    Background
    USAID AN is the USAID’s flagship multi-sectoral nutrition project, led by the JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), and a diverse group of partners. USAID AN implements multi-sectoral nutrition interventions and provides technical support to USAID and its partners. USAID and build local capacity, support behavior change, and strengthen the enabling environment for nutrition. Save the Children is the lead implementing partner for USAID AN in Kenya.
    USAID/Kenya engaged USAID Advancing Nutrition for a two-year Activity to support the capacity of local stakeholders and organizations to implement multi-sectoral nutrition agendas and plans at the national and county levels. USAID would like the project to help amplify the voices of the vulnerable at county and national levels and strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to advocate for improved nutrition for the most vulnerable. The project will be implemented in Kakamega, Kisumu and Kitui. USAID AN will also support national level coordination of multi-sectoral nutrition and facilitate provision of technical support by the national government during implementation of the project.
     
    USAID AN has undertaken scoping and landscape analysis exercise and the findings will be validated and enhanced during a co-creation process with USAID/Kenya and in-country stakeholders, including county and national government, private sector, and civil society. The expected outcome of co-creation sessions will be a jointly created work plan including activities, monitoring and evaluation, and budget, to be approved by USAID/Kenya.
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field; Ph.D. or M.D. preferred.
    At least 10 years of experience leading, managing and implementing large international development projects in nutrition, health policy, capacity strengthening, governance, behaviour change communication, community development, food security and/or agriculture.
    At least 8-10 of professional experience working in Kenya, especially with the Ministry of Health and county governments.
    Strong knowledge of multi-sectoral nutrition programming and coordination mechanisms in Kenya, including the health system; health facility- and community-based nutrition services; and nutrition-sensitive agriculture and livelihood interventions.
    Demonstrated success across project management: co-creation process; strategic program planning; work planning and budgeting; financial, administrative, contractual management and oversight; relationship management with multiple clients; oversight of program monitoring and evaluation; and documentation of results for USAID-funded programs.
    Superior leadership, management and communication skills to lead a USAID-funded multi-sectoral nutrition project. This includes professional experience interacting with the USAID/KEA Mission, Kenya national and county government, and other relevant stakeholders.
    Demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    Proven ability to supervise and mentor staff from different cultures.
    Working knowledge of virtual communication platforms: Microsoft Teams, Google Meets, Zoom; Microsoft software packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    Role Purpose
    The SBC Officer will implement all adolescent sexual reproductive health (ASRH) SBC related interventions in Turkana and Samburu. The SBC Officer will support in the designing of the overall SBC strategy and integrated umbrella campaign. S/he will ensure that all SBC activities support the achievement of health & nutrition targets in the project sites. The position will be responsible for the timely implementation of all SBC related activities based on state of the art SBC practices and capture lessons learned. The SBC officer will also take a leading role in coordination with all project staff and partners in the consortium to adhere to the SBC strategy and approach in their respective Counties. S/he will work closely with project technical and management staff to generate stakeholder inputs, support in development of implementation plans and suitable knowledge management and measurement.
    NAWIRI is a 5 year U.S. Government (USAID and Food For Peace) funded project designed to tackle persistent acute malnutrition rates in northern Kenya. The project is co-created, co-implemented, and co-measured to address problems and solve them at the county level. Save the Children is a member of the Mercy Corps-led consortium and will be implementing in Samburu and Turkana counties.
    Key Areas of Accountability
    Technical assistance and capacity building

    The SBC Officer will implement the SBC approach, support branding campaign platforms and work with all purpose leaders (Governances, health & nutrition, WASH and Livelihoods) to ensure they are using state-of-the-art SBC approaches linked to the overall strategy and work with them to support the development of SBC content and implementation (i.e. trigger videos, forum theatre, experiential fairs, radio diaries) as appropriate.
    Support in provision of state of the art and evidence based technical inputs and guide priority setting for the research agenda and activities in collaboration with the SBC Advisor and other technical teams.
    Support in designing strategy and umbrella campaign with stakeholder input and audience testing
    Support in actively identifying direct technical inputs from all technical areas to ensure effective support for their targets; coordinate project SBC activities in respective Counties and provide direct technical support to other technical counterparts as needed.
    Cultivate strategic relationships with government ministries, and other stakeholders for the smooth implementation of program activities in their assigned County
    Coordinate monitoring of SBC activities with other staff according to the M&E framework and assess if targets are achieved and document results in their assigned County.
    Ensure the timeliness and quality of all SBC content for reports and meet all reporting requirements.

    Representation and advocacy

    Represent NAWIRI in relevant internal and external fora as required.
    Represent Save the Children in relevant internal and external fora as appropriate
    Work closely with the Health and Nutrition team and any other project and operations teams in advocating for the survival of the child in line with the Country Strategic Plan and global strategy of Save the Children

    Capacity Building, Mentorship and development

    Lead and motivate the community own resource persons (e.g. CHVs) to ensure effective project implementation.
    Work with Civil Society Organizations(CSOs)/Sub grantees (e.g. Local implementing partners, community based organizations (CBOs), Faith based Organizations(FBOs) to define expectations, provide leadership and support as needed, and evaluate performance regularly
    Capacity built the CSOs, CBOs, FBOS, Community own resource persons to ensure they have the requisite skills and knowledge to be able to implement projects as required.

    Assessment, monitoring, evaluation and documentation

    Participate in the annual work planning process in close collaboration with USAID & FFP, MOH and County health teams and the project staff
    Prepare narrative reports for the donor(s) and Save the Children as required, ensuring these are of a high quality and submitted for review in a timely manner. This will involve compilation of information from a range of project staff and MoH partners
    Monitor program outputs and results and work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Research team to ensure that results are documented and reported accurately and in a timely manner
    Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Research team and ensure that all monitoring plans, baselines, reviews and evaluations are in line with the project design and donor guidelines and are being implemented as required.
    Facilitate appropriate dissemination of research findings and good practices documentations in the project internally and externally to donors, governments, consortium partners and other key actors for immediate and sustainable development of children in Kenya
    Escalate complaints and feedback of a serious nature to field manager/Technical Head and child safeguarding focal point.

    Knowledge management

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field
    Experience implementing SBC, ASRH, health promotion, social marketing, child health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene or similar programs in Kenya. Knowledge of and ability to implement using the Human Centred Design would be an advantage.
    Minimum of 5 years of experience required in health communication, public health promotion, health or behavioural sciences, or related field and demonstrated experience in community-based and inter-disciplinary teams.
    Demonstrated ability to implemented effective behaviour change campaigns, including community engagement and experiential activities in Kenya; prior experience working in Northern Kenya highly desired

    Role Purpose
    This role will be instrumental in strengthening systems and procedures of the Supply Chain function in the Save the Children Kenya and Madagascar, reinforcing the local capacity of staff and partners and ensuring an organised working system is in place aiming at efficiency, effectiveness and quality in satisfying the programmatic needs for all project implementation. The Head of Supply Chain will provide leadership to the supply chain team, ensures support and performs controls over all aspects of the supply chain function across the whole country office. The role holder well be in charge of the Supply chain team in Nairobi, and is technical referent for all Supply Chain Staff and functions at field locations including Madagascar. The role holder will also be responsible to coordinate with all relevant stakeholders and functions within the Country Office, by ensuring positive collaboration dynamics are in place, and that planning for ongoing critical activities performed together with all key colleagues involved in project implementation.     QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    Essential:

    Post graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, business administration, procurement or related field or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience with at least 5 years senior level management including both development and humanitarian contexts.
    At least 5 years of experience in supply chain management in INGOs and/or complex /large scale programmes in humanitarian emergency response environments;
    Professional supply chain qualification from recognised institution/Membership of a professional body i.e. KISM or CIPS.

    The Senior Research and Strategy Coordinator leads the research & learning and strategy definition activities in the Migration and Displacement team. He/she will be responsible for strategy visioning, designing, managing and conducting research with the aim of strengthening the Regional Programming Unit’s (RPU) role in gathering and publishing evidence and contributing to regional and global conversations about protecting migrant children.     Experience in research, evidence and learning in the NGO sector, with regional experience being an advantage;

    Our vision is that Save the Children be the leading voice for Children and their rights in the Eastern and Southern Africa region, while including also linkage with Bangladesh, Asia.
    The Regional Advocacy and Campaigns Manager under the guidance of the Head of Advocacy, Campaigns, Communication and Media, ESA will support efficient and effective implementation of Advocacy and Campaigns Country Plans in the East and Southern Africa region. She/he will be responsible in tracking and supporting the development and implementation of campaign strategies that will engage the public to influence governments and other institutional policies and practice to achieve positive and lasting changes to influence children’s survival, learning and protection. She/he will be responsible to ensure a child centred lens to all campaigns and clear connection related to priority thematic and policy advocacy.
    The Regional Advocacy and Campaign Manager will play a key role to enable the implementation by Country Offices of creative and impactful campaigns which lead to positive changes for the most deprived and most marginalised children across Eastern and Southern Africa. He/she will provide support to Save the Children Country Offices in the development and implementation of their campaign and popular mobilisation plans. She/he will be responsible in tracking and supporting the development and implementation of campaign strategies that will engage the public to influence government and other institutional policies and practice to achieve positive and lasting changes to fulfil children’s rights.
    This role will also serve as the Right2Grow (R2G) Advocacy Liaison Officer. R2G is a Strategic Partnership between Action Against Hunger, the Centre for Economic Governance and Accountability Africa (CEGAA), Max Foundation, Save the Children, The Hunger Project and World Vision. With funding from the Dutch Government (Civil Society Strengthening – Power of Voices), R2G will collaborate with communities, community-based organisations and civil society organisations in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, South Sudan and Uganda from 2021-2025, to advocate for coordinated policies and actions in the domains of Nutrition and WASH (Nutrition-WASH nexus).
    Lobby and Advocacy are at the heart of the R2G programme, and especially covering as an overall umbrella the activities in the six countries. Based on the global lobby and advocacy strategy, as well as the country plans, the role will support and feed the global lobby and advocacy activities. At the same time, the position will ensure collaboration with the Global Lead on Lobby and Advocacy, the Dutch Advocacy Lead and the CSO Mutual Capacity Support on L&A, where required, as well as with the Communication Lead.
    Advocacy is central to Save the Children’s theory of change and to achieving our ambitious goals for children. Evidence-based advocacy, supported by popular awareness and mobilisation, can lead to improved policies and programs that result in improved outcomes for Children. Most advocacy and campaign activities are delivered nationally by our Country Offices and Partners, but a dedicated regional capacity is essential to help catalyse, support and coordinate this work, as well as engage with regional institutions where this adds value. It is important to build the capacity of all Staff and Partners involved in national and regional advocacy, and to use evidence from program work to inform national, regional and global advocacy.
    The post holder will also play a representational role at times.
    In order to be successful you will bring/have:
    Essential

    BA or Masters Degree in related field.
    Strong background in advocacy leadership at a senior level on international issues, including policy development and supporting advocacy as part of programmes- at least seven years of demonstrated experience.
    Practical experience of building networks and engaging with coalitions.
    Experience of campaigning for and with Children with demonstrable understanding and experience of how to connect Children’s issues with public opinion and actions.
    Experience of public campaigning in a corporate or an NGO environment, with proven record in successfully leading the development and implementation of successful advocacy and campaign strategies to achieve policy and normative change.
    Highly developed analytical writing skills and ability to analyse complex data and to summarise and communicate them in ways that are accessible to a range of audiences from different cultural backgrounds.
    Excellent training, facilitation, and team building skills.
    Knowledge of the regional institutions and the way they function.
    Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind sets.
    Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; skills in other languages would be an advantage.
    Makes independent decisions and solves problems on new and complex issues, requiring creative and systems thinking to find best solutions.
    A high level of computer literacy.
    Experience of, and willingness to travel in, a broad range of developing countries, sometimes at short notice and for extended periods of time.

    Regional Security Specialist (RSS), Nairobi

    The Regional Security Specialist (RSS)- position has been created to provide support to ESARO Country Offices (12) through increasing capacity and offering technical support and advice on all aspects of staff safety and security and by ensuring appropriate systems are in place at country level.
    The RSS supports the Regional Safety and Security Director (RSSD) in supporting the Region’s Country Office safety and security management improvements consistent with SC Safety and Security Policy by conducting safety and security assessments; and reviewing and analysing incident reports and security updates.  In addition, the RSS will be available to deploy, sometimes at very short notice, to SCI declared emergencies to ensure safety and security management is addressing emergency response. The RSS will be an experienced Trainer, with proven skills and ability to facilitate both Face to Face Training and also Virtual Training for Regional Office and Country Office staff throughout East and Southern Africa Region.
    In order to be successful you will bring/have:

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university/institution.
    Not less than five (5) years’ experience working for INGO or UN in relevant fields – three (3) years of which is at regional/senior level position.

    Account Payables

    Receives finance documents from the field offices.
    Review and register the completeness of documents received from the field and report on any omissions/missing documentation to the support services officer.
    Prepare payment vouchers for all payments received and ensure that they have been signed-off as per the scheme of delegation.
    Sign off documents as per Scheme of Delegation.
    Preparation and Validation of Mpesa payments before payment.
    Timely preparation of statutory deduction payments, this is withholding tax and PAYE

    Accounting

    Register all documents through the accounts payable module in the Financial Management System or prepare accompanying GLACOS and submit the payment vouchers for review by the line manager for posting and further processing.
    Processing the payroll, international staff tax and annual leave GLACOs for review and posting by the line manager or appointed designate.
    Perform aging analysis and supplier reconciliations.

    Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliation;

    Single Account Reconciliation as directed by the line manager
    Perform Monthly Bank Reconciliations for approval by the line manager
    Perform Monthly MPESA Reconciliations for approval by the line manager

    Audit

    Support the FM in the preparation of statutory and donor audits in the country office including preparation of financial statements as per the auditor’s requirement.
    Ensure clear audit trail of processed transactions and their linkage to the accounting system
    Implementation of any accounting and financial audit recommendations.

    Other

    Provision of information to field offices on the status of payment for each of their requests.
    Back stop for Finance Officer Treasury.
    Participate in Procurement committees in the Country Office.
    Any other budgeting related issues.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Undergraduate degree in Accounting/finance or equivalent.
    Professional Accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA) (a must)
    Minimum three-year’s relevant experience in Finance support Services within a busy organization preferably an INGO
    Highly skilled in financial statement preparation for purposes of audit.
    Excellent understanding of business and financial planning including strategic modelling.
    Computer fluency; highly competent using Microsoft Excel and other MS applications.
    Familiarity with computerised accounting systems
    Ability to gather facts and data, scrutinise with ease, determine a logical solution and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
    Proven ability to handle challenging workload.
    The highest level of integrity and commitment to prevent corruption and Fraud.
    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all departments in the Regional.
