For the past 10 years, The Rotary Foundation has been working to continuously expand its fundraising efforts. It is therefore looking for a Fundraising Independent Contractor to assist its Senior Fundraising Advisor in the development and implementation of fundraising strategies in the assigned region. Although the role is based in Nairobi, the successful candidate will be accountable for Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. They will be required to work with volunteers and the Senior Fundraising Advisor to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors.

Detailed Responsibilities
Relationship Management
Build relationships with existing Rotary volunteers in order to work collaboratively on the objectives for the region
Get to know the potential and existing donors with the capacity to make gifts of $10,000 or more
Host and attend events to create awareness of the Rotary foundation, its projects and means of supporting its mission
Respond to queries and requests from various stakeholders such donors and volunteers
Regional Management
Assist in defining and implementing a fund development plan for the assigned region This plan will need to enhance the annual fund as well as the major and planned giving efforts
Play a crucial role in shaping the future fundraising direction in the region by providing input on what is and isn’t working
Train volunteer committees on fund development related matters at Rotary Institutes, district events and other Rotary meetings as assigned
Ensure that all legal and administration tasks for the region are completed accurately and timely

2 – 4 years’ similar work experience
Currently residing in Nairobi, Kenya
Experience in fundraising development, training or sales with a large or international organisation
Experience living, working or studying in a multinational environment
High emotional intelligence, challenges boundaries and delivery focused
Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, interpersonal and programme management skills
Willing to travel, including weekends, within the assigned region
Meet the visa qualification criteria for countries such as USA, South Africa and Zurich. This is because occasional travel to Rotary International Europe Africa Office in Zurich, Switzerland and Rotary International World Headquarters in Evanston, IL, USA will be required
Proficiency in the use of computer analytical tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, databases and “Raiser’s Edge” software (preferred). Training will be provided on “Raiser’s Edge” as necessary
Familiarity with nonprofit association and charitable tax regulations in Africa (preferred)
