    Accountability

    Conducts at minimum a yearly program audit to review the extent and quality of counseling program implementation.

    Qualifications

    Job Purpose
    SHOFCO is looking at promoting inclusivity in all its programs including the youth engagement project across 40 counties in Kenya. Promoting gender, equality, disability and social inclusion is critical in achieving effective, sustainable, contextually relevant and impactful programming. The Inclusion Officer will work with the youth engagement team to provide technical leadership across SHOFCO to ensure that gender, equity, disability and social integration is mainstreamed into all aspects of SHOFCO’s programming and its operations. The candidate will work with Head of the Gender Department to lead the integration of gender sensitive programming elements, mainstreaming efforts, inclusivity and youth social integration. The Inclusion Officer will participate in strategy and program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in relation to the integration of gender, disability, and social inclusion.
    Position Objectives and Responsibilities
    The candidate will be responsible for the following essential functions:

    Provide technical leadership to program teams to ensure that there is innovative and contextually relevant integration of gender, disability and social inclusion into SHOFCO’s workplans and programming across the Youth Engagement project.
    Design and deliver realistic strategies and programming interventions to ensure the promotion of gender equality, disability, young women’s empowerment and inclusion of under-represented groups of youth that will lead to positive gender equity and social inclusion outcomes, including by strengthening existing tools, frameworks, methodologies and resources.
    Work with the project team focal points to facilitate process for establishing and gathering inclusion best practices in order to learn from and strengthen activities and ensure that the values are incorporated into youth programming and planning.
    Assist the Program Heads, Field Teams and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Team to develop, track and report against gender and other inclusion indicators and disaggregate data by gender and the other inclusion parameters to analyze results.
    Assist the Program Teams in establishing and implementing inclusivity (gender sensitive, disability, social inclusion) sensitive monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting systems, processes across the programs.
    Design and conduct gender and social inclusion assessments, reviews and audits that can inform programming in a way that ensures young women and other under-represented youths are included in a meaningful way in SHOFCO Youth Engagement program.
    Design and provide trainings, as well as technical support and strategies to field program staff with respect to gender, disability and social inclusion activities.

    The Communications Officer will work closely with CAO to ensure funders and other key stakeholders view SHOFCO as the leading model for grassroots development.

    Job Purpose
    The Future Education department supports Class 8 graduates from the Kibera and Mathare School for girls in their high school and university journey.
    The Student Advisor will work hand-in-hand with high school students to ensure they are performing academically.
    He/she will put in place a tracking mechanism to track student progression and ensure issues can be identified, and develop interventions for those found to be struggling – including engaging parents.  He/she will guide students on subject selection in high school and course selection for university.
    Position Objectives and Responsibilities

    Lead the academic support provided to SHOFCO Primary School Graduates as they attend high schools throughout Kenya
    Evaluate current academic support given to Future Education, and design and implement a new structure moving forward to help increase success of students, including but not limited to:

    Collect and maintain a student database, including academic records, school contact information, etc.
    Monitor, follow up, and intervene with any students struggling academically or adjusting to high school life
    Connect academic issues that are steaming from behavioral issue, and help to put in place interventions and resolutions
    Meet with parents/guardians to discuss their children’s progress, and to determine the academic priorities and needs of their children
    Guide and counsel students with subject and course selection based on performance / interest
    Conduct high school visits when necessary – meeting with other teachers and administrators to understand challenges faced by the students
    Identify ways to support students with varying academic resources
