    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    We are seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to create engaging learning experiences. Your expertise in curriculum development and instructional strategies will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of effective training.     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Design and develop effective learning experiences that utilize instructional design theories, practices, and methods.

    Support capacity building, trainers and data collection strategies.
    Monitor and evaluate the success of the implementation, disseminate learnings and improve designs.

    QUALIFICATIONS:   

    A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as education, instructional design, instructional technology. A background in Agronomy is a pre.
    Proficiency in instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies and instructional design models, such as ADDIE.
    Ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences, including e-courses, online training, face to face training.
    Experience in (outsourcing of) video production, including script writing, screen recording, syncing subtitles and audio with video, translate with AI. 
    Strong writing and editing skills for creating clear and effective learning materials.
    Proficiency in designing assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
    Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle.
    Knowledge of multimedia elements, including graphics, audio, video, and animation, to enhance learning experiences.
    Data analysis skills to interpret evaluation results and make improvements.
    Project management experience in an agile environment with multi stakeholders and the willingness to continuously expand these skills to meet customer needs and add value to the organization.
    Strong problem-solving abilities to identify and address challenges in the design and development of training materials.
    Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
    Specific experience in voluntary standards and Rainforest Alliance’s Standard in particular

    The Programme Manager will lead the design and delivery of the Embassy’s sustainable food systems efforts, contribute to the development of the new mission strategy, and provide high quality technical and accountability leadership. The Programme Manager will report to the Head of Cooperation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead the effective management of the Embassy’s sustainable food systems efforts, grants and partnerships, in-line with the DFA Grant Management Standards, ensuring delivery effectiveness and efficiency, robust oversight, value for money and risk management.
    Provide leadership and technical expertise to the development of the Ireland Kenya sustainable food systems strategy and the new mission strategy (2025-2029) ensuring a whole of mission approach including links to private sector engagement and trade initiatives, climate and gender/youth.
    Ensure effective monitoring of funded interventions through developing and tracking indicators and generating evidence for reporting and lesson learning. This includes undertaking regular monitoring visits to ensure partner compliance, learning and effective implementation and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders including Government.
    Support overall Embassy planning, the implementation of the Embassy’s development cooperation portfolio, and the development and implementation of a new mission strategy.
    Lead on reporting and communicating results in areas of responsibility including the analysis of key research reports and evaluations to identify and document lessons and produce high quality materials.
    Identify opportunities to integrate our sustainable food systems efforts into other areas of the mission strategy in a manner that strengthens coherence and builds synergies including with HQ investments (e.g. two-way trade, reducing humanitarian need, gender equality and climate action).
    Ensure that the approach to grant management and partner engagement, monitoring and learning is informed by up-to-date global and local trends, evidence and best practice.
    Use senior management skills to monitor national, regional and international development and humanitarian frameworks relevant to sustainable food systems/agriculture/resilience/climate in order to identify relevant best practice that effectively informs programme development, quality and impact.
    Support the implementation of Ireland’s Foreign Policy and development cooperation objectives (Global Island, A Better World, Irelands Africa Strategy) and the linkages between these policies and the Embassy Business Plan (and evolving strategy).
    Provide high quality briefing material for senior management as required, including regular analysis of the policy, legal and socio-political environment relating to business plan priority areas nationally, regionally and globally.
    Develop and maintain a strong network of key stakeholders in Kenya (including Government of Kenya, Development Partners, research institutes, Civil Society, media and the private sector) and countries of accreditation as appropriate.
    Represent the Embassy in meetings of relevant sector working groups and coordination structures and provide timely and trusted reporting ensuring that Ireland’s policy priorities are effectively promoted.
    Other duties as required.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:
    Essential:

    Candidate must hold a completed post-graduate qualification in development management, agriculture or related field.
    Candidate must have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience working in the agriculture sector at a management level, ideally with experience on gender and climate.
    A sound understanding and practical experience of designing and managing sustainable food systems programmes including market systems development and deep knowledge of the agriculture sector in Kenya.
    Candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent written and spoken English. Applicant may be required to demonstrate language proficiency and a short written language test may be required.
    Excellent project management experience, including budget holder responsibility, with proven experience of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
    Strong interpersonal skills to build effective collaborative relationships, networks and multi-stakeholder partnerships and effectively represent the organisations at senior levels.
    A proven capacity for delivering timely results and taking responsibility for quality outcomes demonstrating sound judgement.
    A high degree of flexibility and adaptability including managing competing priorities and delivering results at pace.
    High degree of integrity and trust.
    Willingness and ability to travel regularly in Kenya and the region up to 30 days/year.

    JOB OVERVIEW:

    Reporting to the Water Officer, the Master Plumber will be responsible for quality installation of water reticulation systems, repair of bursts, ensuring that all water appurtenances are fixed correctly and in a professional manner and will train and mentor repair team members.

    TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Installation of water pipes and fittings

    Guide a team of refugee’s plumbers in repair and installation of water reticulation system when a need arises and fixing associated fittings.
    In collaboration with other team members, give technical extension information to the tap stand monitors on areas of facilities proper/prudent management for sustainability.
    Lead the repair team in pressure regulation for equitable potable water distribution in the reticulation system, in line with the set water regime and SPHERE / UNHCR standards.
    Work in collaboration with Water Officer in ensuring efficient and yet uninterrupted water supply during supply hours, should there be any repair work it should be attended in the shortest time possible.

    Reporting

    Prepare a record of daily activities performed in the field and submit weekly reports to the supervisor.
    Provide a record of all repairs and bursts attended during the week for documentation.

    Supervision

    Inspect and certify any pipe repair work done by refugees’ plumbers before back-filling the soil to ensure quality workmanship is maintained.
    Approve trench excavation done by contractors to ensure correct depth and width is achieved before pipe installation commences.
    Supervise the repair team member and ensure appropriate work allocation for each work day.

    Collaboration and Networking

    Work together with WASH committees, community leadership in the field in identification of problematic areas, water reticulation systems with a view of providing a sustainable solution.
    Collaborate with other agencies’ staff in the field

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education:

    Certificate/Diploma in plumbing course from a recognized institution in Kenya
    Certificate in Microsoft office
    Experience: 5 years working in a building maintenance environment as a Plumbing technician is required. Experience working with an NGO in a camp setting will be an added advantage

    Other knowledge, additional competences

    Must have fundamentals of plumbing theory relating to the installation and testing of water supply and distribution systems
    Must have ability to comprehend relevant safety requirement in the application of chemicals and the disposals procedures in accordance with international safety standards.

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    The MEAL Coordinator is a technical role and heads the MEAL function in the DCA Kenya Country Office (CO). The MEAL Coordinator will lead on the development and strategic direction of DCA’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems, policies, and procedures. The position will lead in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective and appropriate M&E systems for DCA-led projects and providing technical support to partners. The post will involve coordination with project management teams and partner focal points in line with donor reporting requirements, and with DCA guidelines and best practices.

    Key responsibilities:

    Take the lead in implementing the DCA MEAL policy and guidelines, coordinating with and providing technical support to field-based DCA MEAL staff on the same.
    Participate and play a leading role in the development and roll-out of a MEAL strategy for the DCA Kenya CO.
    Offer technical guidance for a strong MEAL system and processes throughout the project cycle from the design, start up, implementation to close-out and learning.
    Drive the use of learning and evidence from internal and external sources including previous projects to advise innovative proposal designs, Theory of Change (ToC) and program adaptation. Lead MEAL team proposal inputs including the development of proposed log frames, indicators, and MEAL approaches.
    Developing and operationalizing, logical frameworks, MEAL plans, data collection tools, processes for data management, complaints handling and feedback, quality checks and audits, and data visualization.
    Produce high-quality data, analysis, reports, presentations, and dashboards of key findings that foster learning and decision-making and share in key meetings such as project learning meetings and strategic senior leadership team (SLT) meetings.
    Analyse partner project data and reports, draw lessons learned and propose corrective measures to partners and DCA staff where necessary.
    Collaborating with DCA and partner project staff and the DCA Programme Development, Grants & Partnerships Coordinator, review donor reporting in advance of submission to ensure quality and accuracy and working closely with MEAL teams in field sites to ensure proper reporting of data.
    Working closely with the HoP, coordinate and facilitate inputs to the annual Country Programme report compilation.
    Supporting project and / or grant closeout and learning meetings to ensure sharing and capturing of lessons learnt.
    In close consultations with the HoP, plan and undertake monitoring visits to partners / projects and document actions / learning via monitoring reports.
    Provide technical leadership for the design, methodology, and conduct of surveys such as baseline and endline, and the commission of evaluations and any other assessments as required in coordination with DCA and partner MEAL & project staff where applicable.
    Provide ongoing support to project teams, partners, and rights holders to mainstream M&E systems; identify skill gaps that can be addressed through targeted organizational capacity support. Plan, organize and conduct MEAL capacity assessments & develop and implement capacity building plans for both partner & DCA project and MEAL staff.
    Serve as the DCA Kenya Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS)/Accountability focal point. Leading on reviewing and enhancing DCA and partner complaints handling and feedback mechanisms, and providing technical leadership on periodic ‘Listen, Learn, Act’ surveys.
    Contribute to evidence-based decision-making on programme design and implementation, notably through making monitoring, review, and evaluations findings accessible, developing innovative, user-friendly, and informative products.
    In cooperation with the Communications & Events Assistant and project staff, produce human interest stories, case stories, periodic SITREPs, quarterly newsletters, and other visibility materials communicating DCA and partner’s work, achievements and learning.

    Required Education, Experience & Skills

    A University degree in a relevant subject area (statistics, monitoring & evaluation, data management, social science, public health, economic development, or a related field) – a technical degree together with additional relevant work experience may substitute for education.
    A minimum 6 years of working experience within Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning-related functions.
    Experience in conducting research.
    Leadership experience and validated technical skills in setting up quality MEAL systems that lead to evidence-based decision-making.
    Knowledge of MEAL for international donors including EU, ECHO, Danida, NORAD and other institutional donors.
    Knowledge of and experience in working with local and international partners and the private sector.
    Enjoys and is good at liaison, building relations and networking.
    Good interpersonal and communication skills with experience in engaging with people of different cultures and backgrounds.
    Flexible, pro-active, self-motivated and good at coordinating and organizing own work as well as that of the team, while managing several processes at a time. This should be combined with a strong attention to detail.
    Knowledge of DCA’s programmatic areas is an advantage.

    Under the responsibility of the HI’s Emergency Director, the Country Director contributes within his/her geographical area to the implementation of the mandate and the Strategy of Humanity & Inclusion. He/she ensures optimal quality and impact of the activities in the Program, through a delegation system with appropriate control mechanisms. He/she shares with all HI managers the responsibility of sound management and successful functioning of the global organization.
    In line with the current project objectives, the Country Director will lead the successful program management from Nairobi with regular travels to Sudan when possible. S/he will ensure sound monitoring of the project in line with the expected outcomes of the project.

    With a strong link with the national partner, s/he will act as the partnership focal point with the implementing partner in Sudan, making sure that the partnership agreements are applied, and the collaboration is smooth between HI team and the partner.

    The Country Director- Sudan is the legal representative of the overall HI’s Sudan response internally and externally and promotes a high reputation and positive image of HI’s Sudan Program.
    The Country Director deploys HI’s full mandate and Strategy in her/his geographical area, with operational partners, institutions and/or donors.
    In his/her geographical area, s/he ensures compliance with his/her budget framework (including unrestricted funds) and HI policies and frameworks (safeguarding, commitment thresholds, security, human resources, risk management, etc.)

    YOUR PROGRAM:
    Mission 1: MANAGEMENT

    Contributes to the development of his or her staff, creating the conditions for their commitment, professionalism, and attachment to HI. Ensures compliance with the code of conduct of institutional policies, the state of mind and the expected individual and collective behaviour.

    Ensure the deployment and compliance with HI global frameworks, institutional policies, and standards.
    Conduct partnership Steering Committees with his/her direct managers/counterpart: the operational partner and HI project team
    Ensure the design of project proposals for the continuity or expansion of the project or the development of new projects upon request.

    Mission 3: OPERATIONAL IMPLEMENTATION

    Be responsible for security management: in link with the Humanitarian Access and Security Manager and HQ specialist, develop a culture of safety & security at the Program level (Sudan level); ensure that security documents are developed, up-to-date and that all necessary measures are in place; ensure incident management and reporting according to HI frameworks.
    Ensure financial control and monitoring of operations are effective in the Program: consolidation, control, and reporting of operational and organizational elements within the Program (dashboards, corrective measures, unrestricted funds consumption, etc.)
    Ensure technical quality standards are applied in the projects of the Program and monitor the implementation of evaluations and donor audits’ recommendations.
    With both potential opportunities and risks in mind, ensure continuous monitoring and analysis of current developments for the Sudan’s Program: implement analysis and monitoring of risks related to HI presence and activities; take mitigation actions when relevant.

    Mission 4: REPRESENTATION, INFLUENCE AND LEADERSHIP
    In conjunction with the Country Manager Kenya (for HI’s mission in Kenya), the Country Director-Sudan represents the overall HI’s response in internally and externally and promotes a high reputation and positive image of HI. This includes:

    Support HI’s registration process in Sudan

    Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to national teams, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.
    Provides technical guidance and supervise work of other implementing partners of the Urban EbA project such as Universities and consultants/experts.
    Coordinates activities related to monitoring of the project budget and funding of the Urban EbA project including preparation and submissions of progress reports, annual report, financial statements, etc. and prepares related documents/reports such as work plan, budget, etc.
    Performs other duties as required.

    Reporting lines

    The incumbent will be under the overall supervision of the UNEP Task Manager for the project

    Qualifications/special skills

    Advanced university degree in environmental studies, natural resource management, earth science or related field.
    A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management and/or coordination is required
    Experience working in regional setting especially in the Asia-Pacific region is required.
    Experience coordinating and implementing activities related to environmental compliance at country level or in an organization is required
    Experience working with UN entities or other international organizations is desirable.
    Experience working with Global Environment Facility (GEF) projects’ development, management and reporting is desirable.

    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN language would be an advantage.

    About the Regional Hub
    Plan International’s MEESA Regional Hub has 16 Country Programmes with approximately a budget of Euro 200,000 mil in financial year 2024 delivered through an organisation of 3000 people. The MEESA regional Hub team consists of 34 staff working to support countries in the region. The team is multi-located with most of the staff based in Nairobi, Kenya

    The role
    The role has a dual mandate creating a valued contribution to the regional People & Culture team and being a dedicated Country Office (CO) lead in People & Culture for Somaliland. 
    As the Regional P&C Partner 70% of your role will be:

    To acts as a coach and an above country resource to strengthen P&C capacity and capability to deliver their strategic and operational plans; building and strengthening of skills and expertise across the region. 
    Provide P&C business partnering to the Regional Hub (RH) team.
    To support nurturing of agile organisational culture, sustainability, and effectiveness through our people. 

    As the Country Office P&C Manager Somalia 30% of your role will be to: 

    Understand and Interpret the Country Office (CO) strategy and Plan International Inc (PII) P&C’s Strategic Plan and priorities to develop and implement CO P&C strategic and operational plans to enhance the Country Office’s performance through our people. 
    Partner with the Country Management Team (CMT) to nurture an agile organisational culture in the CO, underpinned by our values and feminist principles.
    Lead and manage the P&C function in the Country Office (CO) focusing on responsive and efficient operations and targeted excellence. 
    Build CO P&C capacity and capability to deliver CO strategic and operational plans, through competency assessments, learning and development, performance and talent management, workforce planning, etc.

    Technical Expertise, Skills, And Knowledge

    Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
    At least 5 years of Leadership and managerial experience within the INGO Sector 
    Practising Certificate from the Institute of Human Resource Management Kenya (IHRM)
    Demonstrated ability working in a complex multicultural team environment
    Strong analytical skills
    Experience in leading and managing a team, coaching and mentoring with experience in conflict management. 
    Significant professional expertise and in-depth knowledge acquired through professional qualifications, inherent understanding, and substantial relevant experience in developing and embedding people, capability, and organisational / HR practices.
    Fundamental understanding and extensive experience in strategic and operational aspects of people, capability and organisational/HR practices in a leadership role and ability to plan and prioritise work within the context.

    Languages required

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

    Desirable 

    Experience of working in non-profit sector
    A master’s Degree is preferred
    Fluency in English and additional language either Portuguese / French language is preferred.
