    The East Africa Regional Office, operating in nine countries of East Africa namely; Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda is looking for an intern Accountant to work in its Nairobi office.   
    We are looking for an intern to join our Finance and Administration team. This opportunity will offer the intern a sharp learning curve by being a member of a diverse and efficient team serving in a fast-paced finance and administration unit. 
    Key areas of involvement
    Accounts Payable Function   

    Process cheques / Online payments with supporting documentation and submit for review and subsequent payment  
    Prepare monthly creditor reconciliations and liaise with vendors to ensure prompt clearance or resolution of pending or disputed items.  
    Liaise with The Finance officer to clear outstanding items in the Bank Reconciliation  

    Cash / Advance Settlement Management  

    Process cash requests according to policy, processes and agreed turnaround times while coordinating with the onsite bank teller to reconcile uncollected amounts.  
    Account Allocation of Balance Sheet A/C relating to Advances for proper Aging  
    Manage the corporate credit card process by booking of the expenses in expense reporting systems General Ledger reconciliation  

    Inter-office payment settlement system operations 

    Perform Account allocation of 500 Accounts relating to Inter-office payment settlement system to track and establish amounts that have not been allocated for payments to ensure that all payable amounts are sent out on a monthly basis.  
    Perform account Allocation and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as may be required  

    Document Management and Archiving 

    Keep records of documents filed or removed using a tracking tool  
    Ensure correct filing, legibility and proper condition of financial documents  
     Find and retrieve information from files in response to requests from authorized internal and external users (Auditors, Government agencies)  

    Administrative Roles  

    Support in Events and facilities management   
    Any other administrative roles as May assigned from time to time  
    Participate in some finance review meetings and any other learning duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.   

    Required Qualifications  

    Bachelor of Commerce in Finance/ Accounting,  CPA Level II Upwards,

    Major Responsibilities
    Management of French-speaking MFIs in Africa

    Supervise jointly with the MFI board the MFI CEOs.
    Sit on MFI boards to represent VFI and to ensure effective two-way communication and ensure each is well-operating boards and in compliance with local laws, regulatory requirements and WV/VFI policies, procedures and directives.

    Management of MFI resources 

    Work with VFI Finance, Fundraising and Capital Markets to secure equity and debt funding for MFIs, particularly for high priority MFIs.
    Work with the Support Centre Director to obtain resources and technical assistance for MFIs according to a programme of work.

    Manage Integration with WV and support the Business Lines

    Strengthen the understanding in WV within each MFI of the benefits of microfinance in contributing to Economic Development, livelihoods and Child Well-Being Outcomes (CWBO).
    Development of best practices in integration, monitoring performance against indicators.
    Building collaborative relationships at all levels to participate in ENOUGH, THRIVE, and other programs as well as grants, response plans and other priority projects across each MFI.
    Support the Business Lines with the delivery of the business plans in the assigned countries.

    Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
    Required Professional Experience

    A minimum of a university degree  in in Finance, Business, Economics, ICT, Engineering or equivalent level of knowledge demonstrated through relevant experience
    Significant leadership experience (minimum of 15 years) largely in a microfinance, banking, and/or finance environment, including a proven track record of managing people in a global, matrix-managed organisation (including mentoring, directing, building capacity)
    Fluent in both French and English Language
    10+ years’ experience managing people at a senior level
    Experience delivering digital transformation (especially core banking systems and digital solutions)
    Experience working in a multinational and multicultural environment with proven cross-cultural effectiveness

    Purpose of Position

    The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to Area Programmes and Grant Projects on the Design, Implementation, Monitoring and Reporting on all advocacy projects and interventions geared towards empowering leaders, children, youth, and communities to hold their governments accountable for policy change and improved service delivery in order to achieve enhanced child well-being outcomes. The position also provides technical support to Cluster Managers and Project Officers in their engagements with County Governments and other partners, networks and coalitions across various Counties where World Vision operates in Kenya.

    Major Responsibilities
    Planning and Implementation (30%)

    Undertake high level political/policy context, root cause, and stakeholder analysis and ensure that external and internal landscapes for advocacy are reviewed annually (or more frequently if required) and that appropriate action is taken to address key trends.
    Examine, explore and analyze the power relations between decision makers and those who influence them and design strategies for engaging these stakeholders to achieve World Vision advocacy objectives at the field level.
    Plan, prepare for and attend meetings with government service providers, government Ministers and bureaucrats, the media, academia – or any stakeholder who could have an influence on a decision – and represent World Visions positions and support Cluster Managers and Project Managers and other World Vision staff to do the same.
    Work closely with the cluster managers and Project Managers to plan for, coordinate and support community engagement, including child and youth engagement, in external relations
    Closely and continuously monitor the political and policy context around an issue, and the key stakeholders involved, to identify opportunities for engagement and to adjust strategy to changing circumstances.

    Strategic Priorities & Technical Oversight

    Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
    Essential:

    Bachelors’ degree in Engineering – Civil, Electrical or Mechanical required 
    Master’s degree strongly preferred in engineering, water policy, water resource management, economics, business, industrial engineering, or another complementary discipline. 
    Work experience of 10+ years required in areas of water and sanitation design, construction, supervision, and quality assurance/quality control data collection.  
    Engineering license in country of residence 
    Demonstrated competencies using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, EPANET, and/or other alternative software 
    Demonstrated competencies in interpersonal communication, stakeholder engagement, and cultural intelligence 
    Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional and remote teams for the purpose of program implementation, development of technical standards, and resource acquisition.
    Excellent facilitation skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, strong negotiation, diplomacy, strong leadership, and teamwork skills.

    Management of French-speaking MFIs in Africa

    Supervise jointly with the MFI board the MFI CEOs.

    Purpose of Position

    The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to Area Programmes and Grant Projects on the Design, Implementation, Monitoring and Reporting on all advocacy projects and interventions geared towards empowering leaders, children, youth, and communities to hold their governments accountable for policy change and improved service delivery in order to achieve enhanced child well-being outcomes. The position also provides technical support to Cluster Managers and Project Officers in their engagements with County Governments and other partners, networks and coalitions across various Counties where World Vision operates in Kenya.

    Major Responsibilities
    Planning and Implementation (30%)

    Undertake high level political/policy context, root cause, and stakeholder analysis and ensure that external and internal landscapes for advocacy are reviewed annually (or more frequently if required) and that appropriate action is taken to address key trends.
    Examine, explore and analyze the power relations between decision makers and those who influence them and design strategies for engaging these stakeholders to achieve World Vision advocacy objectives at the field level.
    Plan, prepare for and attend meetings with government service providers, government Ministers and bureaucrats, the media, academia – or any stakeholder who could have an influence on a decision – and represent World Visions positions and support Cluster Managers and Project Managers and other World Vision staff to do the same.
    Work closely with the cluster managers and Project Managers to plan for, coordinate and support community engagement, including child and youth engagement, in external relations
