Job summary:
Reporting to the Duty Manager, the Products Executive is responsible for designing, developing and update dynamically, catalogues of products for East Africa destination (Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Uganda & Rwanda).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Designing and Preparation of Kobo East Africa product manuals on an annual basis
Development of programmes (regular & private set itineraries and routes)
Setting of tariffs (for city and coast Hotels, transfers, excursions, flights, festive seasons supplements);
Generation of up-market programmes;
Development of the Great Lakes programs (Uganda & Rwanda);
Putting together special offers in conjunction with suppliers and to promote business during low season;
Specific brochure programme requests;
Updating and maintaining the annual quote sheets (Excel & Gran IT);
Contracting for rates from suppliers in association with the Kobo Management;
Comparisons of contracts (year-to-year, unit-to-unit);
Continuous enlightening and interaction with all other Company departments and external agents on Company product and new developments;
Conducting market survey (eg. hotels and destination inspections and reports on same);
Maintaining records of the group products, in association with the Sales and Marketing Department;
Developing and maintaining marketing tools for Kobo Group
Sourcing for new products in the market;
Minimum skills and competencies required for this position are as follows:
Degree in Tourism Management or Marketing
Atleast five (5) years exposure in tourism product development in the East Africa region.
Excellent knowledge of the East Africa Tourist Product;
Excellent understanding of product cost structures in order to be able to develop tariffs based on various profitability models;
Good communication and presentation skills to be able to brief staff on new products, changes in products and new circuits;
Strong organizational skills to be able to balance time requirements and produce programmes and tariffs on time;
Strong analytical skills;
Computer literacy, specifically in MS-Office, GranIT, and spreadsheet packages;
Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines;
Ability to work with no supervision;
