Job Details

Reducing Insecurity and Violent Extremism in the Northern and Coastal regions of Kenya (RE-INVENT) Programme: a 5-year DFID funded programme that aims to enhance Kenyan capacity and capability to address inter-communal conflict, weak community-police relations, violence against women and girls (VAWG), violent extremism and election related violence. It will support the continued advancement of police reforms to improve the management, oversight and accountability of the police force. The programme will build on the experience of the Jamii Thabiti Programme (2014-2019).
The Regional Programme Officer (RPO) will provide support to the implementation of the RE-INVENT programme at the county and regional level. The RPO will work closely with the Regional Technical Lead to ensure successful delivery of programme interventions at the county and regional level. The RPO responsibilities will include:
Coordination

In collaboration with the Regional Technical Lead, develop and the drive implementation of local level robust interventions.
Undertake periodic analysis of gaps, coordination opportunities and mapping of entry points to enhance interventions and promote responsive programming.
Support the Regional Technical Lead with county coordination, development and monitoring of workplans and budgets, and the delivery of activities.
Lead regional and county reporting and documentation of RE-INVENT programme activities and collate case studies and lessons learnt.
Contribute to the visual profiling of the programme activities by ensuring visual material like photos are collected and filed.

Downstream engagement

Support the mapping and initial assessments of the context and potential downstream partners at county and regional level.
As guided by the Regional Technical Lead, support communication and relationships between downstream partners the programme at county level.
Coordinate programme reporting from downstream partners ensuring programme reports are received on time and to RE-INVENT’s requirements.
Review and provide feedback to partners on quarterly reports and concept note processes.
Support the Regional Technical Lead to ensure that partners’ activities are implemented in a timely manner.

The Person (Special requirements/ qualifications and experience)

A Masters degree or its equivalent in Social Science or Relevant subject to peace and security sector
Minimum 5 years experience in similar role
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of justice and security related programmes in Kenya
Experience of engaging with Government of Kenya security agencies and county authorities
Practical experience working in similar programmes
Outstanding knowledge and practical expertise in project management
If required, the role may be relocated in line with the Client’s expectations.
Any additional travel and out of office hours work may be required.
Any other duties as may be required for the exigency of the programme.
