    Regional Manager Job Responsibilities
    Regional management, coordination and well being of cooperatives will be your key deliverable
    Responsible for implementing all cooperative strategies as directed by Country Director
    Cooperatives should have functional revolving funds
    Ensure Cooperatives have at least 100% loan repayment
    Institute functional sub committees in all cooperatives
    Provide advice to the BOD of cooperatives to ensure that they are able to execute their mandates well
    Train and mentor all cooperatives staff to ensure that they are competent in delivering services to members of the cooperatives; managing Cooperative Managers directly
    Work with BOD to enhance loan repayment to required percentage which is 100%. This will ensure that the revolving fund for cooperatives is effective
    Work with the BOD to ensure coordination of all phases of the business so that they support each other. The use of physical and financial assets and personnel activities must be integrated to accomplish predetermined goals and objectives- the key being making the co-operative profitable within a short period
    Ensure Cooperatives portfolio increases by a minimum of 50% for long rain season
    Facilitate the BOD members in Collecting information concerning business alternatives, synthesizing the information, and evaluating it for decision making
    To ensure the Co-op Managers coordinate contact of the co-operatives with external stakeholders such as
    County and National governments, development organizations, business groups and the general public
    Be the principal liaison between the co-operatives and Nuru International Kenya ensuring Nuru Kenya Impact programs have coordinated work plans.
    Assist in management of aggregation, buying, storing, and selling operations and staff during harvest and buying season
    Research and explore funding and investment opportunities for improving or expanding Nuru’s market linkage operations
    Inform Nuru Kenya and organized farmers on cooperative establishment in Kenya including topics such as laws and policies, best practices, registration procedures, etc.
    Coordinate trainings for rural cooperative capacity-building; including cooperative management, staffing plans, democratic leadership and cooperative business plan development
    Help Nuru Kenya and cooperative societies in setting up and maintaining accounting and record keeping systems with strong financial controls
    Execute financial models that appropriately balance farmer welfare and organizational sustainability for Nuru Kenya’s market linkage and agricultural loan initiatives
    Liaise with government cooperative development and marketing offices and resolve any policy and administrative issues that may arise
    Any other duty as may be assigned by your supervisor
    Requirements for the Regional Manager Job
    Degree in Cooperative Management, with experience/knowledge in Agribusiness Management.
    5-6 years of experience in operations, management and/or development of agricultural cooperative societies
    Strong quantitative skills; specifically demonstrated ability to create and execute financial models and business plans
    Experience with agribusiness/cereal markets/dairy markets in Kenya
    Detailed understanding of challenges facing small scale farmers, grain/agricultural produce markets and cooperatives in Kenya
    Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office suits
    Working Conditions:
    Work will be performed mainly in the field with expected 90% presence in the field. You will spend about 10% of your work week in the office to plan, meet with team and perform other office related duties.
    Some work is also expected from the computer or other devises at home after work or over the weekend during busier seasons.

    About the Job: We are looking for a highly qualified, experienced and passionate candidate to fill the position of Dairy Manager.
     
    Reporting to the Agriculture Program Manager, the position holder will develop and manage Nuru’s dairy strategy to the extent that farmers and cooperative’s realize a return on investment from the project.
     
    The Dairy Manager will be in charge of the technical aspect of the project and day to day supervision of the program field operations.
     
    S/he will manage the implementation of all dairy related activities including developing capacity of farmers to effectively and efficiently invest in the project.
    Specific Responsibilities:
    Develop and manage Nuru Kenya’s dairy strategy by delivering on outputs and outcomes based on the implementation document.
    Establish dairy program in Nuru’s cooperatives in a scalable and sustainable way
    Working in close collaboration with other staff in cooperatives to contribute towards the overall effective delivery of outputs and outcomes among the cooperatives
    Collaborate closely with the Regional Managers in the implementation of dairy business activities to include timely execution of the plans and delivery on all targeted activities, development and tracking of project budget requirements
    Conduct research on best practices in the dairy industry and advise on the most efficient and effective implementation strategies
    Work with the team to establish business development needs of the dairy cooperatives by identifying dairy based priority areas of involvement and develop implementation strategies
    Develop, review and manage the implementation of the dairy training curriculum and ensure that there is follow-up to inform on compliance
    Develop effective and strong working relationships with livestock officials of the county government, community leaders and Cooperative’s Board of Directors to identify areas of collaboration in the field
    Offer professional advice to cooperative’s leadership and or farmers on various value chain options available in dairy management to ensure that there is return on investment (ROI)
    Monitor the implementation progress and periodically report all dairy activities to the supervisor based on the agreed upon reporting format
    Maintain 90% presence in the field to ensure that there is effective implementation of dairy trainings
    Manage dairy team and other staff assigned to you competently and ensure that they are able to effectively perform their roles
    Report directly to the Agriculture Program Manager
    Any other duties as shall be assigned to you by your supervisor.
    Requirements for the Position:
    Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Production, or Animal Production & Health management
    Technical & Field experience of between 3-5 years working on a dairy program or with farmer owned organizations 2 of which must have been at a similar or related role
    Proven experience managing dairy related value chains to maximize profits
    Strong project management skills.
    Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
    Ability to generate innovative solutions in work situations

    Over three years’ experience in sales & marketing;
    Excellent verbal/written skills, with ability to read product labels, SKU and product numbers;
    Skills in organization, time management, prioritization, attention to detail and be able to multitask and adapt to organizational and operational needs;
    Physical requirements include ability to perform repetitive bending, lifting, twisting, standing, walking, kneeling during the work day;
    ability to lift and carry products cases
