    Duties/Responsibilities

    Lead the design and development of training resources and courses for on-line, face-to- face and hybrid training on grantsmanship (with a focus on ideation, grant writing and identification of funding sources) in English and French.
    Lead the design and development of a Trainer-of-Trainers workshop of the grantsmanship course for facilitators (English and French speaking).
    Support the curriculum development process for select courses (i.e. lead the planning, content and method development, testing, implementation, and course evaluation).
    Lead logistics, academic planning and recruitment of facilitators for face-to-face, on-line and hybrid training opportunities of the Research Support Hub.
    Lead the dissemination of the Research Support Hub training opportunities and recruitment of participants ensuring diversity and Africa-wide reach.
    Conduct training needs assessments to identify skills and knowledge gaps to be addressed through different support modalities and assessment of offered training opportunities.
    Lead dissemination of training and research support opportunities to potential individuals and institutions.
    Manage the virtual academy elements of the Research Support Hub, ensuring they are up to date, accessible in English and French, and ready to support the engagement of researchers across Africa.
    Design and implement Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) tools to continuously monitor project implementation.
    Lead report writing based on data collected routinely as part of the project M&E
    Lead the dissemination of best practices to appropriate audiences, including manuscript writing when appropriate; and
    Contribute to RRCS program sustainability by supporting research-support proposal development
    Support the Research Capacity Strengthening Division strategic discussions and decision- making processes.
    The position will require time spent in Dakar, Senegal.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

    PhD in Health Systems Strengthening, Public Health, Applied Sciences, Education, Social sciences or related field.
    At least seven years post-master’s experience in an academic or research setting.
    Experience developing training resources and short courses and conducting capacity strengthening activity in academic settings and/or research institutes.
    Good oral communication and writing skills in English and French.
    A good record of publications (at least three as a lead author in peer reviewed journals)
    Ability to work independently, set priorities, juggle tasks and meet tight deadlines.
    Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and coordination skills and ability to work in a culturally diverse team.
    Strong quantitative skills (managing, analyzing & interpreting data), with extensive familiarity with quantitative statistical packages (e.g. Stata, SAS, or SPSS).
    Expertise in mixed methods research approaches.
    Experience with e-learning platforms.

    THE ROLE
    Key Responsibilities
    This is a Manager Role in the Aquaculture Team. Alongside catalysing the competitiveness and growth of aquaculture, supporting environmental sustainability and biosecurity in East African aquaculture is one of Gatsby’s key priorities. Some indicative responsibilities of this role will include;

    Working with key private sector stakeholders to design and manage interventions to minimize negative environmental impacts of aquaculture on Lake Victoria.
    Support government stakeholders to design key governance tools that support the environmental management of Lake Victoria.
    Work with farms to support the design and implementation of environmental management protocols.
    Facilitate the adoption of management practices that reduce fish disease incidences at farms.
    Work with wider industry stakeholders e.g. associations to identify opportunities for self-regulation on issues like biosecurity and environmental management.

    Preferred Qualifications and Experience

    An undergraduate degree in natural sciences (Environmental science, Climate Change and sustainability, Biology (zoology/botany/conservation biology), Chemistry, Engineering (Chemical engineering), Physics, and Oceanography) from a reputable institution; a master’s qualification is preferable but not required. For this role, we are looking for individuals with 3 to 5 years of experience of professional experience in environmental sustainability, water resource analysis or management, natural sciences, veterinary areas, or a related area.

    Qualifications and Requirements:
    For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    Proficiency in computer applications;
    Registration with Kenya Veterinary Board or equivalent professional regulator; and
    Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

    Responsibilities:
    An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer in any of the listed functional areas. Duties and responsibilities will entail assisting in: –
    Standards

    Developing, and reviewing standards and guidelines for veterinary medicines registration, carrying out inspections, trade and good manufacturing practices;
    Carrying out research to inform development and review of appropriate standards and guidelines in liaison with relevant departments and stakeholders; and
    Sensitizing stakeholders on existing standards and guidelines.

    Registration & Licensing

    Evaluating and recommending veterinary medicines new/retention applications for registration;
    Assessing applied variations and providing recommendation in relation to products market authorization;
    Evaluating and responding to appeals and complaints on market authorization issues;
    Developing, applying and reviewing guidelines for veterinary medicine evaluation and GMP compliance;
    Developing annual registers of manufacturers of veterinary medicines, registered and retained conventional and alternative veterinary medicines;
    Enforcing good manufacturing practice for veterinary medicines manufacturers;
    Screening and recommending veterinary pesticides for efficacy trial.
    Licensing the manufacture, marketing, importation, exportation, advertisement, and sale of veterinary medicines;
    Issuing annual permits for Local Technical Representatives of foreign manufacturers; and
    Evaluating and responding to appeals and complaints on registrations issues.

    Compliance & Surveillance

    Implementing policies, guidelines, strategies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Compliance, disposal of unwanted veterinary medicines and testing function;
    Inspecting veterinary pharmacy premises for compliance with laid down standards;
    Monitoring veterinary pharmacy practices for compliance;
    Taking measures necessary to ensure identified non-compliances are addressed;
    Monitoring clinical and non-clinical trials of veterinary medicines by individuals and institutions to be involved in the trials;
    Ensuring adherence to proper disposal practices of expired, damaged, unregistered, fake, counterfeit and other illicit veterinary medicines;
    Ensuring marketed veterinary medicines have market authorization;
    Ensuring appropriate safety measures are put in place in premises that deal with veterinary medicines;
    Ensuring veterinary medicines are stored, labelled and supplied in compliance with the law
    Documenting exhibits and other evidence concerning violations;
    Appearing and Testifying in courts as required; and
    Participating with other, state agencies as needed in activities related to the enforcement of laws concerning veterinary medicines and premises.

    Trade Facilitation

    Filing returns of veterinary medicines used in Kenya to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE);
    Compiling Register of Approved Veterinary Pharmacies for publication;
    Compiling trade data on the volumes and types of medicines being imported and exported out of the country;
    Processing permits for importation and exportation of veterinary medicines;
    Licensing veterinary pharmacy practices;
    Licensing the manufacture, marketing, importation, exportation, advertisement, and sale of veterinary medicines;
    Issuing annual permits for Veterinary Pharmaceutical Representatives;
    Ensuring only veterinary medicines with market authorization are allowed in or out of the Country; and
    Eliminating unfair business practices in the veterinary medicine supply chain.

    Ports of Entry.

    Verifying import/export documents and inspecting consignments of veterinary medicines at specific ports of entry;
    Impounding illegal, sub-standard and expired veterinary medicines;
    Recommending disposal of impounded veterinary medicines;
    Monitoring the market for and take measures necessary for the elimination of trade in illegal and counterfeit veterinary medicines;
    Conducting surveillance activities to ensure safety, quality and efficacy of veterinary medicines; and
    Overall enforcement of VMD regulations in areas of jurisdictions in conjunction with other relevant Government Agencies.

    Digital Health Program Manager

    PSI seeks a Digital Health Program Manager, that will oversee, operational, technical, and programmatic excellence goals and execution of quality standards by providing wide-ranging operational, technical, and/or or project management support to aglobal digital health projects or digital portfolio of network members/country projects. May also supervise one or more staff who serve as a global, network member/country focal point. Work with network members/country project teams, headquarters technical and service departments, and subcontractors to ensure program/project objectives are met to high standards of quality and timeliness and are in compliance with donor requirements. Ensure the programmatic and financial health and technical quality of a portfolio of network members and country or global project(s) of high complexity. Demonstrate advanced knowledge or provides specialized subject matter support in digital health or technology project management. . Supports country, project, or departmental leadership with donor relations. May also contribute to wider departmental and/or organizational initiatives and working groups. Within a global project or technical team also contribute to the development of technical documents and presentations for internal and external audiences.

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications
