    Our Internship program runs quarterly i.e. From April to June, July to September, October to December and January to March 2023.  Call for applications will only happen once in the financial year allowing you to plan which quarter of the year you are available for. This internship will seek to expose you to the various teams within your assigned divisions e.g. Sales support, Marketing, Market research, MPESA, HR, Finance, Procurement, Audit, Corporate sales and innovation.
    As an intern, you will be exposed to ‘on job training’ and exposure to our experienced leaders throughout the program. Through an internship with us, you’ll tackle business challenges that make a real impact. You’ll work alongside teams performing real tasks and you’ll develop your skills and build your network in a dynamic environment designed to support your long-term career objectives.
    In keeping with our current learning needs, we are looking for University students who meet the criteria indicated below:

    You must be in your final or second last year of any Business-related degree program in an accredited institution of higher learning undertaking a Bachelor’s Degree.
    You must be on break from school during the internship period for any of the quarters within the year.
    Knowledge in any digital vertical within commercial e.g. digital marketing, digital sales, data science will be an added advantage
    Must be available for the full period of the internship program (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm)
    You can only select 1 quarter in the year for which you will be available for the internship
    The internship is for a fixed period of three months without extension.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS

    Ideal candidate’s requirements:
    Desire to gain professional experience and is incredibly eager to learn and explore the corporate environment
    Oral and written communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, as well as the ability to challenge the status quo will enhance a successful internship.
    Basic proficiency in MS office suite skill required.

    You will work with the Operations team to ensure forecasted throughput can be handled through M-Pesa transaction systems
    You will work with Technology to optimise process around incident management and follow up
    You will build relationships with technical contacts in M-Pesa markets in order to manage and troubleshoot BAU market problems and issues
    You will capture Partner requirements and work with the M-Pesa Online Product Manager to translate them into “Open API” product features

    Bachelor’s degree required, a master’s degree in a related field preferred
    Agile Experience including experience working with international organizations – minimum 3 years
    At least 7 years of professional experience, with at least 4 years in a technical role within the Payments domain
    Ability to work proactively within a demanding environment, being a key contributor to a fast-moving product development process
    Strong analytical skills, able to identify solutions to complex problems
    Demonstrable numerical, analytical, and verbal skills – in particular, well-developed written and verbal communication skills in English
    Experience working within a multi-national team and serving customers from multiple countries would be of benefit

    Detailed Description
    The role report to the Tribe Lead the role holder is responsible for leading a cross functional agile squad to develop and take to market product propositions that are relevant to the Enterprise market in the areas of Digitizing Enterprise Customers processes. They will also be responsible for coordinating activities with all relevant stakeholders within and out of the tribe to ensure that product propositions created by the squad are commercially viable, are taken to market appropriately. They will work to collect customer insights and communicate the same to squad. They motivated the squad by providing clarity of scope and expected outcomes of their work linking the outcomes to the squad’s vision and implied tasks and to the tribe mission.
    Roles and Responsibilities

    Develop and manage bespoke solutions for the Enterprise customer.
    Work closely with various stakeholders in the business to gain market insights and anticipate the requirement of the squad in capabilities and knowledge to serve the customer better.
    Defines the product vision and coordinates with the Tribe Lead and other Product Owners to combine various capabilities to bring to life customer process digitization.
    Create, priorities and maintain a product backlog in accordance to the tribe mission ensuring value maximization and alignment to the tribe mission.
    Contributes to the squad with relevant product knowledge in the development of tasks;
    Keep up with agile/scrum best practices and trends.
    Work closely with the customer to develop the criteria of done for each workload, checking with the customer as the development progresses.
    Engages stakeholders and senior leaders regularly on all aspects of the product;
    Management of end to end product lifecycle using the agile approach, including products rationalization and performance review that leads to enhancements of existing product category and retirement/replacement of products that are neither profitable nor delivering retention and brand equity values for the business.
    Create and manage winning partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders including Technology and service vendors, commercial partners and internal support teams to create and deliver end-to-end innovation value chains for enterprise customers.
    Stays updated on relevant industry, technology and market trends and combine this with a needs analysis at prospective customers and market segments to identify winning propositions that deliver to the business unit objectives of revenue, retention and innovation KPIs.
    Coordinate with the marketing and commercial teams to Identify, develop, and evaluate Go to market strategy, based on knowledge of establishment objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors.
    Evaluate the financial aspects of product category, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on investment and profit-loss projections. Coordinate with the commercial teams on development of pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
    Defines skills and capabilities required for proper operation of new squads together with Tribe Lead, Tech Co Lead and Chapter Leads;
    Uses tools like Mind mapping, story boards, sketch storm during the solution engagement
    Get and utilize customers input and insights in product requirements definition. Co create with customers
    Define the Product User Requirements / Market Requirements Document infusing User needs, Technology needs and business needs
    Leads the development of commercial models to drive overall revenue and customer lifetime value growth.
    Drives Course correction of solutions that do not meet the set long-term targets
    Defines the long-term solution growth of the product in line with all cost related metrics that will be used as the heartbeat for measuring the success of the solution
    Leads in the collaboration of the product distribution value chain for the solution (channels, channel commissions, GTM)

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university preferred but not limited to commercial disciplines 
    Knowledge of principles of Devops.
    Experience in the sales, execution or solution designing of End to end customer value chain digitization
    Experience or knowledge of Digital Technologies applications in various domains.
    Certification by a recognized professional body will be an added advantage
    Experience in the B2B business models and environments with certifications in this area.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills.
    Excellent presentation skills to unpack technologies to meet customer requirements.
    Knowledge and experience with agile way of working.
