    Responsibilities

    This position is located in the UNEP Digital Transformations Unit at the Nairobi duty station. Within the UNEP regional office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

    Translate organizational needs into analytics and reporting requirements to support decisions, strategies and workflows with data and information, including from UNEP’s World Environment Situation Room and other relevant data platforms.

    Deliver analysis to UN Country Teams and Common Country Assessments (CCAs) on environmental trends and opportunities to harness digital technologies for environmental sustainability.
    Liaise with digital stakeholders in the region to understand environmental needs and receive feedback on UNEP data platforms and related digital products and services.
    Deliver trainings on data, digital technologies and related innovations linked to environmental sustainability.
    Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.

    Education

    Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, information management, public administration, management or a related field is required. Additional university level training in environmental science is desirable. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. ‘
    Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, project management, stakeholder management or related area is required.
    Experience in using data to advance decisions, strategies and execution with regard to environmental sustainability is required.
    Experience with self-service analytics and data visualization applications (MS PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau or similar), or business intelligence tools (SAP Business Objects, etc.) is required
    Experience in tools managing version control such as Git is desirable.
    Experience with database or programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is desirable.
    Experience with Geographic Information Systems and related software packages (ARC GIS, QGIS) is desirable.

    Maintain a positive relationship with stakeholders, ensuring that the project review process is as participatory as possible but at the same time maintains its independence.
    Communicate in a timely manner with the UNEP Climate Change Mitigation Office on any issues requiring its attention and intervention.
    The review consultant will be selected and recruited by the UNEP Climate Change Mitigation Office through an individual Special Service Agreement (SSA) consultancy contract.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Advanced university degree (i.e. master’s degree or higher) in management, business administration, economics, engineering, energy or other relevant area with five years’ experience is required. A first level degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience maybe accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree
    Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on technical aspects of development projects in the environmental / climate change sector in Africa is required;

    Research on Agri-Food initiatives in UNEP TEEB partner countries in consultation with UNEP TEEB Communications Specialist
    Production of video (script writing, videography, editing, audio balancing, sub-titling, format exporting, archiving raw and edited work etc.) according to UNEP standards. All videos produced must be of the highest quality to adequately represent the organization. The optimal standards are: 1080 25p/1080 29.97p or 30p. All material should be shot in 16:9, HD 1080. The consultant shall use his/her own HD quality video camera, sound equipment and professional editing software
    Edit the footage in line with the script agreed and approved by UNEP TEEB focal person and produce a professional quality package / report / PSA of broadcast quality
    Record and edit narration / voice over where needed in according with guidance from relevant UNEP TEEB focal person
    Embed sub-titles in the video as per need
    Audio balance the final product and convert it in formats for use on TV, radio, web
    Clearly identify location, name and age of interviewees, quotes and any relevant details
    Include appropriate UNEP TEEB branding and visual standards, crediting of UNEP TEEB ownership for the produced videos
    Archive the edited output in DV and DVD format along with professional log.

    Qualifications/special Skills

    Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in Videography, Multimedia, Environmental Studies or related areas is required.     Tasks and Responsibilities:
    Together with the team, the Consultant will work with the video gaming industry through the Playing for the Planet Alliance to meet the following objectives:
    Green Game Jam: With other others, work to design the outreach / collaboration plans for the Green Game Jam with the 40+ partners in advance of the jam launch for 2023. This would be a priority for the first period of 2023 and include:

    Qualifications/special skills
