Responsibilities for the Chief Lab Technologist job
Responsible for assisting the laboratory Director in the overall direction of the Clinical Research Centre Laboratory.
Responsible for assisting the Director in the design and implementation of the Quality management program.
Ensuring that the laboratory produces quality clinical results by directly participating in testing and supervising.
Responsible for supervising all the laboratory functions including but not limited to clinical laboratory SOP development and maintenance, proficiency testing, phlebotomy (policy and procedure).
Serve as the primary point of contact for all clinical laboratory related issues, results, interpretation and logistics.
Responsible for developing and facilitating a good management structure within the laboratory.

Responsible for the coordination of all regulatory and compliance activities and training requirements for the laboratory.
Oversee annual review of lab SOPs & initiate updates as needed; collect signatures and maintain inventory of archived documents.
Managing the QA program including EQA and IQC.
Responsible for the overall maintenance of the laboratory equipment.
Maintaining laboratory records, data management and good documentation practices.
Preparing duty Rota and ensures all sections are adequately covered.
Conducting lab staff performance and appraisals, orientation and training new employees on Human subject, GCP.
Supervising laboratory technologists in the collection, processing and storage of samples.
Ensures adherence to study protocols and proper handling of bio-hazardous materials.
Coordinating collaborations with other laboratories
Serves as liaison to internal and external investigators and collaborators.
Ensures on-going integrity of laboratory samples by overseeing all handling and repository projects while assuring accurate documentation and adherence to protocols and to timelines.
Responsible for assisting the laboratory Director in the overall direction of the Clinical

Qualifications for the Chief Lab technologist job
Possess Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or related discipline.
A Masters’ Degree in a Science related field.
At least seven (7) years’ experience in a busy clinical research laboratory.
At least five (5) years’ experience in management position
Knowledge and Skills
Experience in carrying out laboratory testing for research and/or clinical trials.
Experience in usage of Laboratory information Management systems (LIMS)

Location, Hours and Compensation

Regional Safety Coordinator (RSC) Coordinator, Regional Mixed Migration Secretariat
Overall Objective
The Regional Safety Coordinator (RSC) will advise and assist the Regional Director (RD), the Regional Senior Management Team (SMT) and Country Directors to develop and implement DRC’s Safety Risk Management (SRM) system for both DRC and DDG programmes in the East Africa and Yemen region.
Reporting Arrangements
The RSC reports to the DRC Regional Director, with a technical line to the Global Safety Advisor at HQ. While the RSC does not directly line manage safety staff, the RSC provides technical oversight and support to safety staff within the region.
Specific Objectives
The RSC, in consultation with the safety team, local safety staff and CDs, is expected to pursue the following objectives in his/her daily work:
Oversee the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process within the EAY region
Develop and maintain regional safety management policies, protocols and procedures, and support the contextualization of country and area level plans and procedures.
Facilitate Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs) and support the implementation of mitigation measures
Analyze, manage and report relevant information at country and regional levels
Quality assurance monitoring and reporting
Support and deliver safety-related training
Mentor and provide technical supervision to international and national safety staff
Develop the capacity of, and coordinate, the Regional Crisis Management Team and Country Incident Management Teams
Provide surge support to country programmes

To achieve the position objectives, the RSC will perform the following tasks and undertake the following responsibilities:
Oversee the development and implementation of the SRM process. Specific tasks include:
Assist and monitor the development of SRAs; supervise and endorse the assessment of Safety Levels
Advise the SMT, CDs and Area Managers on available safety management strategies, including the transfer, avoidance, acceptance and/or control of risks.
Assist in the development of country and area-specific safety plans, including Local Safety Rules (LSR); Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Contingency Plans (CPs); mitigation action plans; and Minimum Operating Safety Standards (MOSS).
Support the implementation of safety improvement plans and other related functions; and assist in the implementation of staff capacity training plans, including the delivery and prioritization of training modules
Develop and maintain Regional Safety Operating Procedures (RSOPs) and support the contextualization of the RSOPs at country and area level, as necessary.
Provide technical support to Country Directors and Country Safety Coordinators/safety staff
Provide technical supervision and support to all senior safety staff
Develop the skills and knowledge of safety staff through constructive feedback, training events and supporting personal development goals.
Assist Country Offices with the selection, recruitment and professional development of safety staff.
Provision of dependable advice in relation to programme access and continuity, including:

Establish and maintain a list of contacts throughout the region
Provide safety advice as part of programme development and during programme implementation, including programme assessments
Identify potential scenarios, indicators of change and key decision points
Represent the country programmes within inter-agency fora as related to safety issues, including:
Focal point for safety co-ordination between relevant actors within the area of operations
Attend NSP, UN and other relevant external fora
Establish a network of contacts and represent DRC/DDG at security meetings
Capacity building of all staff, including:
Provide operational safety briefings and orientation to new staff and visitors
Brief new international and non-local staff on specific cultural norms and behaviours
Train national and international safety in the delivery of establish safety training modules
Organize and coordinate the delivery of Personal Awareness and Safety Training (PAST) , Incident Management Training, Hostage Survival Training, as a minimum on a regular basis
Incident and crisis management and response, including:
Support the establishment and maintenance of the CMT and Country IMTs
Coordinate the CMT in the event of a critical incident or crisis

Functional Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities are to include the following:
Assist the Building Engineer in assessments of work quality and work progress
Assist the Building Engineer in preparation of daily work/activity report, record of contractor’s man-power, equipment and material at the project site
Ensure that all construction materials (steel, cement, sand, aggregates, and any other building materials) used are from the approved source
In coordination with the Building Engineer conduct inspection of concrete mix ratio, placement and reinforcement as per the UNOPS technical specifications and schedule
In coordination with the Building Engineer make sure that the contractor has satisfactory resources required for the work such as qualified personnel, skilled and unskilled laborers, equipment, and materials available on site to complete construction activities as planned
Make sure that the contractor is fully equipped with the personal safety equipment and medical kit and that UNOPS Work Place and Safety requirements are fully met
Report any irregular activities and accidents that may occur on site and ensure that works do not endanger the safety of workers and the public
In coordination with the Building Engineer discuss daily work program with the contractor representative/engineer
Keep records/file of daily work activity report including photographs, plant, equipment and labour used in construction of the works
Keep records/ file of all field inspection forms and measurements of completed works
Keep records and maintain files for all site memos and instructions, measured quantities of work and resources (labour, plant and equipment) on site, reports and other documents and all correspondence related to the construction activities and work

Issue orders to the contractor to remove or rectify any works that is not in accordance with the drawings and specifications
Minimize disruption to the works inclusive of getting requisite approval for visitors on site and promoting good communication on site

Update the work schedule and inform the Building Engineer on the work progress on the site
At completion of the contracts, verify the contractor’s “as-built drawings”, quantity and quality records as a true record of the works as constructed
