M&E Coordinator

The key project objectives are summarized as follows:

To understand and compare the effectiveness of different model(s) for improving uptake and continued use of family planning
To test and inform implementation strategy throughout the course of the intervention, facilitating data-led adaptation to optimize intervention effectiveness
To generate evidence and learnings for sustainable and comprehensive community health model(s) for increasing contraceptive use in remote and hard to reach communities that are applicable to regional stakeholders dealing with similar populations in other countries in the subregion, the horn of Africa, and the Sahel.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

Assist project team to implement the evaluation and research activities, including routine and other planned data collection and analysis.
Coordinate data collection (including training research assistants), and provide timely analyses and reports to guide project activities.
Assist APD and M&E Specialist to collaborate with JSI and local partners including MOH representatives and community leaders.Communicate regularly with project team and support staff to ensure the effective and smooth implementation of the project and to provide real-time troubleshooting/support on any project issues Perform regular and extended visits to each project sites in the ASAL regions to supervise M&E activities.
Work with the project’s support staff to ensure the effective and smooth implementation of the project.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and EXPERIENCE:

Ability to work and conduct extended travel in the ASAL regions (Turkana, Samburu, Mandera and Wajir); Proven experience working in ASAL regions highly preferred
Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation methodologies, especially managing qualitative data collection and analysis, including conducting focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and participant observations, and using qualitative statistical softwares such as SPSS, STATA, NVivo, Atlas.ti, MAXQDA, or Dedoose
Experience working on Reproductive Health Programs required; Specific previous evaluative experience on Family Planning concepts and programs preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in conducting partnership-building with marginalized communities
Good command of research and evaluation ethics

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Statistics with experience in M&E , or other relevant area;
Proficiency in Word, Excel and related MS Office applications including statistical softwares such as SPSS, STATA, NVivo, Atlas.ti, MAXQDA, or Dedoose
