SOLARKIOSK was founded in 2011 in Berlin, Germany and the first E-HUBB was successfully deployed in Ethiopia in 2012. Since then, SOLARKIOSK has established six country subsidiaries and is involved with projects on three continents. By the end of 2015, SOLARKIOSK had deployed over 100 E-HUBBs worldwide.
The modular E-HUBB technology and the SOLARKIOSK business model have been honored with numerous prestigious awards, amongst them the German Federal Design Award, Ecodesign Award of the German Federal Environmental Ministry, Empowering People Award by Siemens Stiftung, International Architecture Award by the Chicago Athenaeum, and the Carl-Duisberg-Society Prize for Entrepreneurship.
