    Set instructional end goals and create/ restructure content that matches them
    Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content
    Work with subject matter experts to identify Business Owner and Staff training needs & develop content around it. E.g., Conservation and Gender Equity.
    Visualize and develop/guide development of instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
    Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
    Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
    Maintain project documentation and course folders
    Use PowerPoint to draft screen layouts, graphics and interactions appropriate to the content.
    Write the audio script for each course and work with subject matter expert and voice

    talent to ensure proper pronunciation and style.
    Gather, analyze and act on quantitative and qualitative training and mentoring performance data at Village Enterprise (20%)

    Work with field leads to develop performance indicators around training and mentoring quality for Field Associates and Businesses Mentors.
    Working with Vice President of Programs, Country Directors, Field Associates & Business Mentors to ensure that the training and mentoring provided is satisfying and addresses the needs of Village Enterprise entrepreneurs.  
    Undertake key research to understand the entrepreneurs and staff training needs and facilitate learning and training adaptations, and potential opportunities for partnerships around training and mentoring.
    Responsible for assuring data flows to the appropriate decision makers connected directly to our training and mentoring success (primarily our Field Associates and Business Mentors).

    Business Mentor Activities:
    Manage all Business Mentors (BMs) in your region, ensuring high-quality Core Program implementation
    Regular field visits (3-4 days a week) to assess training and mentoring by the Business Mentors and overall performance of businesses and carry out at least 6 business spot-checks per week.
    Spearhead the Village opening process in all the sub-counties
    Guide Business mentor on SBs and PRs grant applications for viable businesses and approve prior to submitting them to the Regional Manager(RM) or Country Director(CD) for review
    Ensure BMs work plans are developed, followed and timely shared through a google sheet
    Bi-weekly meetings and Induction Training for BMs
    Prepare bi-weekly meeting and agendas, and ensure they are timely update and sharing through a goggle sheet.
    Train BMs on new forms that need to be collected, constantly reinforcing the importance and value of the data we collect and helping BMs troubleshoot issues as needed.
    Work with M&E during each biweekly meeting to confirm that the BMs have collected the proper forms and confirm their upload to the database.
    Lead and conduct Induction Training/onboarding for new BMs.  This includes working closely with departments to prepare agenda, schedule Field Visits, prepare materials 
    Work with Finance & A to ensure that all, induction and bi-weekly materials are printed or made available in a timely manner
    Reporting Program Reporting
    Work with the CD/RM to Collect, Develop, validate, consolidate, revise and submit BM work plans in a timely fashion.       
    Monitor the collection of Mentoring logs and activity reports on behalf of the organization.
    Submit reports and minutes of any meeting attended on behalf of Village Enterprise.
    Ensure updated reports on attendance is tracked.
    Managing Partnerships
    Help establish a relationship with Local Government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders.
    The Field Associate represents the organization at district and sub county level including general meetings with Local government leadership, humanitarian actors, partners, protocol meetings, security meetings, as well as sector program meetings in consultation with the CD/RM.
    Provide Management with reports and feedback from government and partnership meetings as needed within three days after the meeting.
    Support the BMs to register all Business Savings Groups with relevant government authorities at various levels.
    Develop and implement County and sub county entry and Facilitate expansion strategy to new areas of operation in collaboration with the RM/CD.
    The Field Associate provides general support, guidance, and serves as focal point during program planning and reporting.
    Internal activity coordination
    Participate in Innovation Team meetings, actively participating and bring a positive field perspective to the team
    Support BMs in the implementation of pilots, studies and data collection as needed
    Provide feedback and support to overall program, pilots and strategic expansion
    Work with the innovations team to train other partners or organizations
    Act as focal persons for capturing ideas, learnings from the Business mentors and communities and submit to the innovations team.
    Work with M&E to deliver quality BM refresher activities
    Support BMs in phone/Tablet troubleshooting and in guiding BMs through quality data collection protocols
    Vision trip and Donor Visits
    Represent Village Enterprises’ values and program to donors, Guests and visiting staff
    Work with Management to arrange field scheduling for visitors, donors and guests
    Coordinate all preparations at the field level
    In some cases, work on the weekends to accommodate donor and staff visits
    Business Mentor performance appraisal and Professional development.
    Submit quarterly reports to the RM, Human Resource Coordinator and Country Director on Business mentor performance.
    Work with the CD, RM, and HR Coordinator to identify professional development opportunities for BMs and implement them.
    Work with the HR Coordinator to conduct performance reviews for BMs
    Assist with the improvement and development of monitoring activities and materials for business mentors.
    Management and Administration:
    The Field Associate ensures that Village Enterprise procedures and donor regulations applicable to a project implemented in the area of operation concerning program, logistics, fraud control, protection of vulnerable groups and special interest groups in collaboration with the HR Coordinator, CD, and RM.
    The Field Associate is responsible for overseeing the management of day-to-day field operations including monitoring and reporting on staff attendance, staff leave and authorization of minor emergency field expenses in consultation with the HRC/RM/CD.
    Logistics:
    Field Associate is in charge of overseeing and reporting on the logistics the field team including enforcement of field safety guidelines and adherence.
    Responsible for monitoring and reporting equipment usage and storage, planning, and maintenance of equipment and the functioning of the means of communication appropriate for the respective field staff.
    Communication
    Communicate field challenges, opportunities and constraints
    Provide feedback to supervisors and other line managers through Email, phone,
    Participate in Monday Morning Meetings (MMMs) and Partnership meetings by providing field updates and responses to field questions
    Participate and provide content to Field Associates calls.
    Ensure BMs Collect and submit success Stories with photos as needed

    The Impact Creation Lead will

    Hold a degree in International Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, International Development, or a related field; preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree (completed)

    Person Specification
