  • Public Schools Coordinator (PSC) Financial Inclusion Manager

    Job Overview

    The Public Schools Coordinator (PSC) will build and maintain strong partnerships with a designated cluster of partner public comprehensive schools (ECDE to Grade 9) In this role, you will provide coaching and administrative support to ensure seamless implementation of programs aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes.
    NB: Flexibility and adaptability are key as this is a new role. Responsibilities may evolve based on the program’s needs

    Reports to – Public Schools Partnerships Officer

    Work Pattern/Hours – Monday – Friday | 8.00 AM – 5.00PM

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    Managing Partnerships

    Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned partner schools, fostering strong relationships.
    Collaborate with Education Officers at sub-county level to ensure alignment and support for teaching and learning interventions.
    Coordinate and oversee activities and interventions to ensure successful execution.

    Training and Coaching of teachers 

    Support the facilitation of coaching to teachers to enhance their capacity and support professional growth.

     Support the design and facilitation of professional development workshops.
    Facilitate the establishment and oversee management of Professional Learning Communities at the school level.
    Facilitate change in schools by supporting teachers so they can model excellence in effective pedagogy and teacher development.
    Leverage digital tools for data collection, training, and coaching.
    Support the installation of ICT equipment in schools (Scheduling for lab installation, monitoring usage of devices)

    Parental Engagement and Learner clubs

    Collaborate with partner schools as they undertake parental engagement initiatives in their schools.
    Coordinate with the WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Libraries and Gender departments to establish and support WASH and ROC (Children’s Rights) Clubs in partner schools

    Assessment, Monitoring, and Reporting

    Participate in scheduled assessments for schools, teachers and learners to identify needs and support interventions.
    Track the progress of program activities, ensuring alignment with timelines and goals.
    Collaborate with the MEL team to ensure timely reporting and analysis of program outcomes at school level.
    Coordinate parental engagement meetings to support assigned partner schools.

    Administrative Support

    Organize logistics for professional development sessions, events including follow up calls and reminders to partner schools on trainings and coaching
    Follow up on purchase of training materials and other merchandize and monitor the timely delivery of resources
    Maintain accurate schedules and records of teachers in training, coaching sessions or other planned interventions.
    Support on-ground preparations for continuous professional Development sessions and other interventions.

    Education Qualifications

    Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
    At least 2 years of successful teaching experience.
    Proven experience facilitating professional development workshops.
    Strong communication and organizational skills.

    Preferred:

    Experience coaching teachers or leading professional learning initiatives will be an added advantage
    Training and Facilitation
    Familiarity with adult learning principles.
    Proficiency in using digital tools for training and data collection

    SHOFCO is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Child Protection and Gender Manager to lead on interventions addressing violations of children’s rights to protection from abuse, exploitation, violence and abuse.  The Senior Child Protection Manager will be responsible for ensuring that quality programs are implemented and capacities developed to provide these kinds of protection to children in SHOFCO areas of operations. This role will strengthen existing child protection and case management responses for vulnerable children and oversee, support the implementation of case management responses. The person will oversee managing a robust Adolescent girls & boys’ safe spaces programming in schools and communities in specified counties.

    Oversight:

    Develop a clear child protection/case management plan on identification of children in and out of school who are at risk of being harmed.
    Set up/strengthen Rights of children clubs/safe spaces in schools and communities together with the team, including training and awareness raising on child safety and linking children to available services.
    Take the initiative in developing an evidence-base, documenting lessons learnt, best practice and case studies to shape in-county strategies and program approaches, and contribute to broader learning within child protection and GBV response.
    To provide technical guidance to the Child Protection and Gender team in coordination with the Head of department on implementation of activities successfully.
    Support integration of Gender and child protection inventions with other sectors/intervention areas and establish strong collaboration with other programmes to enhance integration.

    Technical Quality:

    Provide technical and management leadership to the child protection case management programs, and the adolescent safe spaces programming in accordance with best practices and SHOFCO child protection policy.
    Ensure that solid CP case management, referral and information management systems are in place for appropriate identification, responses and follow-up for children harmed or at risk of being harmed, and that these processes are happening in a timely manner.
    Ensure the adolescent safe spaces programming are contextualized and supported with appropriate technical support.
    Develop and implement capacity building plans for all areas of child protection programming within the county.
    Ensure regular communication with the Project Director and Head of department and the Gender team to integrate appropriate technical priorities in program design, in order to provide updates on achievements and challenges
    Ensure quality programme delivery of the child protection interventions like the right to children clubs, case management, community level activities, etc.
    Build a strong movement of rights of children(ROC) clubs that is self sustainable and have capacity to cascade ROC with schools and in safe safes, and advocate for their own rights

    Staff Supervision & Development

    Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
    Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly reports, probations reviews and annual performance reviews.
    Assist with the recruitment of needed Child Protection and gender staff, in coordination with the Head of department.
    Ensure training, support and ongoing capacity building opportunities for staff on technical and project management skills.
    Mentorship and coaching to building the capacity of the Gender team

    Grant Planning & Implementation

    Supports implementation and ensures adherence to grant work plans, spending plans and monitoring and evaluation plans.
    Work closely and coordinates with, finance and grant staff to ensure timely and completion of program activities and expenditures; including active participation in grant opening/closing and review meetings.
    Ensure compliance to internal processes and procedures by the gender team to enhance compliance of all procurement, financial and branding guidelines.
    Develop and maintain effective and efficient oversight, support, quality control and reporting systems and processes.
    Ensure regular field monitoring and modifications as required.
    Monitor and consolidate information collected from weekly and staff activity reports
    Ensure high-quality donor reports on activities, indicators and achievements

    Partner Management

    Develop and maintain effective working relationships with child protection actors, government and children’s departments.
    Advocate with peer agencies, government and other stakeholders to promote timely and quality case management responses for children
    Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
    Regularly attend coordination group meetings at appropriate levels to contribute to the case management responses across agencies.

    Program Development

    Contributes to the development of the CP sector strategic direction for responding to children’s issues across the county
    Contribute to proposal development activities (narrative and budget) through planning and program design with relevant field-based staff and ensure technical standards are taken into consideration
    Coordinate with other actors, government ministries to receive and provide input and support regarding responses for children.
    Work with the existing community children’s structures to recruit children promoters, champions within the children officers to oversee and respond to children issues in the communities.

    Work with SHOFCO MEL team in data analysis and information dissemination to the appropriate coordinating mechanisms, field teams and beneficiaries.

    Academic Qualifications

    Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in implementing child protection and Gender programs, preferable social work or case management, in humanitarian or informal development settings.
    Bachelors Degree in Social science or Social work, human rights, Gender studies or related degree desired
    Master’s degree in Gender studies, Social sciences, or comparable professional experience

    Professional Qualifications

    Any training certification relevant to the role

    Other requirements

    Experience in managing complex large projects with ambitious targets
    Previous experience supervising and managing a team in a cross-cultural setting
    Demonstrated understanding of working with children from diverse cultures and environments.
    Demonstrated experience in capacity building and mentoring of staff members.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
