Value Stream Leader and Compliance Lead

Job Purpose StatementThe Value stream lead role exists to ensure production activities, staff, processes and value stream support functions are actively engaged in Manufacturing and supply of the product necessary to meet customer demand.As a key member of the extended leadership team, the value stream leader is accountable for :-

Providing effective training to the workforce and ensures safety and quality standards are maintained at all times in the stream.
Work alongside with the Site functions to deliver stream production plan to meet service, quality, safety and financial standards.
Ensure optimal utilization of the manufacturing systems and resources to deliver the business expectations in the stream.

Fundamentals (Safety, Quality, people and Process)

Ensure all activities carried out comply with relevant site GMP and EHS requirements.
Ensure appropriate training and development of production personnel to maximise output and minimise risk in terms of product quality, product loss, waste and occupational health and safety and environment concerns.
Ensure 100% adherence and compliance to the continuous improvement training for all the site production staff.
Ensure 100% adherence and compliance to my Learning training all the site production staff.
Establish and continually review quality management systems (QMS) within the context of the overall strategic plan, and in line with local, overseas and group standards within the manufacturing operation
Ensure appropriate training and development of production personnel to maximise output and minimise risk in terms of product quality, product loss, waste and occupational health and safety and environment concerns.
Responsible for the development of staff through the PDP process
Create and enable reinforcement mechanisms and celebrations of success
Responsible for employee relations within production function and others support units within the business.
To approve the instructions relating to production operations and to ensure their strict implementation.
To ensure the qualification and maintenance of his department, premises and equipment
To ensure that the production records are evaluated and signed by an authorised person.

Innovate the Business

Develop innovative programs to improve efficiencies and yields without compromising quality, safety or environmental guidelines.
Initiate, lead and manage the major change programs in the site value streams to standardize and simplify the operating model for the manufacturing operations.
Create and manage measurement systems to track adoption/progress, utilization and proficiency of key business value drivers
Provide stretch targets for self and the teams and recalibrate ideas through involved engagement.
Encourage use of existing resources to deliver business expectations, and guide team on project selections.
Ensure maximum utilisation of plant and equipment through planning of maintenance, shift start-ups, inventory controls, and designation of operating hours.

Strategic Alignment & Sustainability

Provide leadership, strategic and operation direction to production Value streams
Deliver OEE expectations and sustainable productivity according to the agreed targets
Supports projects selection through understanding of the financial business drivers
Be an active and visible production coach to production personnel.
Ensure QMS and EHS compliance by carrying out GQP gap analysis, managing and carrying out 6S’s audits, quarterly level 1 audits, draw up action plans for all actions arising from the production, and follow up status to ensure implementation.
Liaises with customer services department in addressing customer complaints as relates to quality issues, dealing with product integrity and packaging for locally manufactured product, carry out root cause analysis, draws action plan and ensure implementation.
Identify potential people-side risks and anticipated points of resistance and develop specific plans to mitigate or address the concerns
Develop a change management strategy based on a situational awareness of the details of the change and the groups impacted by the change
Ensure all production activities comply with relevant acts, legislation, legal requirements, ethical standards, GMP and relevant current standards.
Change owner for the production systems, hence responsible for managing the changes end to end.
Manage and ensure GMP trainings are carried out effectively for all employees and records of the same kept
Work with the projects team and financial lead to ensure financial discipline on Budgeting and spend for the proposed initiatives.
Responsible for value stream performance with regard to profit and budget targets. Manage the production budget and plan and review the operating costs (OPEX) particularly with regard to production efficiency, output, quality, costs, time available, labour requirements, planning production programs and control activities, inventory levels, customer service and compliance (Occupational Health Safety & Environment)
Manage the end-to-end process for new pack introductions, manufacturing operations plan and business activities for the achievement of short, medium and long-term strategic and operating objectives.

Risk Management

Lead Risk Management process within the production function
Lead Quality Council Management process within production function
Work with Cross-functional teams to deliver the Zero Waste, Zero Accident and Zero Quality ambition.
Engage cross functional teams to ensure there is a smooth flow of product to the market with/or by challenging all process hiccups.
Ensure all production activities comply with relevant acts, legislation, legal requirements, ethical standards, GMP and relevant current standards.
Change owner for the production systems, hence responsible for managing the changes end to end.
Manage and ensure GMP trainings are carried out effectively for all employees and records of the same kept

Responsible for ensuring that production approval of batch records is executed prior to QA review
Work with the site production lead on current and future issues that could potentially affect the business performance, continuity and maturity. Ensure all external communications are clearly verified by the site production lead.

Qualification/ Experience

Graduate in Engineering, Pharmacy or Sciences Preferred
Sound knowledge/experience across all areas of business
Manufacturing experience/background preferable pharmaceuticals and/ or FMCH organizations.
Strong understanding of financial requirements of the business
Excellent track records of application of OE Tools
Extensive production management experience in a modern result driven manufacturing organization
Experience in high quality manufacturing, preferably batch processing
Experience in multi-product operations
Understanding of Labour Relations
Experience with people management
