Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR – Africa Region, the Manager, Talent Acquisition is responsible for planning, developing, managing and overseeing talent acquisition processes and strategies with a focus on East and Southern Africa.  This includes succession planning, sourcing, candidate screening, background checks, legal compliance, on-boarding and metrics reporting. The incumbent will work with team leads and in country HR generalists to identify hiring needs, position Evidence Action as an employer of choice and execute top-in- class recruitment strategies to attract, select & place high caliber talent to support organization goals.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Working closely with in-country HR reps, oversee management of full cycle recruitment and placement needs
    Contribute to the development of a sustainable talent acquisition strategy for the Africa Region
    Liaise with hiring managers to determine hiring needs for open positions.
    Lead and manage the sourcing of qualified and suitable candidates for open positions.
    Design, plan and execute selection processes (conduct interviews and screening calls, design and administer assessments).
    In consultation with hiring managers, develop suitable salary packages and negotiate offers with candidates.
    Create and maintain active candidate pools to reduce hiring lead times – foster long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates.
    Use HRIS and Recruitment Marketing tools to develop strategies to maintain a talent pipeline.
    Maintain knowledge of recruitment trends, best practices, regulatory changes and related employment laws, and new technologies in HR talent management.
    Develop KPIs for talent acquisition to maintain standards and prepare a periodic reports for regional leadership
    In liaison with Africa Regional Leadership, create & manage a sustainable employer brand
    Managing sourcing platforms e.g. LinkedIn, Glassdoor, BambooHR
    Managing candidate experience throughout the recruitment cycle
    Work with line managers to review job descriptions (on hiring) and update existing job descriptions to match current roles and responsibilities
    Spearhead skills mapping process for the region
    Provide guidance and forecasting for future hiring needs

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field – additional HR qualification will be an added advantage
    Minimum 5 years progressive experience as a talent acquisition specialist
    Demonstrable experience in crafting recruitment and sourcing strategies in a multi -country, multi-cultural context 
    In-depth knowledge of full-cycle recruiting and employer branding techniques.
    Experience with HRIS, Applicant Tracking System, Sourcing and Recruitment Marketing tools.

    About the Position
    The Accelerator is working to identify, research, design, and scale Evidence Action’s next generation of flagship programs. We are investigating multiple program areas to identify health or health-adjacent interventions that have a strong evidence-base, are cost-effective, and have a large potential to scale. Areas being researched include: Kangaroo Mother Care, ORS and zinc to prevent diarrheal mortality, intermittent preventive treatment for malaria, in-line water chlorination, early initiation of breastfeeding, among others.
    We are seeking a dynamic, highly entrepreneurial Analyst who can research, design and manage the launch of high-quality new programs, while relentlessly measuring and assessing whether the programs are having the desired impact. S/he will have strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities and be adept with quantitative analysis. S/he will bring superb interpersonal skills and work collaboratively and effectively with Evidence Action team members across the organization as well as external partners and country governments.
    Duties & Responsibilities

    Research new programs, design and manage program implementation and associated field-testing activities.
    Manage early stage field activities, program scoping, and piloting of new programs in select countries throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and within Kenya. For example:

    Coordinate the prototyping of in-line chlorination devices and program design in Kenya.
    Assist in the regional scoping and possible expansion of the Accelerator’s iron and folic acid supplementation program.

    Design and manage program work plans, including the coordination of diverse staff in separate time zones and departments within the organization.
    Lead operational efforts necessary to design and launch program implementation, including budget design and management, drafting statements of work and memorandums of understanding, product procurement, and IRB procedures.
    Coordinate activities between Evidence Action and local implementing partners throughout different stages of new programs, including local permissions, compliance, and reporting.
    Map donor landscapes and identify funding streams for new programs.
    Work with cost-effectiveness and MLE staff to design, develop, and refine cost-effectiveness models, monitoring frameworks, and theories of change.
    Rapidly assess the potential of new programs by analyzing the total addressable market, cost-effectiveness, evidence-base, strategic fit, and funding availabilities of promising interventions.
    Conduct desk-based research and literature reviews to inform organizational  decisions on key intervention areas.
    Coordinate stakeholders and manage work flow to efficiently and simultaneous drive multiple programs through the Accelerator development process.
    Conduct stakeholder outreach (study authors, implementers, other development partners) to solicit feedback on new programs, their design, key gaps, and whether there is interest in collaborating with Evidence Action.
    Develop and nurture mutually beneficial relationships with partner organizations (e.g., implementing organizations, government officials, academic researchers).
    Lead and participate in high-stakes meetings; present the business case for potential programs to government stakeholders.

    Duties and responsibilities

In total, through the indicated direct reports, this position will be responsible for 150 staff spread across 3 countries.

    Duties and responsibilities
    This position will focus on 3 areas—lead Dispensers for Safe Water operations (~70% LoE), oversee regional cross-program policy and partnership (~20% LoE), and support global program development (~10% LoE)—as described below.
    Dispenser for Safe Water

    Operation oversight: Directly manage operations of the DSW program in Kenya, Uganda and Malawi, including ensuring outstanding program performance, ie maintaining high community adoption of the program, dispenser functionality, etc.

    The Deputy Director may take on other responsibilities related to organizational priorities, in consultation with Evidence Action leadership and as time allocations permit.

     Qualifications

    6+ years of experience, preferably in management consulting or development program management, including track record of high-level relationship management.
    Exceptional people management skills, inclusive of internal and external stakeholders; able to work effectively in a “matrixed” environment.
    Ability to set and implement a strategic vision for a large program and/or organization.
    Strong belief in the importance of evidence-based decision making.
    Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s degree in economics, international relations, public health or related field from a recognized University strongly preferred.
    Experienced and comfortable working collaboratively across teams and cultures, including with senior representatives of major foundations and international organizations.
    Strong, persuasive written and oral communication skills, including experience with public speaking. 
    Experience living and working in developing countries preferred.
    Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (estimated at 10-15% of working time)
    Passionate about social impact and experience in social enterprise, entrepreneurial nonprofit, or start-up environment.

    Job Summary
    The Office Assistant is majorly responsible for office organization, service to the office teams/visitors and the management of office supplies. DSW relies on the Office Assistant to ensure that the office and its environment is a conducive space for working and the staff wellness is catered for.
    Responsibilities
    Office Organization and cleanness

    Open office on time and ensure secure closure at the end of the day, ensuring safe custody of all office keys.
    Keep the office and chlorine stores and the surroundings clean and tidy at all times.
    Ensure the office compound is healthy and conducive for staff
    Service to office teams
    Prepare and serve tea to staff on time on a daily basis.
    Support on office errands such as small items purchases, printing/scanning & photocopies, etc.
    Collection and delivery of office parcels, quotations, invoices, parcels etc.
    Management of office supplies
    Responsible for office kitchen and sanitation supplies inventory, monitor and maintain/control usage, and ensure a timely requisition for new supplies as needed
    Ensure all kitchen utensils, equipment and cleaning tools are well maintained and serviceable. Ensure timely reporting of any damages for repairs.
    Other general tasks
    Receive client/visitors and usher/refer them to the correct contact person or staff while maintaining organization image.
    Support with updating chlorine and dispenser parts inventory and regular stock checking and monthly stock reconciliations.
    Help/oversee the movement of office furniture, loading/offloading chlorine refills/dispenser parts, etc.
    Organizing and filing hard copy data and maintaining a well-organized data filing and storage system at the office.
    Support in event planning and coordination as necessary, arrange for refreshments, food and other necessary materials
    Support with other program fieldwork as may be necessary.
    Any other duties/tasks assigned by supervisor or management.
