Supply Chain Planner Logistics Manager

Job Purpose:
As supply chain planner, responsibilities include both demand management and inventory planning of all product lines, raw and packaging materials. The planner ensures an adequate supply of product to service customer needs while minimizing working inventory investment by assessing demand activity. The planner will reflect demand changes in our planning systems to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs and ensure accuracy in inventory records, material usage history, and forecasting files.
Responsibilities (Functions and Duties)
1. Responsible for end-to-end planning of inventory from purchase requisition to customer invoice
2. Develop production and inventory management plans to support sales and promotions
3. Facilitate meetings with sales teams to valid forecasts over and above core business sales.
4. Conduct root case analysis when necessary
5. Identify current and potential product shortages, develop and execute recovery, advise stakeholders of status and recovery plans.
6. Constant interaction with sales and assessment of demand requirements. Reflect changes in SKU level forecasts.
7. Coordinate SKU level unit forecasts with agreed to Product Category revenue expectations.
8. Achieve consensus on operating plans and inventory goals.
9. Provide reports and requested information to management as needed.
10. Develop systems and procedures required to meet service and inventory turn objectives.
11. Maintenance and daily management of the MRP – SAP B1
12. Schedule production for specified products and production lines, understanding all physical and crewing constraints on the lines planned.
13. Monitor factory performance, challenging and understanding where performance is different from what was expected.
14. Monitor stock cover daily, avoiding stock outs and overstocks where possible, raising these at the Daily Operations Review meeting.
15. Monitor the daily availability of materials (packaging & raw), challenging as necessary when materials are not available as required.
16. Capacity balancing of products across lines, using APS set up to ensure lines are not overloaded. If balance cannot be achieved with the constraints of production/crewing, raise this at the Sales & Operations Planning Meeting.
17. Ensure run rates, inventory targets, batch quantities, changeover times and other data key to planning accuracy are regularly reviewed and maintained correctly in appropriate systems.
18. Understand forecasts for specified products, monitor accuracy and challenge where necessary.
19. Ensure all plans are feasible in terms of material supply, notify relevant stakeholders of potential material shortfalls.
20. Liaise with the commercial team on day to day scheduling/stock issues.
21. Coordinate product launches effectively to eliminate unnecessary line downtime and packaging/material waste.
22. Ensure a complete and comprehensive Master Production Schedule is generated at the required intervals.
23. Ensure required reports and KPIs are generated at the necessary frequency, monitored and utilized correctly to ensure improvement actions are generated and completed.
24. Manage the monitoring of finished goods and highlight any potential write off in line with departmental procedures for a planning/commercial decision to be made to minimize impact
25. Take an active part in the continuous improvement of all operations.
26. Deliver on the implementation of HMW-World Class Operations.
Performance Measures and Targets:
· Optimize line efficiency through effective scheduling
· >97% forecast accuracy
· Fixed plan (within specified time periods by product type)
· 100% feasible plan with respect to production constraints and material supply
· Supplier Performance – OTIF
· Inventory days as well as Inventory Turns – Working capital investment on different inventory classes.

Experience:
1. Minimum of 6years experience in FMCG sector in a busy food or beverage manufacturing firm.
2. Minimum 4 years in a warehousing, logistics, supply chain or similar environment.
3. Substantial previous experience in a complex environment, working with multiple stakeholders.
4. The role is primarily analytical but also requires strong problem-solving ability and good decision making in a fast-paced environment.
5. It also requires strong internal relationship management with cross­-functional activities spanning the finance, sales & marketing, logistics, production and inventory teams.
6. Computer literate – preferably SAP Business 1 (ERP) and application packages.
Qualifications:
Academic:
· Bachelor degree in Supply Chain or equivalent education and experience.
· 3 – 4 year’s experience in product planning and/ or supply chain.
Professional:
· ERP system experience preferred
· APICS CPIM/CSCP, CPSM certification completed or in progress, preferred
· Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and application
· Trained in Six Sigma; yellow or green belt.
Specialist knowledge required:
· Good understanding of Supply Chain Metrics
· Oracle application experience preferred.
· Hardworking, action-oriented, and results driven.
· Proficiency in MS Office suite. Intermediate/Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, hlookups)
· Willingness to cooperate and accept added responsibilities.
· Good understanding of Master Data and Databases
· Experience in process improvement initiatives
· Inventory leadership.
· Commercial acumen.
