About us
Accelerating Sustainable Control and Elimination of NTDs (ASCEND) is a £200 million investment from the UK government’s Department for International Development, to advance the impact and sustainability of national programmes tackling 5 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Implemented between September 2019 to March 2022, ASCEND comprises of two lots – Lot 1 focusing on South Asia, East and Southern Africa (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya) and Lot 2 on West and Central Africa. ASCEND Lot 1 is implemented by a consortium of technical partners lead by Crown Agents, including Abt Associates, Oriole Global Health and the Royal Tropical Institute. Central to ASCEND Lot 1’s approach is close collaboration with National Governments and other implementing partners, in order to enhance national approaches to NTD control and elimination, resulting in more integrated, cost-effective and sustainable programmes.
