Minimum Requirements For Position
Currently hold a verifiable TOP SECRET security clearance vetted through JPAS.
Strong military leadership background:
Minimum 5 years’ experience at rank comparable to U.S. Military O-6
Minimum 1 command tour at squadron-level (USAF or equiv.) or higher
Minimum 3 operational tours or deployments
Minimum 3 years’ experience as an attaché or security cooperation chief in Africa
Minimum 2 years’ experience working at the Major or Combined Command-level (MAJCOM/COCOM) dealing with international strategy
Strong military aviation background:
Minimum 3,500 flying hours combined
Minimum 3 years, and 1,000 hours of instructor pilot (IP) experience
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in fielding and integration of one or more aircraft to include but not limited to:
UH-1H Huey II, C-208 Cessna, Tucano, F-5 Tiger II, MD-500/530F, C-145 Sky Truck, AT-802L Air Tractor, Grob trainers, T-38 Talon
Minimum 5 years’ experience working operational employment of air power, and/or command and control issues
Minimum 4 years demonstrated hands-on experience and knowledge of flight operations in East Africa
Strong international relations background
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a military capacity in Africa or developing nation environments
Minimum 5 years’ experience working directly with partner nation military forces
Strong familiarity of, and Minimum 3 years’ experience in the security challenges of the East Africa and Horn of Africa region
Proposed candidate must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Proposed candidate must be able to speak Swahili at a DLPT 2/2 level.
Demonstrated prior professional experience requiring excellent communications skills, both verbal and written in a training environment.
Demonstrated experience in relationship management yielding zero customer complaints.
The Strategic Aviation Advisor advises senior Kenya Air Force (KAF) leadership on the operational employment, executive direction, and command and control of the following aircraft: F-5 Tiger II, C-145 Sky Truck (M28), Shorts Tucano, Cessna 208, UH-1H Huey II, AH-1 Cobra, and MD-500 aircraft.
Travel
Anticipated and expected travel to outstations, typically established KAF fixed facilities, inside of Kenya.
Relocation is not included.
