    Responsibilities

    Prepare fee notes for the client and follow up of the same
    Prepare commercial documents such as agreements and contracts

    ILRI publishes its research outputs using substantive documents such as reports, manuals and journal articles; and shorter publications such as briefs and blogs. ILRI is therefore inviting prospective consultants to submit applications and register to ILRI’s roster of editors.
    Scope of work
    The Consultant will support the publishing unit; review, edit and quality assure the publications; work closely and effectively with concerned staff to ensure timely submission of high quality and compelling publications. More specifically the consultant will work with the publishing unit and other relevant internal teams to:

    Provide editing and proofreading services for communication materials ranging from complex publications to substantive technical documents based on the ILRI style guide
    Support the writing and rewriting of content based on information provided by ILRI
    Review and revise content for completeness, accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency of language and syntax
    Provide recommendations on structure and composition

    Selected consultants will be awarded a maximum of 40 working days per annum at an agreed daily fee. The days will be drawn on a need by need basis and the agreement will clearly state that the actual number of days will vary depending on program needs.
    Essential Skills and Qualifications Required:

    An advanced degree in communication, public relations, journalism, marketing, or another field relevant to this assignment.
    Minimum of 10 years of experience in editing, preferably for agricultural development-related initiatives in East, Southern and West Africa and South and Southeast Asia.
    Extensive experience working with technical content, preferably in livestock, bioscience, agriculture and natural resource research
    Experience working closely with technical and nontechnical teams
    Proficiency in English
    Excellent grammar and punctuation
    Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines

    Position
    Options is seeking an exceptional Team Leader for an anticipated short-term assignment to assess the barriers, enablers, and opportunities for scaling maternal, neonatal, and child health commodities in low-resource settings. The Team Leader will guide a diverse project team of global and country experts, producing findings on key bottlenecks and barriers and recommendations for the client to prioritise its global investments.
    This assignment recognises that very few novel maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) products[1] have been fully scaled in low and middle-income countries. Despite life-saving evidence, many of these commodities in fact have the lowest and slowest pathway to scale of any products tracked. This assignment seeks to turn a complex set of information on this subject into actionable recommendations for a key global health partner to prioritize investments with the maximum potential for impact.
    The Team Leader is responsible for the overall strategic leadership, managerial oversight and technical direction of the assignment. S/he will ensure the assessment is delivered on time and to high quality, coordinating the inputs of global and country level experts. As the custodian of the technical approach, s/he will engage actively with the client and ensure course corrections and adaptions are made when needed.
    Responsibilities include:

    Finalise the assessment methodology, including its global and national aspects, the selection of approximately 3 case study countries, and the composition of the assessment team (including local resource partners in case study countries)
    Oversee and directly support the three assessment phases, drawing on inputs from experts in MNCH commodities, political economy analysis, technical economics, and evidence mapping to:

    Understand and strategically package the existing evidence
    Develop and validate a methodology for capturing the impact of successful solutions in addressing barriers to functional availability of MNCH products
    Develop, sense check and implement a method to support the client in prioritising areas of action

    Coordinate engagement with the client and external global and national expert group(s) to build buy-in and ensure that findings are anchored on existing knowledge and best practice

    Requirements
    To be successful in this role you will possess:

    Robust understanding of the global evidence and practicalities around barriers, enablers and opportunities for scaling MNCH commodities in low resource settings
    Experience in implementing/leading initiatives to improve the functional availability of novel MNCH commodities
    Demonstrated track record in designing and leading assessment processes, including framework development and writing up actionable investment recommendations for donors
    Excellent networks with relevant UN agencies, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID & USG partners, GFF and others working on MNCH commodities
    Substantive work experience in more than one low-resource country
    A postgraduate qualification in public health or related discipline
    Excellent written and spoken English

    Main duties and responsibilities
    Support in implementing the communication planning for the region East Africa

    Produce and publish items on social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn) in support of Terre des Hommes Netherlands’s work in countries and in the region.
    Maintain, update and improve the Terre des Hommes Netherlands website for East Africa, following the Terre des Hommes Netherlands communication planning for East Africa.
    Produce high quality case stories to be used for internal and external communication purposes.
    Produce communication and profiling materials for the region, such as one pager fact sheets.
    Assist in supporting the country teams in their communication needs, such as reviewing Information, Education and Communication materials and stories / reports.

    Knowledge and experience

    Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or multimedia.
    Experience in Social Media and web content management (including working with content management software), writing and editing for the web and Social Media, graphic design and site management.
    Computer literacy: well conversant with working in the Google Cloud and its applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc), including basic skills in working with photo and video editing software.
    Ability to undertake desk research using various (mainly internal) resources.
    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in fluent English.
    A good command of French will be an asset.

    Program / Department Summary
    The Intake and Investigations department is a newly forming team which is tasked with the intake and investigation of all reports of ethics violations including fraud, corruption, and Code of Conduct and Global Human Resources complaints. The team is responsible for managing all phases of this process from intake to investigative conclusion and then works with senior leadership for case closure. The Intake and Investigation department reports to the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer and the board.
    General Position Summary
    The Investigator, Global Human Resources is responsible for conducting investigations into allegations of violations of Mercy Corps’ Code of Conduct violations, excluding safeguarding and fraud and corruption. The Investigator will plan, conduct and prepare reports for assigned investigations. Investigator(s) may use the support of country HR team members as appropriate and available. Investigations will be conducted in the field and remotely; working in a variety of diverse cultural contexts and time zones.
    Essential Job Responsibilities

    Effectively plan and execute impartial, thorough, timely and survivor-sensitive investigations
    Develop and draft timely investigation plans that identify risks and prioritize a survivor-centered approach
    Conduct witness, survivor, and subject interviews, both in person and remotely, in a survivor-sensitive manner

    Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
    The position is flexible to be located in Mercy Corps locations in Africa or HQ US offices. Work authorization is required for the applicant’s target base locations at the time of application. It requires up to 50% travel to countries which may be listed as failed or failing states. Travel for investigations is occasionally urgent, resulting in travel departure within days of notice.
