    JOB PURPOSE:
    Our client, a leading manufacturing company based in Nairobi County, is looking to recruit a highly-skilled Mechanical Technician for their plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for updating service and repair records, maintaining machinery, and running diagnostic tests on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Must have a solid knowledge of mechanical performance standards and experience in a similar field of specialization.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    Minimum Requirements:

    BSc Mechanical Engineering plant option or (Diploma in Technology) Or Mechanical Engineering Technician
    At least 3 years’ experience in maintenance of mechanical machineries in a busy factory environment.
    Computer literacy and ability to write and interpret technical reports.
    Knowledge in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of Mechanical systems and installations in a factory.
    Experience in working with hydraulics, pneumatics and also welding skills an advantage.
    Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
    Personal development program/exposure of at least one year on the same role will be an added advantage

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND KEY RESULTS:

    Process, plan, implement and control, review and adjust a production schedule for the job
    Preventive maintenance of machines as per laid down instructions and procedures to ensure a smooth running
    Trouble shooting mechanical equipment and machine failures by inspection and testing and prescribing corrective action and reinstating it back to its working condition.
    Initiating purchase requisition for machine spare parts for maintenance
    Coordinating maintenance team for proper work performance
    Logging details of work performed on data records to enable further action, planning for next service and storage as history.
    Inspection of machines operations and recording of data such as pressures, temperatures etc to ascertain smooth operation or service requirements.
    Oiling and greasing of machines to ensure smooth running of rotating parts.
    Support SHE, AM 6K, PaTaMu, GMP/FSMS initiatives and objectives.
    Perform any other assigned duties by the supervisor
    Identify and report all quality and food safety issues during daily operations.
    Any other assigned duties.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities
    Shared reflection, learning and resource development

    Applying a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, capture learning from local women centred organisations’ experiences and, through a consultative process, lead on the development of a women’s leadership resource package. This resource is intended to contribute to sector-wide learning and foster change in cluster/coordination structures to accommodate meaningful participation and leadership of local actors and particularly women-centred organisations in these spaces.
    Facilitate shared reflection and peer-to-peer exchange, creating a space for women-centred and local organisations co-leading GBV sub-cluster coordination mechanisms across multiple contexts to connect and share experiences.

    Grant coordination and management

    Oversee and coordinate project implementation as per approved proposal, including all aspects of planning, design, delivery, coordination, monitoring, communication and donor liaison.
    Ensure proactive management of the grant in compliance with Trócaire and donor regulations and requirements, including effective and responsible financial and supply chain management, as well as oversight of day-to-day administrative tasks relevant to the grant.
    Establish strong internal MEAL and reporting systems for the grant and develop high quality and timely reports to meet all internal and donor reporting requirements.
    Ensure systematic information and knowledge management for the grant, including appropriate use of organisational grant and financial management platforms (Agresso, Salesforce, Box).

    Technical support and accompaniment to women-centred organisations

    Working with in-country GBV specialists in each project location, coordinate and support the provision of technical support and accompaniment through mentoring and ongoing training relating to i) women’s leadership (including collaborative leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution); ii) technical GBV response (including the Inter-Agency Minimum Standards for GBViE Programming, peer-to-peer support and staff care) and iii) coordination skills (development of referral pathways, Standard Operating Procedures, resource mobilisation, navigation of the GBV AoR Coordination Handbook and resources such as the Helpdesk, AoR Website, and the GBV AoR Community of Practice).
    Stay abreast of, and align Trócaire’s approach to, sectoral best practice and minimum standards. This includes the Inter-Agency Minimum Standards for GBViE Programming, the GBV AoR Handbook for Coordinating Gender-Based Violence Interventions in Emergencies and the IASC Localization Guidance on Strengthening Participation, Representation and Leadership of Local and National Actors in IASC Humanitarian Coordination Mechanisms.

    Internal and External Engagement, Coordination and Relationship Management

    Represent Trócaire effectively in programme-related platforms and consultations at global, regional, national and/or sub-national levels, and ensure professional and high-quality engagement with all coordination and learning processes established for the grant.
    Cultivate supportive and collaborative working relationships with the participating women-centred organisations and with other local actors that are co-leading coordination mechanisms across multiple contexts, including through facilitation of peer-to-peer exchanges in collaboration with the GBV AoR Coordination Team.
    Consult and coordinate closely with the GBV AoR coordination team, GBV sub-cluster coordinators, Regional Emergency GBV Advisors (REGAs), the GBV Minimum Standards Task Team and the membership of other relevant platforms, such as the Global Protection Cluster and the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies.
    Establish and maintain clear internal coordination and communication protocols and processes with Trócaire colleagues (both finance and programming) to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of all project activities.
    Work with colleagues across Trócaire to ensure coherence, synergy and shared learning. This includes collaboration with the wider work of the Global Hub on Partnership and Localisation and the Humanitarian Unit, as well as with colleagues in GBV and Women’s Empowerment; Policy; Safeguarding; and Programme Impact and Learning.

    Other Duties

    Fulfil other duties as may reasonably be required by line management, including engaging with wider organisational processes and priorities.
    Travel to project locations, including potentially insecure areas, in line with grant requirements, sometimes at short notice. (COVID dependent, periodic travel is expected to programme locations, typically in blocks of 1 – 2 weeks.)

    Requirements
    Qualification

    Relevant third level qualification.
    Relevant humanitarian/development training.
    Post-graduate qualification in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, International Development, Humanitarian Action, Gender Studies or other relevant field of study preferred.

    Experience

    5 years in the humanitarian or development sector in a programmatic role, including at least 3 years in the design and implementation of GBV programmes in development/humanitarian settings. International experience an advantage.
    Participating in humanitarian coordination mechanisms, particularly GBV sub-clusters or working groups at global, national or sub-national level. Experience co-chairing coordination mechanisms an advantage.
    GBViE programming, either in grassroots women-centred organisations, or in partnership with grassroots, women-centred organisations.
    Supporting women’s leadership or localisation initiatives, including experience designing and implementing capacity sharing and accompaniment models.
    Grant management, including all aspects of planning, implementation, financial management and reporting duties in line with donor requirements. Experience with USAID/OFDA/BHA-funded grants an advantage.
    Capturing lessons learnt and developing programmatic guidance, tools or other resources for a diverse audience.
    Developing programme documentation (proposals, reports, etc.) for a range of institutional donors.
    Liaising and coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including inter-agency coordination fora, including UN and NGOs, to achieve results.
    Designing and facilitating workshops in humanitarian or development settings, including experience using participatory methodologies to facilitate reflection, shared learning, discussion and consensus building.
    Using participatory, community-led programming approaches, including strategies for supporting the participation of women, girls and potentially marginalised / at-risk groups.
    Working in a multi-cultural environment.

    Skills

    Strong knowledge of sector standards and best practice approaches for GBV programming and coordination in humanitarian settings.
    Understanding of safeguarding (including PSEA), do-no-harm and survivor-centred principles, in particular as they relate to GBViE programming.
    Understanding of programming in a partnership and accompaniment model and ability to work effectively with local, national and international partner organisations, including women-centred organisations.

    The post is located in the Office of the Director-General (ODG), UNON. The ODG also oversees the work of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) liaison team in support of the Director-General’s political mandate in Kenya. This position is located in the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) in the United Nations Joint Medical Service (JMS), duty station KAKUMA.
    Under the direct supervision of the Associate Medical Officer and the Head Nurse, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
    Responsibilities

    Clinical Duties:

    Respond to emergency calls and assists Medical Officers in providing adequate care; ensures effective liaison between patient and private doctor, paramedics, family members, and colleagues as appropriate; documents case findings.
    Conducts phlebotomy on clients with proper sample identification and processing to the laboratory.
    Performs ECG, Spirometry, Audiometry and other medical examinations such as blood tests, glucose, cholesterol and urine exams, as required.
    Assesses needs of clients visiting the walk-in clinic, provides care/advice (e.g., the benefits of preventive medicine, etc.) accordingly or facilitates referral to the UN Medical Officer or to an outside physician, as indicated.
    Assist in running the UN Kakuma JMS clinic fever clinic established for the purpose of adequate clinical management of clients calling in or presenting in person during the COVID-19 disease outbreak
    Coordinate with relevant ministry of health teams in contact tracking and surveillance for COVID-19 cases.
    Ensures preparedness of staff traveling on missions or reassignments, including administration of appropriate vaccine, instructions on malaria prophylaxis and other travel- related ailments. Instructs on the content and potential uses of the travel kit.
    Prepares health education material and conducts sessions to address staff on work environment, occupational health and other specific medical and health issues for groups of staff.
    Medico-administrative duties:
    Assists Medical officer in all of her/his activities as required.
    Ensures that medical instruments are properly sterilized.
    Ensures proper filing of medical and other records; prepares or oversees the preparation of sick leave reports/certificates and certification of sick leaves in Earthmed.
    Liaises with the insurance company regarding hospital admission of staff members/eligible dependents.
    Evaluates, orders and maintains an efficient inventory and stock control of medications/vaccines and other medical supplies and equipment.

    General:

Formal certification in CPR in either BCLS, PHTLS, ETB, ACLS, ATLS or equivalent emergency medical certification, is required. Working knowledge of occupational and travel nursing in addition to clinical nursing is an asset.

    Work Experience

    A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in Nursing or related field is required.
    At least 2 years experience in emergency medical services and infectious disease management is required.
    Experience working in an occupational health setting is desirable.
    Experience in travel health nursing is desirable

    Languages
    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage. For this position, fluency in Swahili/Kiswahili is desirable.
