    Develop fundraising proposals, co-fundraise with partners, organize fundraising events, and meetings, and negotiate agreements with key funders.
    Develop new funding streams for the organizations to broaden the donor base and resource portfolio.

    Operational management:

    Ensure that the organizational structure, operational policies, and other organizational processes are optimal and able to effectively deliver on the strategic objectives
    Provide overall leadership to the human resources and further strengthen performance management across the organization;
    Maintain a positive work environment that facilitates collaboration and information sharing and is conducive to attracting, retaining, and growing talent.
    Financial management:
    Present annual financial budgets for Board approval as per the strategic plan, and more routinely, multi-year projections for the transparent management of resources;
    Act as the Chief Accounting Officer of the organization: Finance, Procurement, and Assets.
    Deliver value for money and ensure all resources of the organization are deployed on the primary mission of the Organization.

    Risk Management

    Ensure that there are strong internal fiduciary controls in place to monitor the use of the Organization’s resources.
    Effectively manage risk at the grassroots social movement and the Secretariat’s operations,
    Develop enabling organization’s policies and communications systems and ensure strict adherence to Board decisions;
    Inform the Board, in a timely way, of key strategic and other material operational risks the Secretariat is encountering in the course of its work.
    Act as the legal representative of the organization as authorized by the board

    Board management

    Act as the board secretary, and ensure effective and timely preparation of board papers as per the board manual.
    Participate (or delegate) and assist the Committees of the Board.
    Communicate Board decisions to the staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
    Assist the Board Chair in strengthening the overall governance of the Organization.

    Key Skills and Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s in a related field.
    A recognized Gender Equality and Women Rights champion.
    Track record in a senior management position (10 years) in the Civil Society/ or Women’s Movement.
    Track record in building and strengthening grassroots social movements.
    Demonstrated knowledge of the global, regional, and local context of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.
    Demonstrated experience in fundraising & resource mobilizations from bilateral & multilateral funders, private and public foundations, philanthropists, and International Organizations.
    Demonstrated ability to manage an annual portfolio of $3M and above.
    Experience in the creation and cultivation of successful partnerships with funders, governments, civil society actors, and grassroots actors.
    Thematic knowledge and experience in several of the following areas: Women’s political participation, gender policy, women’s access to land and natural resources, Financial inclusivity & women’s entrepreneurship, Gender-Based Violence, Human rights and SRHR, Climate Change, and biodiversity.
    Exceptional management skills in people, finances, and systems, with a proven capacity to motivate and lead a team to achieve organizational mission.
    Role model of ethical standards and integrity.
    An ability to make difficult decisions when required for organizational development and well-being.
    Great advocacy and representation skills(strong public speaking and influencing skills).

    About the Opportunity
    The Regional MEL Director will report directly to the Chief Program Officer for a highly strategic role in measuring and analyzing the impact of our programs, processes, and generating insight for growth.  There are currently 17 MEL staff, including research, data, MEL managers and other impact professionals who work in concert with programs, business heads, and the IT team to collect, analyze, and share learnings with both internal and external stakeholders. We are seeking a deeply curious and impact-driven evaluation leader with proven experience implementing robust studies in East Africa, developing large teams, and communicating insights effectively to a variety of stakeholders. The MEL Director will lead all MEL functions in the organization and be an important member of organizational leadership. With dedicated staff and consultants across all of our countries of operation, the MEL team is to both prove and improve program impact, helping leaders make data-driven decisions.
    Responsibilities
    MEL Strategy and Systems (30% time)

    Develop and implement comprehensive ME&L strategies, ensuring that annual evaluation studies take place in all program countries to measure and learn about Inkomoko’s impact on entrepreneurs and their communities
    Build on Inkomoko’s MEL data collection and analysis approaches, leveraging both technology and community partners to ensure accuracy and insights.
    Ensure accurate, real-time data is available for internal decision making and external reporting.
    Solicit, hire, and supervise external evaluation teams and third party-researchers
    Lead research partnerships with university partners and others
    Work with the IT colleagues to ensure the internal resources are “speaking” to one another for a single-source-of-truth in data management.
    Ensure data systems are easily accessible, visualized, and ready for consumption, and that all data collection and storage protocols and policies are ethical and compliant for working across geographies with vulnerable populations

     Learning and Partnerships (40% time)

    Engage with donors and investors to ensure that Inkomoko MEL outputs are responsive and advancing of the relationships.
    Represent Inkomoko MEL to leaders internally and externally.
    Develop and test hypothesis about our theory of change in new programs/locations
    Continue to deepen Inkomoko’s evidence base through research, sharing it with a wider network in contribution to thought leadership and understanding of what works.
    Identify research questions to answer and ensure research is participatory and responsive to communities
    Report to senior leadership, Board, and Directors on learnings to guide strategy and implement results that maximize impact.
    Prepare reports to funders, government, and other external stakeholders, providing relevant information for creating knowledge in the larger community
    Partner with the Communications team to highlight trends, ensuring that communications accurately represent learnings

     Administration and Management (30% time)

    Serve as an important member of the senior leadership team, providing high-level insights and data to inform the organization’s growth plans and strategies,
    Direct the M&E staff team to regularly build their skills and strategies to meet global standards of M&EL and excellent performance management.

    Minimum Qualifications
    This Director will be a seasoned leader who is deeply analytical and strategic. We are seeking candidates with 10+ years work experience in the evaluation field, in an African context, and preferably with experience in livelihoods, entrepreneurship or humanitarian interventions. Successful candidates will demonstrate:

    Proven track record of leadership, including significant roles in team development and growth across geographies
    Experience leading MEL strategies for complex or multi-country programs
    7+ years experience in a quantitative field (economics, statistics, etc) with significant training in quantitative methods.
    Technical skills to analyze data (STATA, R, etc)
    Experience leading in a multicultural workplace in East Africa, where justice, equity, and inclusion are core in our workplace
    Masters degree or higher in statistics, economics, math or other similar discipline.

    The internship under the Program on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones (SVCZ) in Nairobi is ideal for a student looking for a career in international affairs or public health.     Responsibilities

    Help develop, code and maintain program data(bases), including monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data, training participants, contacts, photographs, media coverage, and relevant literature.
    Carry out editorial tasks such as drafting blog posts for the PHR website and proofreading and footnotes for program publications.
    Monitor developments relating to sexual violence and creating weekly news digests for PHR staff and consultants.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Current enrollment in an university/college or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program; course of study in international development/relations, public policy, law, human rights, or related field preferred, but not required.
    Written and/or oral proficiency in French and/or Spanish is an asset.

    Work Experience

    Experience in the design and coordination of environmental scientific assessments, preferably at the international level, is desirable.
    One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable (none if successful YPP or P1 with a related degree).

    Languages

    A research scientist at IPA is an internal principal investigator (PI) and will be part of IPA’s Applied Research & Methods group. The individual in this role will function as a PI or co-PI for a range of studies that contribute to IPA’s mission of addressing problems of global poverty. They will collaborate with internal and external PIs to pursue this research agenda and will also have opportunities to pursue a more independent program of research based on the individual’s ability to obtain grant funding for their ideas. Scholarly publication and presentation of research at conferences and meetings with policymakers are supported and encouraged.
    Currently, ARM group researchers work together on three initiatives: Path to Scale Research, Research Methods (joint with Northwestern University’s Global Poverty Research Lab), and Poverty Measurement, but there are opportunities to work on related and new initiatives. Besides working on research projects as PI or co-PI, research scientists at IPA provide internal consulting, training, and mentoring to sector teams, the Right Fit Evidence (advisory services) unit, and country offices. The team is supported by program associates and research associates.

    Tasks and Responsibilities:

    Contribute to and eventually lead* research relevant to IPA’s mission, from conceptualization and study design to oversight of data collection and analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
    Contribute to and eventually lead* development of research proposals – Contribute to and eventually lead* training on running randomized trials and topics of the individual’s areas of expertise.
    Produce academic-quality research papers and present work at applied research and evidence conferences.
