Head of Corporate Credit Risk Analysis

Job Purpose:
Head Corporate Credit Risk Analysis at Equity Bank Limited (K) will serve as the Head of Corporate Credit Risk analysis .The purpose of the job is to enhance the quality of the loan portfolio within Corporate Lending. The holder of the position will be the custodian of the Banks Corporate Credit risk processes, procedures and activities with the objective of providing leadership, direction, preserving and enhancing the Banks risk capital and financial sustainability in line with the corporate Goals and Objectives. He/she will also be the liaison technical person of the department with subsidiaries and other stakeholders within the Equity Bank group.
REPORTING
Reports to the Director Credit Risk
ROLES AND RESPONBILITY:
Credit Risk Analysis leadership
Overall in charge of ensuring Facilities approved are within the Bank’s lending policies and procedures and where there are breaches of policy, there is adequate identification and mitigation
Participating in Credit Committee (EXCO-Credit & COCTC) meetings and offering technical advice
Making Presentation on Corporate Proposals to the Board Credit Committee and Corporate Strategic Advisory Committee in regard to risk issues identified in the transactions and the recommended mitigating strategies
Reviewing of offer letters for Facilities approved by the Board Credit Committee and ensuring that the conditions of sanctions that binds the Borrower have been captured correctly.
Ensuring Turn-Around-Times (TATs) as per agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for assessment of Credit Applications referred to Corporate Credit Risk section from Branches, Corporate Credit, Treasury/Trade Finance Departments and Subsidiaries (Bank and Non-Bank).
Monitor legal and regulatory developments that impact risk and lending processes and ensure the Bank is in compliance with local and international (where applicable) regulatory requirements.
Monitor local, national and international economic and/or political indicators as they affect lending decisions/processes.
Review and recommend modification of credit policy and procedures in line with current needs, changing market
Research and obtain sufficient and appropriate information for evaluating business risk
Develop a Frame work to continuously monitor the performance of the Corporate transactions , identify early warning signs propose a corrective action /way forward and advise the Director Credit risk / EXCO/BCC on the recommended way forward 
Ensuring compliance with Bank Loan policies
Ensuring implementation of effective controls over the credit process to ensure a robust control environment.
Ensure policy breaches/ exemptions are properly authorized at the correct level.
Proactively review credit facilities/risks and advise Director Credit on the findings
Proactively improve the Bank’s credit portfolio through continuous and never ending improvement.
D) Staffing
Provide leadership, coaching and support through participating in the setting of objectives, managing performance, identifying development needs and motivating the credit risk team.
Continuously develop staff by providing feedback and relevant training to improve productivity and efficiency. 
E) Customer Service
i) Work with other units to ensure good customer service while maintaining appropriate risk Management culture in the Bank.
ii) Provide technical advice or other assistance to all stakeholders in the Bank as needed.

Knowledge of the Banking products, services, policies and or any other specialist knowledge
required to undertake the role.
An in-depth knowledge of the bank’s products relating to all credit products
Excellent understanding of lending framework locally and internationally
A good knowledge of CBK’s prudential guidelines as pertains to lending.
Excellent knowledge of general banking procedures and policies as well as regulations.
In-depth understanding of business environment and financial markets
A good knowledge of the Banking operating procedures and approval process
A general knowledge and awareness of the current business trends and practices
A general knowledge of the Bank’s vision and focus especially in relation to Business
development and Management of risks
EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prefer a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, finance or accounting. Professional Banking or Accountancy not limited to AKIB/ACIB CPA, ACCA or CFA will be an added advantage
At least 15 years of Credit experience of which 5 must be at credit Corporate risk analysis
High data rationality, detail consciousness with high analytical and numerical skills
Ability to interpret financial and legal documents.
Good computer skills
