Community Based Family Planning Consultant

JSI/inSupply Health is seeking a consultant to work with the Ministry of Health (Reproductive Maternal Health Services Unit and Community Health Unit) and its stakeholders to review, update and develop a National curriculum for Community Based Distribution for Family Planning (CBD for FP). The consultant will ensure that all work and deliverables under the terms of reference comply with the MOH Reproductive Health objectives and relevant family planning policies and guidelines
Performance period: 45 days during the period March 1 – June 3, 2019
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The consultant’s responsibilities will include:

Review the current CBD curriculum and related products
Interact with the MOH (RMHSU and Community Health Units), members of family planning technical working group and other relevant government ministries and learning institutions to gather their input on the curriculum.
Conduct key informant interviews collecting views on topics that require inclusion or updating
Develop several drafts of the participants and trainers’ manual
Conduct and facilitate stakeholders’ meetings to review the curriculum and manuals and consolidate the inputs
Pre-test the training materials with relevant audience
Hold and facilitate a validation meeting
Finalize the curriculum, participants and trainers’ manual with accompanying the slide deck

DELIVERABLES

Inception report based on desk review including a work plan with timelines
Outline of the curriculum prior to stakeholders’ retreat
Present several drafts for review
Hold and facilitate stakeholders (1. Review and 2. Validation) meeting to present the draft curriculum
Deliver the pre-test report and include required revisions to the draft
The final drafts of both trainers’ and participant’s manuals
The slide deck with the training content

SKILL SET REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Advanced degree in Public Health or related field
At least 10 years of professional experience in curriculum development
Proven experience in Community Health and Community Based Family Planning
A good understanding of and/or experience in the Kenyan health sector specifically the Family Planning program
Ability to simplify technical content to suite semi-literate group of people
Excellent report writing skills with ability to analyze information/data and present it in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to deliver a high quality output
Proficiency in English
