    Stove Testing Technician

    About the project:
    Production, distribution, and retail of improved cook stoves is largely undertaken by the informal sector who have limited professional and business acumen capacity to run and grow their enterprises and hardly do stove testing. This has direct impact on their business and technical performance and the quality of the stoves sold on the market.
    To accelerate market growth of the clean cooking sector in Kenya, Strathmore University sub-project under the GCF/EnDev Kenya Project, is undertaking capacity building for stove producers and last mile entrepreneurs targeted at improving the business development capacity and quality assurance. The project supports quality assurance (QA) efforts for ICS producers in collaboration with GIZ for the ICS supply chain through stove testing, market surveillance, training producers on QA, sensitisation of KEBS standards and quality surveillance of supported ICS producers. In order to achieve the project objectives, SERC is establishing a stove testing laboratory to enhance the existing stove testing capacity in the country.
    Responsibilities:

    Conduct stove tests and reports according to ISO Stove technical standards
    Coordinate and periodical/regular testing of stoves sampled from producers in the GCF regions of operation to monitor stove performance
    Planning and coordinate ICS tests for market surveillance aimed at monitoring ICS performance and compliance with the KEBS standards under supervision by the Project Manager;
    Perform other job-related duties and training activities as requested by the Project Manager and direct supervisor.
    Prepare monthly reports on ICS tests and laboratory operation activities such as communication with necessary clients and other testing laboratories;
    Train and support stove producers to establish and maintain strong brands
    Support the development of a simplified methodology in collaboration with KEBS to facilitate the achievement of quality standards by the informal stove producers in Kenya.
    Support the Project Manager with the implementation of the stove producers and communication of test results.

    Requirements
    Ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or agricultural engineering or a similar related field;
    One or two years of relevant work experience working in the field of laboratory works, instrumentation, component testing and field work or a related field;
    Sound analytical, organizational, task management and negotiation skills and the ability to conduct test and data management skills;
    Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spread sheet, power point, data management, and other packages;
    Strong written and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili with an ability to interact with a very broad spectrum of stakeholders
    Knowledge in SME development is an added advantage;

    Receive marked scripts and print Continuous Assessments Tests and overall mark sheets when lecturers submit the marked scripts;
    Assist the Exam coordinator with the logistics for external moderation sessions;
    Ensure the security of exam materials as well as storage of marked exam scripts in a retrievable way including disposing of exam scripts;
    Assist the Exam Coordinator in ensuring the graduation list is prepared on time and free of error
    Assign exam invigilators in consultation with the Exam coordinator and ensure the invigilators are aware of examination rules and regulations.
    Ensure proposed changes in the exam marks by the faculty board are effected in the Academic Management System and post the marks to student’s portals;
    File all exam related records;
    Receive claim forms from invigilators and external examiners and forward them to payroll for processing.

    Tracking client satisfaction with frequent client review meetings and effective evaluation of programs and consultancy engagements.

    OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

    Support the director in the design of coaching programs and products for business executives from the SBS programs as well as SBS and university staff.
    Supporting technical resource persons and key experts to ensure delivery of client promise and delivery of expected outcomes to the clients.
    Initiating and driving the coaching design process in liaison with Director, Lead coaches, and coach trainers and their teams. This includes designing coaching projects and other unique program features.
    Preparing internal coaching management reports and client reports as required, to support data-driven decision-making for enhanced client relations and effective process improvement.
    Ensure high standards on ethics, and confidentiality is maintained.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in business development with proven experience in sales, coach management, managing client relations, and key account management. Direct experience in consultancy will be an added advantage.

    Issuing of clearance forms and gowns to students during graduation.

    Basic job summary:
    The job holder will ensure the effective management of the University data processes and subjects in compliance with the Data Protection Act, No. 24 of 2019.
    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Act as point of contact with the office of the Data Protection Commissioner, other supervisory authorities, internal teams and other stakeholders including partners of the University;
    Establish the Data Protection framework and implementation plan;
    Drive implementation of essential elements of the Data Protection Act, such as; the principles of data processing, data subjects’ rights, data protection by design and by default, records of processing activities, security of processing, and notification and communication of data breaches;
    Interface with data controllers and data subjects and sensitize them about their rights, obligations, and responsibilities;
    Provide regular status updates to management and draw immediate attention to any compliance risks and exposure to the applicable data protection rules;
    Collaborate with the Information Security function to maintain records of all data assets and exports, and maintain a data security Incident Management Plan to ensure timely remediation of incidents: including; impact assessments, security breach response, complaints, claims or notifications, and responding to subject access requests (SARs);
    Identify and evaluate the University’s data processing activities;
    Provide advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs);
    Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the University;
    Participate in meetings with managers to ensure privacy by design at all levels;
    Maintain records of processing operations;
    Ensure we address all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes (e.g. delete their information from our databases);
    Liaise with other organisations that process data on our behalf;

    Offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches;

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    System Development: Propose new systems and/or modify existing systems through software coding and testing, in order to viably meet the requirements of respective business owner or University department while using appropriate methods that effectively meet system security requirements.
    Application Code Maintenance: Maintain and safeguard the code repository for respective systems
    Technical Support: Provide technical and functional supervision during change and/or implementation of new/old systems.

    System and Database Administration: To conduct the role of systems and database administrator only for systems he/she was not involved in developing. Further, she/he will work with systems audit and security teams to enhance systems security and quality and to expeditiously resolve identified non-conformities.
    Systems Resilience and Disaster Recovery: Ensure that regular backups and restoration tests are carried out as per laid down policy for all systems. Further, he/she will be involved in designing system resilience such as applications clustering, among others.
    Learning and Innovation: Research on new technologies that may enhance current processes or deal with identified problem areas as well grow and maintain professional skills by attending educational seminars/conferences, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional bodies.
