    REPORTING To: Chief Nursing Officer

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s outcomes.
    Providing health education and counselling to patients/clients.
    Referring patients and clients appropriately.
    Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans.
    Maintaining records/Documentation on patients/client’s health condition and care.
    Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment.
    Ensuring that the privacy of the patients is respected and the result of the investigations and consultation are confidential.
    Order drugs and medical materials as necessary for the day and night duty as per the doctor’s prescription.
    Follow Doctor Prescription and ensure that all the procedures/Tests requested by the Doctor are done for the patient.
    Ensuring that the ward is clean (in and outside).
    Taking the Doctor/Consultant for the Ward round and assist whenever there is a procedure to be done.
    Properly handover to the next colleagues in the nursing Station and take him/her round to physically see the patients.
    Notifying the Supervisor in case of shortage, changes to be done and any problems in the ward.
    Always maintaining professionalism, honesty, truthfulness, adhere to nursing ethics and be committed when delivering services.
    Assisting in emergency nursing procedures necessary for promote control of changes in patient(s) physical conditions.
    Ability to perform the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, accurately and effectively.
    Keeping abreast of changing techniques in critical accurate nursing and maintaining high level of professionalism.
    Ensuring economic use of equipment and supplies

    Job Qualifications and Requirements

    Must be a holder of a Diploma in KRCHN from a recognized institution
    Must have Registration Certificate from Nursing Council of Kenya.
    Must have a valid practicing license.
    Must have strong commitment to care of patients and general customer service.
    Must have good communication skills.
    Minimum 2years’ experience.
    Be computer literate.
    Experience in theatre and ICU nursing will be an added advantage
    Must have a Certificate in BLS
    ACLS Certification/ Theatre Nursing & computer literacy will be added advantage
    Experience in Laparoscopy will be an added advantage

    A leading diagnostics provider is seeking to recruit for the position of Histo technologist.

    The ideal candidate MUST be registered with KMLTTB and have a valid 2021 practice license & have at least 2 years relevant working experience in a busy environment.

    Job Duties Include:

    Performs routine tissue embedding, microtomy and staining following established procedures.
    Perform immunohistochemistry staining with manual and automated methods as per established laboratory procedures.
    Prepares reagents following established procedures.
    Grossing of histopathology specimens with assistance of the surgical pathologist
    Prepare cytology samples, such as Papanicolaou (PAP) smear, body fluids and fine needle aspirations (FNAs), to detect abnormal conditions
    Assist the pathologist or other physicians to collect cell samples such as by fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies.
    Maintains documentation of workload volume and appropriate records as required by the department, company and various regulatory agencies.
    Maintains an up to date block files and slide archival system
    Maintains accuracy with correct patient tissue on appropriate assigned slides.
    Performs special staining procedures offered in histology and cytology
    Researches, troubleshoots and resolves inquiries or problems within the laboratory
    Development, annual review and updating of standard operating procedures established in the laboratory
    Performs reagent QC on routinely used reagents and troubleshoots reagent and instrument failures.
    Develops stain troubleshooting skills and develops trouble shooting skills.
    Assists with other non-technical duties within the laboratory as requested by the supervisor/manager to meet immediate needs of laboratory.
    Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment in designated area. This includes cleaning equipment, minor troubleshooting and reporting any irregularities in operation to supervisor/manager.
    Maintains appropriate records as required by laboratory, company and various regulatory agencies.
    Communicate urgent/critical tests results and maintain appropriate documentation
    Adheres to the laboratory’s safety policies.
    Maintains adequate stock of working supplies, notifies team leader or supervisor of shortage.
    Helps with inventory procedures.
    Participates in required continued education activities.
    Additional duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Applicants for the position must have a Certificate in histotechnology/Higher Diploma in Histology /Cytology and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution.
    S/he must have two (2) years relevant working experience and must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technician Board
    Ability to work independently in a team environment
    Strong ability to problem-solve
    Attention to detail
    Good communication skills
    Proficient in computers and IT

    Key Responsibilities

    Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities –

    Recommend departmental policies, plans and guidelines and implements EWASCO organizational policies and procedures for department.

    Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

    Develop Procurement Budget and ensures efficient management of available resources including deploying the department budget.
    Ensure that funds are available for any procurement under consideration.
    Recommend the best procurement methods; defines and communicates rules for supplier bids and ensures competitive procurement in the organization.
    Verify all procurement and disposal activities in accordance with the Public Procurement Act and EWASCO manual and policies.
    Review all records of purchased goods, including costs, deliveries and inventories and ensures maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information concerning department.
    Analyze and evaluate historical and market information provided to assess purchasing decisions and recommend improvements. Participate in price negotiations and manages high impact purchases.
    Monitor quality of purchased goods and services vis-a-vis the requirements and assists in solving major supplier problems.
    Monitor implementation of the procurement Quality Management System. Develop and implement all EWASCO departments’ procurement plans.

    Qualification / Requirements

    PERSON PROFILE

    A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, Procurement and Contract management, Purchasing and Supplies or its equivalent from a recognized university or Bachelor’s degree in any area with a Post Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain management, Procurement and Contract management, Purchasing and Supplies
    A master’s degree in supply chain management, Purchasing and Supplies or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
    Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies Member of KISM or CIPS and other relevant professional bodies in good standing.
    Minimum 5 (five) years’ relevant work experience with a public utility or service company
    Must satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya on Leadership and integrity through provision of;-

    Current certificate of good conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigation Department.
    Current Tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority.
    A clean and current report from an approved credit reference Bureau (CRB).
    Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
    Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

    The appointment will be for a contract term of 3 YEARS renewable subject to satisfactory performance evidenced by continuous achievement of performance targets.
