Business Development Manager-ALN

Job Summary
The Business Development Manager – ALN is responsible for supporting the team in ALN strategy execution, covering Events, Marketing Communications and Bids and Submissions as well as relationship building, and measuring the effectiveness of the execution process. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, she/he will provide customer focused marketing solutions.
Key responsibilities:

Work with the Head of Business Development, Marketing and Communications to prepare an annual ALN BD plan and budget for board approval and execution.
Ensure the execution of the approved ALN BD plan working with the relevant stakeholders, including the ALN Key Client programme, conferences and events, thought leadership and publications and other strategic projects as may be assigned from time to time.
Support the development of ALN Board packs, reports and papers for board meetings and ALN Partners.
Work with the Bids and Submissions manager to manage the assembly of all directory and awards submissions for ALN and provide necessary guidance to ALN firms on their submissions.
Work with the Bids and Submissions manager to manage the assembly of multi-jurisdictional ALN bids and proposals, including maintenance of relevant databases, and optimisation of all bids and proposals templates and submission materials.
Work with the Bids and Submissions team to maintain an up-to-date experience statements database for ALN, and support member firms in doing the same.
Support member firms in ensuring that all CVs, bios, firm profiles are up to date, and work with the MarComs team to ensure that all materials are accurately reflected on digital platforms.
Working with the team to ensure that ALN partners are regularly updated on deal opportunities, market conditions and news.
Ensure that internal and external communications for ALN are regularly generated, and work with the MarComs team to ensure dissemination via email and the digital marketing platforms.
Work with relevant stakeholders to identify events to be hosted by ALN, and work with events and MarComs teams to organise and market the events;
Support the lawyers in identifying publication opportunities in each relevant practice area in accordance with the BD plan, ensure that lawyers meet the deadlines, and supervise tracking of these opportunities by BD team, including publications database.
Support the lawyers in identifying conference opportunities in each relevant practice area in accordance to BD strategy plan and relevant quotas.
Work with events team to ensure that lawyers receive the necessary support, including collateral, properly-formatted presentations and supervise tracking of these opportunities by BD team, including a conferences database.
Work with the lawyers and the MarComs team to ensure that the relevant marketing collateral is generated in alignment with the ALN BD plans.

Knowledge and Skills requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Marketing required;
Seven or more years of experience in proposal writing and business development activities for a professional services or consulting firm, law firm or large company;
Prior experience working directly with partners, practice area leaders and senior professionals required;
Prior experience in legal or professional services strongly preferred;
Superior project management, technical and creative graphics skills (using the Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access);
Demonstrated ability to be an enthusiastic, energetic and action oriented team player;
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) demonstrating a high degree of responsiveness to requests;
Strong business development acumen and able to manage and execute both strategic, as well as tactical, marketing campaigns and tasks designed to facilitate business opportunities;
Strong organisation and administrative skills to balance and prioritise urgent matters, with longer-term strategic projects;
Capable of working in a deadline-driven environment and multiple projects simultaneously with a customer service focus;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and professionally with people at all organisational levels of the Firm;
Ability to travel is required.
