ACCIK is a national network for registered Charitable Children Institutions (CCIs) from across Kenya. The CCIs are registered under the Children’s Act with the sole mandate of providing care, protection, control, and rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection
Since inception, ACCIK worked in 2 districts of Central Province, however from January 2012 ACCIK managed to mobilize 712 CCIs across all the former 8 provinces of Kenya to share its agenda and facilitate the election of regional and county representatives into the association through regional meetings. This resulted in the election of 9 regional representatives and 47 county representatives. In October 2012, ACCIK organized a workshop to train and empower the 9 regional representatives and 47 county representatives on the current global and government debate and strategies on care and protection of vulnerable children. At the climax of the workshop ACCIK was officially launched by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development on 3rd October 2012 in Nairobi.
