This part-time research position reports to the Executive Director. The key responsibility of the successful candidate shall be to coordinate and facilitate academic activities of KENET Special Interest Groups in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) areas and to prepare and disseminate data-driven research advocacy reports for different stakeholders (e.g., government, Vice Chancellors, and donors) using advanced research analytics tools and open data available in Kenya. He/she shall also be part of the team prepare research grant proposals at KENET.
Suitable candidates shall be expected to have the following minimum qualifications and experience:
A Master’s degree in statistics, engineering, physics, computer science or information systems. A PhD degree shall be an added advantage
Full-time faculty member at a Kenyan university with at least three years’ experience at the rank of Lecturer
Recent recipient (individually or as part of a research team) of a research grant from an external donor (i.e., outside the university)
At least two refereed journal or conference publications in the last two years
Demonstrated excellent writing and oral communication skills in English
Demonstrated high ethical and moral standards
Available for at least two days per week for at least two calendar years (2016 and 2017)
