POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering short, medium and long term business objectives (revenue, profitability & sustainability) through strategic pricing and access strategies in both state and private sectors in East Africa. The candidate will use commercial market insights and Pfizer pricing processes to identify pricing opportunities to improve profitability & sustainability. The candidate will also drive market access by providing input into commercial & account strategies & tactical plans across the Pfizer portfolio in the East Africa Region
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Pricing Excellence:
Responsible for the creation of optimal pricing strategies across the full Pfizer portfolio, in the private, public markets in East Africa
Support Product/portfolio teams to generate incremental revenues using pricing as a strategic lever;
Conduct pricing analyses that will result in more accurate customer profitability assessment and aid decision making
Recommend optimal pricing, considering international price referencing dynamics
Maintain a high level of competitive pricing intelligence on priority products
Formulate tender bids in coordination with local and global teams to increase chance of bid awards, in line with profitability goals. Work in close partnership with Local Tender Lead and in alignment with Global Tender Team to deliver tender revenue and profitability
Access Excellence:
Maintain expertise in local access legislation and payer landscape to inform pricing strategies
Understand payer requirements and priorities, and provide input into commercial strategy through local payer insights
Develop and promote win-win solutions for negotiations with payers
Determine the market need for value messaging, in order to support market access and commercial strategies, and review available global value propositions for appropriateness
Conduct payer landscape assessment and report activities required to achieve revenue-optimal pricing and reimbursement for Pfizer medicines aimed at all patient segments
Collaborate with the H&V Lead and commercial colleagues to develop and execute cross-functionally integrated local payer value messages

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BPharm /MBBCh /BSc or and equivalent Health Sciences qualification; and
A demonstrated track record of at least 3-5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a healthcare payer
A demonstrated track record of translating commercial strategy into a detailed implementation plan
Experience of least 3-5 years in a similar role responsible for:
Pricing analyses and strategy
Financial modelling
Evaluation of clinical and economic literature
Preparation of value dossiers
Excellent MS Excel skills
Good business acumen
Knowledge of the local healthcare system and its major players and decision-makers
