Technical Coordinator – Protection & Inclusion

Job Summary
Under the responsibility of the Country Manager – Kenya and with support of HQ “Protection and Inclusion Technical Referents”, Technical Coordinator – Protection and Inclusion is responsible for the overall achievement of the project, aiming to translate effectively the international commitments in regard of children’s rights, in particular the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) into practical actions on the ground through improved response mechanisms to child protection within the refugee operations in Kenya. Overall responsible for technical coordination of the project (directly supporting the Project Managers) in the 3 project locations (Dadaab, Kakuma and Nairobi) to guarantee development, ownership and coherence of the approaches chosen for the project. Responsible for the overall compilation of project reports and monitoring the project. He/she will have to create and maintain an environment which prevents sexual exploitation and abuse and promotes the implementation of the code of conduct.
Job Description
 
S/he will be responsible for

Providing technical support and oversight to the projects.

Supporting the development, implementation and technical monitoring of various project activities
Ensuring technical support on HI protection and inclusion approach within the child protection programming specifically focused on children with disabilities.

Capacity building / training:

Developing training modules and plans and regularly training the team based on capacity assessment analysis.
Identifying support needs and facilitating training/coaching of the project teams

Reporting & Monitoring

Participating in the development, implementation and technical monitoring of various project activities.
Monitoring and maintaining compliance with standard HI technical guidelines and international protection guidelines, including ISAC guideline and Inclusive humanitarian charter, on GBV and CP mainstreaming and response to PSN.

Programme management:

Contributing to the overall strategic reflection of the program.
Participating in the drafting of new projects (Support in writing concept notes, Logical Framework and Proposals)

Representation/Coordination and Networking

Ensuring HI’s proper representation in sectorial working groups in the field and nationally as well as and national protection cluster.
Ensuring good internal coordination with operational team (such as Project Managers, Coordinators, Project officers and teams in the field stations)

Child Protection Policy/HI risk management policies:

Complying with the risk management policies of HI, including: the policy on the protection of beneficiaries against exploitation and sexual abuse, the child protection policy.
Ensuring the best possible respect of HI risk management policies during project activities by staff from HI and from partner organizations.

Management and supervision of staff under his/her line management
Respect of HI identity, rules and policies

Qualifications and skills required:
Essential.
Education :

At least a University Degree in Social Sciences or management discipline or its equivalent
Knowledge of the disability sector is an added advantage
At least 5 years practical experience project/programme management
