    Qualifications

    Financial Accountant

    PURPOSE:

    To provide the financial support on budgetary controls and cost leadership.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Prepare consolidated budget reports, track monthly analytical variances and ratios.
    Provide inputs, information and statistics for all stakeholders’ periodic operating expense, capex and intercompany
    Preparation and analysis of monthly Holding company management accounts and quarterly board reports.
    Preparation, reconciliation and sharing of monthly expense reports across the Group and Departmental expenses including budget variance analysis
    Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and returns for statutory audit.
    Updating Revenue accounts with budgets and prior year numbers on a monthly basis
    Ensure data, information and reports remains clear and are consistent across the Group entities (single source of truth)
    Approve purchase requisitions in line with budgets and ensure that all accounting transactions are posted to the correct cost centers
    Ensure proper expense TB mappings and update of expenses to the GL and subledgers and update of intercompany transactions and interest accruals
    Ensure TB to GL reconciliations, including fixed asset register, tax recons
    Plan, prepare and facilitate external and internal audits schedules and information as per Audit calendar
    Liaison with all reporting entities (including Regions) to ensure timely and accurate reports as per set TAT’s and SLA’s.
    Support in implementation of any financial reporting systems and tools.
    Ensure all advances are recovered on a timely manner

    Academic and Professional Requirements

    Education

    Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Business-related field from a reputable university

    Reinsurance Officer Assistant Reinsurance Manager Underwriting Assistant – Thika Branch

    PURPOSE:

    To support the business operations through supporting underwriting and claims departments in business. They will be responsible for placement of risks & recoveries from the reinsurers, reinsurance accounting and also handle reinsurance correspondences.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Grow inward facultative business and collect premiums, through acquisition of new and retention of existing business;
    Place all risks that are in excess of capacity;
    Any other duty as may be given by the Reinsurance Manager
    Ensure timely treaty and facultative claims recoveries and as per the set timelines and budgets
    Monitor the claims reinsurance register to ensure claims are correctly allocated into the relevant treaties;
    Ensure new claims payments are immediately documented to the reinsurers;
    Follow up with Treaty and Facultative reinsurers on claims recoverable;
    Following up on receipting of all recoveries to the appropriate accounts and maintain up to date records of the same.
    In liaison with the claims department, ensure claims payable to reinsurers (facultative) are registered and documented.
    Managing facultative inward and outward business and preparing reconciliations for all businesses
    Calling for payments of facultative accounts and calling for reinsurance treaty recoveries.
    Seeking of facultative support for risks not covered under the scope of the treaty arrangements;
    Follow up with facultative reinsurers on claims recoverable;
    In liaison with the claims department, ensure claims payable to reinsurers (facultative) are registered and documented.
    Travel insurance management
    Custom Bonds underwriting & Management
    Bankers Blanket Bond underwriting & claims Management
    Reconcile funds received from reinsurers vs cash book;
    In liaison with the finance department, clean up the reinsurance recoveries receipts;
    Track payments received from reinsurers;

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Group Database Administrator

    PURPOSE:
    Responsible for recommending, implementing and monitoring system database as well as providing support to application system administrator and implementing best practice and procedures to manage company’s data and information. He/ She will provide DBA support for production, development and test Database environments and resolve database performance issues. Maintain end-to-end responsibilities for databases (Oracle, MS SQL and PostgreSQL).
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsible for installation, configuration, optimization, tuning, upgrade & maintenance of database instances including maintaining database backup and recovery infrastructure both on premise and offsite to meet Business Data Recovery Objectives.
    Management of project implementation tasks and administering of Oracle Fusion Middleware (WebLogic, BI, ODI, Audit Vault, Database firewall), including patching and cloning WebLogic domains. Manage and support high performance, highly available and mission critical database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, postgreSQL, MariaDB) for the Insurance core applications and other systems.
    Working with both internal and external auditors to ensure database systems adhere to the Company policies and licensing requirements and promptly addressing any violations raised and overseeing continuous service level improvements initiatives associated with core processes and mission-critical systems.
    Review and design database structures, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, ASM, SQL server transactional replication and MySQL group clusters to support business requirements including logical and physical database modelling.
    Implement and perform database backup and recovery strategies that meet recovery and availability requirements. 
    Making requested changes, updates and modifications to database structures and migrating approved database changes from test into production environments, ensuring IT change management policies are adhered to.
    Manage and support Enterprise Data warehouse including the development of reports from the data warehouse platform.
     Works with various teams to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
    Implement database security policies that are consistent with CIC group security policies.
    Implement best practices and incorporate them in DBA procedures
