    Within delegated authority, under the supervision of the Chief, Human Resources Section and Administrative Officer in charge of the Specialist Support Unit, the Training Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
    Responsibilities

    GENERAL

    Provides advice and support to managers and staff on learning and development related matters.

    LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

    Coordinates with the Human Resources Management Services (HRMS) of the UN Office at Nairobi (UNON) in planning for training for UNEP staff.     Participate in planning meetings and preparation for the Medium Term Strategy – UNEP Digital Transformation; review literature and identify priority areas and key performance indicators for Corporate Services Division.
    Manage enhancements to the Corporate Services Division’s Corporate Academy; design additional Academies/Courses aligned to the organizations learning and development needs.
    Contributes to the design, development, delivery and evaluation of training, learning and development programmes for staff; These programmes encompass a range of activities including, inter alia, training courses, technical and substantive training, leadership and management training and organizational development courses.
    Coordinates and develops learning support mechanisms and activities to build capacity of staff.
    Provides advisory services to ensure that training and development meets current needs and anticipates to the extent possible future needs; Develops tools and participates in the assessment of training needs, collection and collation of required inputs and preparation of relevant reports.
    Performs other related work as required.

    OTHER DUTIES

    Supports the implementation of the Secretary General’s Gender Parity Strategy and contributing to the delivery, monitoring the established timelines and quarterly reporting.
    Design and contribute towards a skills gap mapping exercise, providing analysis and reporting on bottlenecks in reaching the 50-50 gender target; contribute content to briefing and outreach sessions;

    The position of Media Officer is in the Media Unit, which is in the Digital Section of the Communication Division. It is located at UNEP’s global headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Under the overall guidance of Chief of the Digital Section, and direct supervision of the head of the Media Unit, the incumbent will carry out the following duties:
    Responsibilities
    Ensures implementation of UNEP’s media engagement strategies to publicize priority environmental issues and/or major events. This will include the development of media strategies, coordinating efforts, monitoring and reporting on progress, taking appropriate follow-up action, and analyzing the outcome. Monitors and analyzes current events related to the environment, public opinion and press, identifies issues and trends, and advises management on appropriate action/responses. Initiates and sustains professional relationships with media worldwide. Acts as focal point on issues related to the media, monitoring and reporting on developments, responding to inquiries, etc. Provides guidance to, and may supervise, more junior staff, consultants, UN Volunteers and/or interns.     Responsibilities

    Manage and/or provide substantive contributions to project-level evaluations conducted by the Evaluation Office. The incumbent will, as specified by the Director, Evaluation Office, play a supporting role in higher level evaluations such as:

    Identify consultants, review credentials and make recommendations for the selection of qualified consultants to conduct evaluations:

    Oversee the work of project-level evaluation consultants: provide advice on the overall evaluation approach; review and assess the quality of evaluation deliverables and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their finalisation.
    Make presentations and undertake other activities to promote the uptake of evaluation findings across project-level evaluation stakeholders.
    Ensure that evaluation recommendations are communicated to the relevant officers for implementation, with suggestions for preparing an Implementation Plan and follow-up action for future programming.
    Monitor compliance levels for the implementation of evaluation recommendations, and oversee the preparation of recommendation compliance reports submitted every six months to the Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director of UNEP.

    Provide contributions to the Biennial Evaluation Synthesis Report, periodic evaluation progress reports and Evaluation Office Management Studies as requested by the Director of the Evaluation Office.

    This post is located in UNEP’s Ecosystems Division, at the Nairobi duty station. The Coordinator will oversee the work of a small core team in FAO and UNEP, which manages the implementation of the core activities of FAO and UNEP as co-lead agencies of the Decade. She/he will also manage the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for the UN Decade, based on decisions of the Executive Board of the Fund.     Environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
    This post is located in UNEP’s Corporate Services Division, Enterprise Solutions Section at the Nairobi duty Station.     Participate in missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.;

    Administrative and Substantive Support:

    Provide administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences and side events related to projects facilitating implementation of multilateral environmental agreements, to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposing participants, preparing background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.;
    Liaise with Fund Management Officer to ensure direct payments and advance requests to executing partners and prepare project budget revisions as necessary;
    Liaise with project partners on a day to day basis for implementation of project activities and advise Project Manager on the status of implementation;
    Perform other related administrative duties as required, eg, operational travel programme, monitoring accounts and payments to vendors and individual contractors, etc.);
    Provide back-up to other implemented projects in the Division as required.
