    OVERALL, JOB PURPOSE
    Working with the relevant pillar heads, to ensure establishment of a business and operational compliance framework and system in line with best practice and regulatory guidelines. Ensuring that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behaviour in the organization meets the Company’s Standards of Conduct
    Develop and maintain the appropriate risk management framework and systems for both FSDAi and FSD Africa.
    The job involves enterprise-wide coordination of identification and management of all risks and develop, maintain, manage, and execute a comprehensive process for identifying, assessing, mitigating, monitoring and reporting on risks that may impact on organizational performance.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLE REQUIREMENTS
    Strategic Planning and Management
    Participate in the design and implementation of pillar strategy and process to advise on aspects that will result in the implementation of a coherent Strategic plan that is relevant and achievable:

    Undertake a review of the FSD Africa’s and FSDAi’ s operating environment and its corporate strategy to identify significant risk or opportunity exposures and advise the management and the board accordingly.
    Develop and integrate the risk management strategy within the organizational strategy
    Conduct strategic situational analysis and benchmarking against best practice and what other players are doing to assess appropriateness of FSD Africa’s risk management framework.
    Develop the functions and organizations risk strategy; researching and advising on updates in industry practices, policies, and risk awareness.

    Keep abreast with external events which could have a negative impact on the organisation and advise management with appropriate control measures.

    Policies, Procedures and Systems
    Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s risk management processes in order to minimize business risk:

    Defines FSD Africa’s risk profile and risk appetite statement and put in place mechanisms for identification, assessment, measurement, mitigation and reporting risk exposures at all levels in the organization.
    Develops and implement a framework for ensuring continuity of business operations (Business Continuity Management framework- BCM)
    Oversees risk assessment assignments and development of risk registers  to ensure they are carried out in line with FSD Africa’s risk management framework, work plans and generally accepted standards, and monitoring completion of assignments by the team.
    Takes the lead in identifying business risks within all process risks and follow up to ensure mitigation strategies are implemented.
    Preparing and presenting regular risk management reports to Management, FARC and relevant stakeholders including findings, risk positions and recommendations in line with the ERM framework, policies and procedures.
    Establish and maintain a risk management philosophy and culture through ERM awareness activities, understanding the risk maturity model, establishing risk appetite and tolerance levels, and participation in ERM activities.
    Manage the coordination of risk management with all assurance providers such as internal / external audit, compliance, and forensic functions.

    Compliance and Controls
    Ensure compliance in the organization by conducting regular assessments of compliance issues that will result in early address of the same:

    Develop and review FSD Africa’s and FSDAi Risk and Compliance strategy ensuring that written policies outline specific standards and approved business practices and ensure that roles, responsibilities and business rules / guidelines are documented and that all FSDAi and FSD Africa’s policies should include all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
    Develop an annual compliance workplan to evaluate services / providers to assess vulnerabilities to breaches of legal and regulatory standards by proactively identifying, measuring and assessing all the compliance and financial risks associated with the business including the development of new processes / services and business practices. Ensure that this is supplemented by a self-assessment program based on compliance standards and benchmarks embedded within FSD Africa’s and FSDAi Risk and Compliance programme.
    Coordinate independent compliance tests and BCM to detect and correct compliance and financial crime control weakness by employing a risk-based approach and placing emphasis on high risk areas.
    Ensure timely preparation an circulation of required periodic compliance reports to regulators, CEO, CIO, Management, FARC and the Board as appropriate.
    Maintain and regularly update a compliance issues database and compliance obligation registers for the various business units in line with the Compliance Framework and best practice principles, tracking closure actions and escalate long outstanding items to Management.
    Provide advisory and recommendations to the group on compliance matters towards advancing pillar / business objectives while meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
    Act as the compliance liaison contact with subsidiaries such as FSDA Contracting, FSD Ethiopia
    100% adherence to relevant policies and procedures and statutory guidelines

    Capacity Building
    Contribute to strategic knowledge sharing and capacity building so as to raise awareness and importance of risk management within the organisation:

    Promote a culture of risk-awareness and control across the organisation through sensitization and training.
    Develop and manage the implementation of a capacity building plan for risk and compliance.
    Formulate training programmes and conduct annual training for risk and compliance areas as well as additional training for areas with the greatest risk exposure and carry out periodic or one-off interventions to address compliance and controls knowledge transfer needs for each pillar or subsidiaries.
    Research and share any emerging trends in risk management and compliance globally.

    Team Leadership
    Lead the risk management team in a manner that empowers them to deliver FSD Africa’s goals, as well as provide high levels of (internal & external) customer service:

    Role Purpose
    The Manager, Nature Programme role will:

    Scope out existing research (and undertake additional research if agreed upon), to gain a deep and comprehensive understanding of how to catalyse finance to better manage and transfer nature-related risk and develop nature-related opportunity.
    Share learnings associated with strategy development and programming with the broader FSD Africa organisation and partners (incl. the FSD Africa Green Working Group).
    Support broader fundraising efforts underway across FSD Africa, including through co-drafting applications with the Fundraising Committee and Pillar Heads, offering perspectives on where nature-related ‘angles’ could be incorporated into proposals, and developing project concepts with consortia of partners as needed.
    Work collaboratively with the Development Impact function to devise and manage results measurement and learning frameworks that will yield important insights into the development of effective long-term strategies, approaches, and interventions.

    Project Origination and Planning
    Assist the Lead, Natural Capital in developing a portfolio of nature-related projects and implementing partners which will collectively be effective in driving impact and systemic change:

    Identify and select potentially impactful implementing partners, supporting them where necessary through the due diligence process (including the development & signing of MOUs/contracts).
    Collaborate with implementing partners and relevant technical experts to develop project proposals that comply with Investment Committee standards.
    Ensure that all staff, consultants and implementing partners involved in nature-related projects are fully briefed concerning expectations; especially on project milestone targets, quality standards, data collection/reporting, and compliance with accountability requirements.
    Develop detailed implementation plans, budgets and cash-flow forecasts that will ensure project success – where necessary, address nature-related capacity gaps of partners.

    Project Implementation
    Co-ordinate the roll-out of Risk & Resilience’s nature-related risk projects so that results are achieved, timelines are managed, and quality projects are delivered; ensuring that ongoing learning from projects is fully utilised to maximise impact and innovation. The position holder must particularly index towards exceptional program management skills with a demonstrated ability to organise multiple tasks effectively.

    Work with implementing partners to assist them in disseminating messaging and deliverables according to the project plans, maintaining strategic clarity, focusing on impact, and with a collaborative approach.
    In case of an implementing partner having challenges, provide analytical support, or organize the provision of support to ensure project success.
    Co-develop and engage other FSD Africa Pillars as appropriate in other nature-related work, including, but not limited to, debt sustainability analysis, digital/data generating projects and enabling infrastructure, development impact-linked research, communications and advocacy campaigns, and guiding nature and biodiversity related investments.
    Review the Quarterly monitoring and evaluation reports for any allocated projects and take appropriate action based on results and analysis:

    Manage relationships with key sponsors including TNFD, HMG DEFRA & FCDO, consultants, financial institutions, and public stakeholders such as Finance Ministries and Regulatory bodies, engaging in advocacy for nature-related action, building stakeholder awareness and aiming to influence policy at the highest levels of public-sector decision-making.
    Consult and collaborate with the Risk & Resilience Pillar and Strategic Communications team to identify how stakeholders need to be influenced to support the success of interventions for nature-related risk management; this may include a need to advocate for legislative/policy reform or to incentivize (or some other supporting mechanism) greater action amongst potential beneficiaries for mindset change.

    Program Assistant

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Programme Assistant is responsible for the smooth running of the project and general administrative functions of the Strategic Communications and Engagement & Development Impact (DI) Pillars.
    The Programme Assistant makes an important contribution to the achievement of FSD Africa’s strategy by freeing up the pillar staff to focus on the substantive technical content of their roles
    The job holder promotes a client-oriented approach providing timely and quality support and coordinates key stakeholders (e.g. consultants, implementing partners, important contacts) and pillar teams to monitor the implementation of pillar workplans plans.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLE REQUIREMENTS

    Communication and Content Development: Support the Directors and the Pillar teams in managing strategic relationships and rolling out the Pillar’s communication and advocacy plan:
    FSD Africa Website and Digital Management: Support in the overall management of the FSD Africa website including monitoring of the delivery of service providers contracts, reviewing of web content, promotion of website content to increase traffic and liaising with internal teams to manage their own portals within the global website
    Media monitoring and tracking: Monitor, review and record media coverage of FSD Africa and financial sector development including thematics news on capital markets, digital economy, investments and risk and resilience for circulation to relevant pillar teams
    New Project On-boarding: Support the Pillar teams with the processes involved in gaining approvals for new projects, onboarding implementing partners (IPs), and procuring the professional services required for successful implementation:
    Programme Implementation Support: Provide logistical and administrative support to the delivery of Strategic Communications and Engagement& Development Impact Pillar Projects; acting as part of the team in ensuring the results articulated in project plans are achieved:
    Travel & Transport : Make travel arrangements for Communications and DI Staff and key external stakeholders on FSD Africa business
    Events Management
    Record Keeping: Carry out any other duties or special assignments as assigned by the Management.

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
    Qualifications and Education

    An undergraduate degree in from a recognised university
    Proficiency in standard computer applications including Microsoft Office, design software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Canva etc).

    Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills

    Proven, strong organisational skills, including the ability to self-start, prioritise and proactively respond to evolving/ unfolding demands
    Ability to build sustainable work relationships with internal and external partners to meet own and departmental KPIs.

    Desirable

    Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
    Previous experience of working in FCDO-funded or other donor-funded projects
    Languages: French, local African languages
