    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Contribute to the development and implementation of MEAL practices and tools for programmatic teams under the direction of the Associate Director and in collaboration with others.
    Regularly and proactively engage teams on MEAL needs at both the intervention and programmatic levels.
    Support teams with strategic planning processes, including the development of needs assessment research, the identification of constraints and root causes, and the creation of various types of theories of change.
    Develop and test valid, rigorous, and relevant data collection (monitoring) tools and processes in the face of dynamic, fast paced programmatic contexts.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Master’s degree, plus 5+ years of related experience or a lower degree with 10+ years of related experience. Related experience includes mixed methods research and evaluation approaches, including mobile data collection and remote data collection.
    Strong quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis skills and expertise and experience with statistical software packages (e.g. Stata, SAS, SPSS or R) or qualitative data analysis software (e.g., MaxQDA, NVivo or AtlasTi).
    Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    Strong facilitating and influencing skills.
    Comfortable working with diverse, multicultural teams in various geographic areas.
    Able to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships in a federated network.

    Role Purpose

    To promote youth-centered action for expanded SRHRJ in the region and connect a global community for youth participation across the Federation.
    The position of Youth Networker is a youth post. Youth positions are 2-year fixed-term contracts for people aged under 25.

    Context of role:

    This is ideally a development role for a young person starting their career in the NGO or Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights sector. It is anticipated to be a stepping stone 2-year contract with the hope to progress onto other roles within the Federation. The post holder will be working with: the Regional Team to bring direct involvement of youth and build regional and global platforms for youth activism and youth led accountability for SRHRJ. other Youth Networkers and the regional youth networks to build a global Youth IPPF community and contribute to wider youth movements. other members of the regional team in Membership Support & Development and External Relations from a youth perspective

    Role Deliverables:

    Organize youth action to ensure that the region has an IPPF youth network that is inclusive of marginalized groups, working to advance in the goals of the new strategy with MAs. Support Regional Youth Networks where they already exist to set and/or deliver on their plans, support set-up where they do not.
    Advise on how to ensure the direct involvement of youth participation and youth led accountability within the region and the member associations. Oversee and contribute to the Regional Youth Forums and Global Youth Forums.
    Guides and supervises the regional work for the inclusion of a youth perspective that ensures the participation and amplification of youth voices into design, evaluation and implementation of the initiatives organized by the Secretariat, for example advocacy, workshop design, communications etc.
    Recommends on how to create a grow pathway in the Federation, creating momentum and building engagement with regional networks, identifying and promoting younger leaderships and activism, mentoring strategies and growing opportunities.
    Amplifies the voice of youth within the Secretariat and how to create a safe environment that encourages/develops young people, ensures diversity, anti-racism and safeguarding of people and finances.

    Support MAs to develop youth networks in their location of work and foster youth centricity/ youth led programming in their local work in collaboration with Architects of Cooperation.

    The Role

    CORDIO is currently recruiting a Fish Ecology Researcher to be based in Mombasa, Kenya, with frequent travel.  The role involves technical expertise in reef fish ecology, contributing to coral reef monitoring, and supporting various projects within CORDIO.

    Responsibilities: 

    Support CORDIO’s coral reef research team in biodiversity surveys across the Western Indian Ocean, including acting as lead observer for reef fish surveys.
    Manage visual census and other fish databases and data analysis.
    Engage in report writing, contributing to scientific publications, and presenting research findings at various academic and professional platforms.
    Be a key member of CORDIO’s reef fish ecology research team.
    Assist in fisheries activities and meetings with fishers.

    Technical Skills:

    MSc/BSc degree in Marine Science/Marine Biology/Conservation Biology/Environmental Science/Oceanography or related field.
    More than 2 years of marine research experience, with writing/publication outputs.
    Experience in field research design, data management and analysis.
    Experienced diver with at least PADI Open Water or equivalent qualification.
    Proficient in Microsoft Suite software, and R.
    Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

    Major responsibilities:

    The Purpose of the Role

    The Program Development Advisor (PDA), East Africa will support country programs to pursue funding opportunities in line with IRC’s Business Development Strategy. Support will include all phases of the business development process, from opportunity identification to contract signature, including pre-positioning, partnerships building, proposal development, and due diligence phases. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working on new funding opportunities in humanitarian and international development with a range of multilateral and bilateral donors (USAID, US Department of State, FCDO, EU and DG ECHO, GFFO, BMZ, Sida, SDC, World Bank, etc.), as well as experience collaborating with local partner organisations.
    The PDA will support business development for institutional donors in the IRC’s East Africa region, which comprises programs in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda. Candidates who are from these countries and/or have significant experience in the region are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Scope and Authority

    This position does not have any line management responsibilities.

    Key Working Relationships

    Reports to Senior Program Development Advisor, East Africa.     Planning and Strategic Leadership (15%)

    Support country offices with Donor engagement and intel sharing for positioning; prepare for and participate in Donor calls as needed.
    Collaborate with country offices to successfully position for new funding opportunities by leading or assisting in the identification, tracking, and updating of new business opportunities across a variety of technical sectors and donors.
    Lead or support pre-positioning for specific opportunities, including facilitating technical brainstorming, partner and competitor landscape analysis and win theme sessions with technical and country staff

    Support the full proposal lifecycle including sharing initial assessment of new opportunities, supporting Go/No Go processes, preparing, and sharing templates and timelines, ensuring adherence to deadlines, supporting recruitment, assisting in reviewing budgets, ensuring document completion, organizing meetings, and compiling notes, and drafting and proofreading proposal sections.
    Facilitate the identification of consultants, partners and other proposal development support as needed in collaboration with the country team.
    Collaborate with technical units, country offices, and other colleagues to support conceptualization of winning proposal and bid designs for new project activities and/or amendments to current projects.
    Provide quality assurance and quality compliance support on proposals. Ensure responsiveness to and compliance with solicitation documents and with IRC’s requirements.
    Support coordination, communication, and inputs from consortium partners in accordance with donor and IRC processes.
    Coordinate and support regional reviews and approvals of proposal packages depending on country and regional needs.

    In line with IRC’s Partnership Ambition, and in collaboration with regional Partnerships teams, contribute to increasing the volume and equity of IRC’s work with local and regional partners (with a focus on women-led national organizations) by coordinating support to country offices in identifying partnership opportunities, identifying strong partners, and finalizing teaming arrangements.
    Coordinate regional and country-level inputs to donor meetings, conferences and communications as needed.
    Represent IRC externally to donors, peers, and partners.

    Capacity Building and Training: (10%)

    Contribute to developing, updating, and delivering business development related training for the region.
