Background
The Business Development Executive will be part of the business development team and will be responsible for supporting the Business Development Manager with driving sales and growing Africa Health Business’ long-term revenue goals. The Business Development Executive supports all aspects of new business acquisition through three key functions: 1. attracting new clients 2. write winning proposals and 3. build solid relationships with new and existing clients. You will work with various internal departments such as partnerships, communications and operations and report to the Business Development Manager.
Scope of work
Working under the direction of the Business Development Manager
Supporting the development of competitive proposals
ensuring compliance of proposals with the requirements
ensuring adherence to the defined process, quality standards and deadlines
Conducting market research and identifying potential clients
Identifying new business opportunities and partners across the continent
Cultivating strong relationships with new clients, while maintaining existing client relationships
Collating and maintaining client information in the CRM database
Working closely with staff across departments to implement growth strategies, drive sales and to resolve issues with delays or other roadblocks in the proposal process
Support developing and implementing sales strategies, client service and retention plans, and analyzing sales data to inform or update sales strategies
Assist with drafting business plans, sales pitches, presentations, reference material, and other documents as required
Represent the company in a diverse range of environments to promote achievement, and influence thinking
Travel internationally and domestically occasionally and on short notice
Knowledge and skills:
Minimum university bachelor’s degree
At least 7 years’ relevant work experience in business development or similar field
Familiarity with issues related to international development and public health desired
Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Word, and proven ability to layout and format complex documents and writing correctly and concisely
Skills in developing and designing presentations in PowerPoint
Ability to conduct the research efficiently to identify or check information
English required, French preferred
Competencies:
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various levels of clients, management, and staff with diplomacy
Demonstrated good judgment and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work proactively
Ability to organize work and meet strict deadlines with attention to detail and quality
