    Responsibilities
    Within delegated authority, the Associate Administrative Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

    Human Resource Management

    Work experience in the United Nations is desirable.
    Work experience with Global Environment Facility (GEF) projects is also desirable.

    Assist in analyzing and visualizing project data, including the mapping of project presence, and maintain the intranet and programmatic websites;
    Undertake research on current and emerging trends and prepare analytical summaries that can support strategic planning and implementation of the UN Environment
    Medium-Term Strategy and the biennial Programmes of Work;
    Contribute to proof editing of drafts and selected policy inputs, such as success stories and lessons learnt, draft background papers, analytical notes, websites and social media networks, etc.
    Provide administrative and meeting support to the coordination functions in the Resource Efficiency programme;
    Analyze reports, survey results and briefs to extract key messages and develop summaries.
    Assist with the organization of meetings, workshops seminars, webinars and other similar activities, supporting with the preparation of agendas, co-drafting background materials, meeting reports, assist with ad hoc meetings and prepare meeting minutes if required.

    Education

    Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

    be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher in the courses listed below)
    be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent in the courses listed below); or
    have graduated with a university degree (in the courses as defined below) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
    have or is undertaking the following courses:- Environmental Science, Climate Change, International Development, Project Development, International Studies and Economics or related courses

    Be computer literate in standard software applications;
    Have a demonstrated and keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
    Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

    Work Experience
    Applicants are not required to have professional work experience to participate in the programme. However, experience in research and writing documents related to environmental issues is desirable.
    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required.
    Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
