Reuters News Pictures is looking for a Senior Photographer based in Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for shooting first class news, business and sports pictures as part of a multi-media team in one of the most competitive markets in the world.
Already a recognised player on the global stage of news and photography, the successful candidate will boast a full portfolio of award-winning news and business pictures in addition to a proven track record of winning the big stories.
The successful candidate will have experience working in hostile environments and in conflict zones.
Working closely with text and TV, planning for stories, pro-actively hunting out news and working on in-depth Wider Image stories to supply our diverse client base will be a pre-requisite and he/she must also have excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate will have a global understanding of the business needs of Reuters News Pictures and will be able to adapt to the demands of this fast-changing industry.
The successful candidate will also be fully conversant with all technical aspects of digital photography, picture editing and processing systems and must be able to transmit a picture from anywhere in the world.
The successful applicant, who will be based in Nairobi, could be sent on assignment anywhere in the world at a minute’s notice and must be ready to travel both locally and internationally.
From time to time you will be expected handle the file from other photographers in the region and will therefore need good editing skills as well as excellent spoken and written English with attention to detail

Key Skills And Experience
An exceptional self-starter with 2+ years of work experience, and a passion for social change.
Top-performing undergraduate background in the field of policy, development, or social change.
Proven organisational and project management ability and experience of managing competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
Experience (paid or unpaid) in policy / social / not for profit sector.
An understanding of the challenges and opportunities that NGOs and social enterprises face around the world.
An exceptional communicator and writer with public speaking experience.
Ambition, dynamism and creativity.
Experience in Salesforce would be favourable.

ROLE PURPOSE

Reuters Video News is looking for an experienced editor and visual journalist to run our Africa Daily service.
We want a strong team leader who is also a great team player. She or He will be an accomplished news editor and storyteller with plenty of initiative and original ideas.
The Senior Producer role for Africa Daily presents an exciting opportunity to bring stories from the world’s fastest growing continent to a wider audience. The successful candidate will have good insight and understanding of the news agenda in Africa in its widest sense – from politics to sport to entertainment, culture and new business.
The video news industry is going through a period of significant change, driven by the rapidly changing habits of news consumers and ever-changing technology. We need someone who will be customer focused, able to tailor content for Reuters clients in the growing digital sector as well as existing broadcast news customers.
Reuters Africa Daily in its present form delivers up to 20 stories per week from the continent. The segment provides the core content for Reuters Africa Journal, a new service that is produced in London and delivers ready to publish video stories from and about Africa to digital and broadcast news publishers.
The Senior Producer role is collaborative, and you will be expected to work with Reuters newsgathering teams in Africa and producers working on Africa Journal based in London. You will be a good communicator, capable of guiding and mentoring colleagues and other contributors.
Essential Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesPlan, pitch and assign stories for Africa Daily. Meet tight deadlines and take an active role on news planning.
Edit and produce video stories for Africa Daily.
Coordinate multimedia coverage with newsgathering teams in Africa and the Reuters Africa Journal desk in London.
